You’re getting me pumped for my first DJ bike!! I got lucky and found an Evil Faction 2 frame a week ago, so I’m just starting the build! It will have the Pike DJ fork as well🤘plus Halo Chaos wheels and a Deity bar with 80mm rise. Your joy of riding the bike matches mine, and I haven’t even ridden it yet 😆
@@chickensendies Likewise! It’s a dream DJ for sure! Cheers brother!! Hey you’re not running tubeless with the Race Kings, are you? If not, what tubes you use?
Been wait for Evil Faction 2 to be restock since last year. Until now they don't have it. Hopefully this summer they will restock it anyway. I've been really wanting to build this kind of bike. But never seen anyone on youtube review this frame. Thank you for doing it. :D Keep it up!!!
Sure!!! The rigid is more responsive, lighter and feels faster.... Also, MUCHHHH cheaper! On a budget rigid is a terrific option! Actual fork offers protection on massive hits and a sense of protection while you ride. Sometimes it is nice to have a little safety net up front 😁
Hi, I appreciate all of your quality content. What do you think is better? Get a Huffy Scout and do the DJ upgrades OR PT26 with upgrades? What is the best value and end product? I am trying to stay under $500 and $400 if possible.
I'd definitely say go for PT26. It is already what you'd need at a great price! Definitely do the Gusset 26" fork upgrade or a budget air fork. You can potentially take a look at Radio Asuras as an entry DJ. They are around $500 new but the fork is still not the best like the Mongoose stock fork. But between the huffy and mongoose it is definitely mongoose. Huffy was a very fun project but PT26 is just better imo 😁 Thank you for your kind words as well!
@/misfitfoo Red I hear that 😅😅😅 On a serious note, I was pretty impressed what a rigid fork did to the Mongoose. Really transformed it quite a bit but of course the Evil is my baby 😁😁😁
Finally...question that has trouble the great minds, since the dawn of men... both looks solid bikes. If you start with heavy bike...learn manuals and bunny hops etc on it, imagine the feeling when you move into lighter high end bike 👌💪This was a good one...and that evil 🤤🤤🤤
@leefunkera I went with a med frame, and it fits me great! I am 5' 10" with a 32" inseam. I'll have to double check gear ratio when I get home. The dropouts I put in might make it look like it is all the way back but the axle is not 😁😁😁
@@chickensendies good to know! Mine is a large as I am 6’1” with 33.5” inseam, and planning to slam the axle all the way in the dropout for shortest length. Was curious because you were doing manuals so easily 👊
That was a nice build. Someone else commented something like if they told their past self that they'd be glued to a huffy mtb video and really like the product they'd have punched their future self in the face. U don't see too many conversions without the chain tensioner. I bet a lot of people copied that build
I've heard from several people the bottom bracket is plastic as well. Even if they both were the same money the fact that you like riding the other one so much makes it worth the money you paid for it
I actually did not even check out the BB.... That would have been a good idea to look at 😅😅😅 At the end of the day for me as long as you enjoy what you have that is all that matters!!! 😀
@@chickensendies I'm 51 I was a privateer BMX racer in the '80s. I've been battling cancer this year and I've decided I want to get out riding again but don't really want to standard BMX bike that's why I've been checking out dirt jumpers I won't be jumping just messing around with small stuff like curbs and stuff just don't want a big 29-in BMX bike. What would you suggest I'm 6'1
At the present time I can't manual or do anything like that. And I can't get too rowdy right now cuz of my surgery back in October I just want to ride around. I'll probably have to use a dropper post because I need to sit down and ride
The biggest difference you will notice is weight and geo. The chain stays are pretty long on the mongoose so manuals and such feel off. But for the price the Mongoose is honestly a great way to get into pump track or even skatepark riding.... Just get rid of that stock fork fast lol
@@chickensendies so my son is interested in this stuff, so i think if he could buy a $200 bike, a cheap fork(You didn't say what you had) and bars and pedals he could see if he really liked it before spending a bunch of money.
@@chrishorbatt3504 I added the card to the installation video over the fork I usee but it is a Gusset 26" DJ. Honestly a great rigid fork for the price 😁
@@chickensendies being smart with picking our battles right now. First thing is getting dirt that passes all the testing for metals and such that’ll fit the budget as it’s crowd funded and also getting the expansion to be approved by the city
May I say it: The PT 26 is absolute trash. To upgrade it I would cut a fifth of the headtube to make it tapered and it is sooo noisy! NOt recommended!!
For me, it doesn't really matter if the bike is expensive or cheap, what matters is the fun i've with it. Btw both bikes look sick🔥👌
100%!!!!!! Get what you can afford and enjoy it while you have it!!!!
cant believe nobody else was there. wish we had pump tracks like that (or at all) where i live. looks sick!
@goatsplitter very nice location for sure! Due to my job though I ride unusual hours for most 😅😅😅 I'm typically solo everywhere I ride

hey what size of forks should i get for the pt26 mongoose does it have to be a mongoose forks or does that matter....
I'd keep it straight steerer tube and around 80 - 100mm of travel
You can get sealed headsets cheap too.
Absolutely!!! I used a Jessica which is around $20! I've used a handful now and they all have been great!
