One thing I just noticed. Naofumi is super careful with his money. However when he goes to the blacksmith to upgrade his armor he lets him pick the money from Naofumi's bag. Just a minor detail that shows the trust and respect Naofumi has for him. Knowing he wont rip him off.

Something very 'video game' that I always loved about this show: The shield hero is the character that has had to spend time learning every single ability his class has to offer, knowing when and how to use them, being able to string them together into a meaningful combo. The other heroes by this point have just been characters learning the strongest abilities of their class, trying to upscale their power and learning to do nothing else really. We all know that one hunter in WoW that only spams aimed shot, or that warrior that only presses slam. They're not as useful as the other people that know their freakin' class.
During the boat fight, I always liked how Naofumi decided to use the Rage Shield because he was worried about the danger a drawn-out battle would present to the villagers and the knights he brought along

I was saying naofumi sees the world as a real one and thus sees it's inhabitants as real people which influences his actions. Other examples of this include him rescuing the village instead of going to the first wave boss and his pointing out to the spear hero how the exorbitant taxes myne proposed later would be impossible for said village to handle.

I find it weird how he's constantly refusing romance with her because he views her as a child but he made her fight for him when she had the child body.

This anime has made me feel things no anime, with the sole exception of Made in Abyss, has ever done before. I felt unbridled rage alongside Naofumi at the injustices the world as pit against him and cheered with every small victory the gang had. 11/10 one of my favorite all time shows.

I watched this earlier in the year Right after finishing Bunny Girl Senpai. Love the fact that Naofumi and Raphtalia are voiced by the same pair as Sakuta and Mai, perfect pair.
That was the lest of their problems if I remember correctly (atleast for the ones that knew the original source matreal). Anyone that knew the web novel original version also knew that the thing was a garbage fire. Like like Shield got the best racoon there because she was same gender as Mayne and he could take out his frustration on her, also Mayne later gets literally sold of to a king that rapes and mind breaks women regularly... Amongst many other things wrong there. Basically LN did some work to make it less extreme but many things still caries over even only as subtext anime is basicly bending backwards to whitewash him even further and in the process is losing more identity along the edge making it bland. Bigest example would be the trail becoming a joke in anime. Compared to other versions where he was the one pushing for the death of Mayne and the queen being the one that wins by playing on his character flaws making him settle for name change and the slave brand being worse fates than death. In anime he was positively whitewashed and the queens interdiction and character became a weksauce.
I love this anime and love hearing what others think of it and getting a whole new perspective on things that's why I love this channel thanks and keep up the fantastic work

Shield Hero was the first anime in a long long time where I actually cared about the MC,felt genuinely anger and frustration and relief. For comparison:I've watched well over 100+ anime

I love how they didn't automatically give Filo clothes that disappear when she transforms, then inexplicably reappear when she transforms back. She needs magical clothes specifically designed to do that, which she only gets after putting in the effort to gather the materials needed to design them.
What I love about Shield Hero is that the other three embody different isekai cliches! The blond guy has a harem and is there for the fun, sword dude is the op slightly flat isekai hero, and bow bae is all pollitical intrigue! I love that they aren't all doing the same thing, and also make fun of other osekai a little XD
Possibly the greatest praise I can give shield hero is that I never relized how much CGI there was until it was oriented out, it blends so well into the style of the show and is used at the right times.
It is always nice to have someone really enjoy my favorite show (at least since it released. it's my new golden standard.) Your episode captured most, if not all, of my original excitement and emotions from watching it the first time.

There’s many things to *ding* in this anime but there’s one simple element I think you missed, the musical scores. Spoilers for what’s in this vid below.. Naofumi’s theme tells the his story based on the changing sounds and beats, (at the start it’s calm but switches to heavy bass referencing Myne’s betrayal. Glass’s theme is just awesome and gives off an East Asia vibe which complements her kimono (I believe that’s the correct term for her outfit). And at the end of the video when the jumpy tune builds as Melty is arguing with Naofumi and anxious vibe grows, at least with me it did. The preposterous nature of the music combines with the following setup of her kidnapping. To be honest, you covered a great amount of content (36 minutes for one half) but I think the music deserves a reference as well.
Man, I swear, this is like the third time I'm watching this video, and, with Shield Bro being on of my all time favorite animes, I am always happy to have someone whisper sweet things to me about a show I love. My fervent passion for Shield Hero is sorely unmatched by most, but, you sure convince me that you loved watching it. Season 2 will bring a new age upon us weeby McPlebs, and I grandly look forward to your excellent videos on it.
When I was watching the show and the guards were going to attack melty in that scene at the end, I saw them show the guards smiling with the ball and I was like, "Setup, run, betrayal, setup, move, MOVE"
With so many people shitting on this anime it's always nice to hear some well thought out and worded praise of it. I remember loving this anime from episode one and honestly could have probably watched a whole seasons worth of just sidequests and learning about him powering up the shield. Also Raphtalia is just such a great character in so many ways. I can't wait to see you cover the second half of this anime.

Honestly best face for me was when Naofumi shielded Raphtalia from the attack at around 11:00 from pure smitten and blushing to unbridled rage, legit fuck me eyes to death stare in a second.
Tate no yusha was the one story that gave me back my love for the inseki genere after all the bullshit that came out ruined it for me. It's depiction of realistic human characters and great writing set it appart miles sao for example. The fact that the main heroe was powerful but had a true weaknes in his offensive potential without aid made the whole story even better. It and Re: zero hold a special place in my heart .
if your really enjoying this masterpiece then i recommend that you go and watch this series on TH-cam called shield hero cut content. it a great series that fills you in on all the things the anime missed as well as going into more detail at certain parts.
So glad this is back, I really did love the first episode but it was just a basic episode. Really hope we get some emotional, and rage filled scenes, and some badass character moments. Also really hope eventually you do Spy X Family, it's already SOO good and I was thinking about what you would probably win several times during the first episode.

honestly this is one of the best anime ive ever seen, its just brilliantly executed, all the people feel like people and they make the interactions feel authentic, plus its all done in the style of a classic RPG and who doesnt love RPG's? also it really conveys the emotions to the viewer, you feel anger relief and sadness along side all the characters, and any story that can make you feel strong emotions is doing a damn fine job
When will the part 2 come out? I know that you are busy with making other videos for other animes but I really want to see your opinion about the later half of this amazing anime:))))

That’s one of the things I love about the anime the most: The moral, at least for this season, is “actions speak louder than words.”
I love how they didn't automatically give Filo clothes that disappear when she transforms, then inexplicably reappear when she transforms back. She needs magical clothes specifically designed to do that, which she only gets after putting in the effort to gather the materials needed to design them.
This anime is SOOO freaking good that I bought it on iTunes without hesitation, AND I've watched it twice in the last week.
Just watching these scenes again made my heart pound again

What I love about Shield Hero is that the other three embody different isekai cliches! The blond guy has a harem and is there for the fun, sword dude is the op slightly flat isekai hero, and bow bae is all pollitical intrigue! I love that they aren't all doing the same thing, and also make fun of other osekai a little XD

Possibly the greatest praise I can give shield hero is that I never relized how much CGI there was until it was oriented out, it blends so well into the style of the show and is used at the right times.
It is always nice to have someone really enjoy my favorite show (at least since it released. it's my new golden standard.) Your episode captured most, if not all, of my original excitement and emotions from watching it the first time.
I love The Rising of the Shield Hero! Thanks for highlighting some of my favorite moments and whenever I rewatch it I will think this has over 150 stunning moments in the first twelve episodes that must be some kind of world record!!! And all of them rightly deserved!!! Thanks for the video!!!
There’s many things to *ding* in this anime but there’s one simple element I think you missed, the musical scores.
Spoilers for what’s in this vid below..
Naofumi’s theme tells the his story based on the changing sounds and beats, (at the start it’s calm but switches to heavy bass referencing Myne’s betrayal.
Glass’s theme is just awesome and gives off an East Asia vibe which complements her kimono (I believe that’s the correct term for her outfit).
And at the end of the video when the jumpy tune builds as Melty is arguing with Naofumi and anxious vibe grows, at least with me it did. The preposterous nature of the music combines with the following setup of her kidnapping.
To be honest, you covered a great amount of content (36 minutes for one half) but I think the music deserves a reference as well.
It's amazing how you can actually feel exactly what Naofumi is feeling in those scenes of his humiliation and rage.
I both hated and loved those scenes, it kept me invested but also made me want to smash the red girls head into the wall

Man, I swear, this is like the third time I'm watching this video, and, with Shield Bro being on of my all time favorite animes, I am always happy to have someone whisper sweet things to me about a show I love. My fervent passion for Shield Hero is sorely unmatched by most, but, you sure convince me that you loved watching it.
Season 2 will bring a new age upon us weeby McPlebs, and I grandly look forward to your excellent videos on it.

When I was watching the show and the guards were going to attack melty in that scene at the end, I saw them show the guards smiling with the ball and I was like,
"Setup, run, betrayal, setup, move, MOVE"

With so many people shitting on this anime it's always nice to hear some well thought out and worded praise of it. I remember loving this anime from episode one and honestly could have probably watched a whole seasons worth of just sidequests and learning about him powering up the shield.
Also Raphtalia is just such a great character in so many ways. I can't wait to see you cover the second half of this anime.

One thing I really love about your videos is that thanks to them I see different sides of an anime, there were a lot of elements on this anime i did not precisely like but you shed a different side to them and made me appreciate the anime as a whole more, so thank you man.

Honestly best face for me was when Naofumi shielded Raphtalia from the attack at around 11:00 from pure smitten and blushing to unbridled rage, legit fuck me eyes to death stare in a second.
I just can't wait to see part 2 as the peak of the anime is in it:)))))
this has to be one of the best animes that can make literally every watcher have this strong feeling of HATEEE they never had before in other animes
Tate no yusha was the one story that gave me back my love for the inseki genere after all the bullshit that came out ruined it for me. It's depiction of realistic human characters and great writing set it appart miles sao for example.
The fact that the main heroe was powerful but had a true weaknes in his offensive potential without aid made the whole story even better.
It and Re: zero hold a special place in my heart .
Because it's a good story that takes place in an isekai and not some generic demigod adventure

if your really enjoying this masterpiece then i recommend that you go and watch this series on TH-cam called shield hero cut content. it a great series that fills you in on all the things the anime missed as well as going into more detail at certain parts.
So glad this is back, I really did love the first episode but it was just a basic episode. Really hope we get some emotional, and rage filled scenes, and some badass character moments. Also really hope eventually you do Spy X Family, it's already SOO good and I was thinking about what you would probably win several times during the first episode.

My fav thing about that thing with the knights in first battle is you can see Raph's thoughts on her face as she realizes they fired on them like that.
Nooooo I was hoping he was going to show the part in episode 9 where naofumi acted like a parent and showed how much more he cares about filo and wants her to have life outside of fighting oh man it was such a great clip to
honestly this is one of the best anime ive ever seen, its just brilliantly executed, all the people feel like people and they make the interactions feel authentic, plus its all done in the style of a classic RPG and who doesnt love RPG's? also it really conveys the emotions to the viewer, you feel anger relief and sadness along side all the characters, and any story that can make you feel strong emotions is doing a damn fine job
also so many wins for so few episodes is very deserved, almost 13 wins a episode is not shabby at all
