the brake pad not going down all the way is a big safety hazard, since the top of the pad isnt contacting the rotor this means that when the pads wear down they will press against each other instead of the rotor.
I agree. If you previously had Shimano rotors on there the caliper might be set up for 203mm and the Hope will probably be 200mm. The size should be written on the adaptor as part of the model number, for example I have a Shimano SM-MA90-F203P/PM sitting in front of me which is to take 180mm 'post' mount up to 203mm.
Be prepared for some mysterious creaking developing around the BB. It won’t be the BB though, it’ll be that garbage Next crankset. I’ve had delamination issues in two sets. It’s a common problem with them and RaceFace will not warranty them. Sweet bike!
The post mount on the 38 is for a 200mm rotor, you use a different washer on the bolts for a 203mm rotor. If this was not the case you would not be able to run SRAM brakes on a 38.

The moment i saw the hope rotors i knew you weren't joking around. I love them but i just can't justify spending that much on a component that can basically be wasted if it gets contaminated, as they never perform the same afterwards
Have you experienced rotors that couldn't be cleaned? Pads are one thing, I've had some success saving contaminated pads. With rotors they don't absorb oil like the pads do. Clean them with iso alcohol or acetone and they always come out like new.
@@dylan-5287 i have used brake cleaner that is suposed to be wiped off after it dries, but the pads just can't seem to get the same bite as before and i'm missing about 40% of the brake's strenght, despite bleeding them onto near perfection and using many tricks to get the pads to bed in. I have sanded the rotors with a not too fine nor too aggresive paper and that hasn't worked either, tried to sand the pads and to rub them toghether with water like Doddy from GMBN advices. The good thing is that i had a lot of braking to spare so i don't mind, as i can still stop perfectly fine.

That's a great looking trail, it looks like my local trails here in the UK. Lots of mud and rocks but mine has a crap ton of slippery roots too. Sometmes you just gotta ride when it wet and muddy, like here in the UK 80% of the year the trails will be like that, just gotta take it as it comes. Mud guards and bike washes exist for a reason I guess :)
With these kinds of trails, if you ride them in the wet, it can totally destroy them.. Makes huge ruts and the builders have to come out and do a lot of work to fix them.. I think that's why he was feeling guilty about riding them... Good trail etiquette!
Your definition of 'mud' and my definition of mud is a whole different thing. Coming to you from Lake Placid New York. Keep sending it and don't be scared of a little dirt.
I grew up on bmx and motocross. Now at 31 with 3 kids. It's too hard to find time to ride Moto. I can get local trails after work or on lunch breaks and minimize risk. I miss Moto. But there with a family depending on me I just ride mtb... I think it's cool to ride mud. I've been doing it more lately on trails that allow it. It makes you a better rider.
i’ve been running hand guards on both of my bikes for the last year. Now that the trails in SoCal are overgrown with our super bloom from all the rains, my buddies are complaining about brake levers being hit by brush. I don’t even notice it.. having ridden motorcycles for years I guess it’s just something I’m used to, but there is zero downside to hand guards and they offer protection from branches and on cool winter night rides my hands are warmer since they’re not getting 15 mph breeze the entire time
Riding in the mud is 100% dependent on where you are riding. Some soil types are fine to ride in the mud while others get destroyed and are hard to fix. I just rode Galbraith in Bellingham, WA and wet mud riding is normal and allowed there. Riding in the mud is a different kind of fun but boy is it messy and annoying to clean up! My home trails you are not allowed to ride in the mud as it makes them incredibly hard to repair.
The Bentonville trails are mainly clay capped and okay to ride in mud, but these trails had different clay and it was super sticky and in some areas majorly sticking to the tires 💀
Centennial is probably the slowest to dry out after a rain. It also doesn't get love from the paid trail crews like Bentonville, so please be easy on it! But we've all been there, thinking "oh I probably shouldn't be on this trail" 😄
Hey Evan. Try your Orbea on something fast with bigger jumps. That trail was slowing you down a bit. Good looking bike... Although not a fan of the hand guards. They look like a Chad thing 😉
Shimano rotors are 180,203.. etc, your hope rotor is 200mm, that's why you need a smaller adaptor. You need one with 20mm rise to use this rotor safely.
Point inspections mean nothing unless physical replacements were made. Other than that, they're just a fancy term for "seems okay, won't change it," which is not very assuring.
rain, mud, snow, rabid wolverines........doesn't matter, as long as you're riding. ok, maybe not with rabid wolverines, but i'm sure you get my point. beautiful park, sick bike and great video, bro.
Totally get why you think the seat clamp is the coolest part ... I have a $10,000 Mach 6 and despite all the fancy components, it's the oil slick bolts in my Apex stem I love most!

You had a very different experience with the Pro's Closet. Maybe having a TH-cam channel helps with that. I bought a Guerilla Gravity. Had a Magura rotor with a Sram caliper. They just adjusted the contact down so it wouldn't drag. The caliper and rotor both needed to be replaced. Derailleur needed to be replaced. Frame was banged up far beyond what the pictures showed. Chain stay guards were barely hanging on. The list goes on, it was a total basket case that took a lot of money to get right. Wouldn't do it again.
I’m sure many of us out here watching your channel would appreciate a first impressions video and then a long term review of the Rallon after the season is up
It looks like a fun ride where I could develop & hone some skills. It doesn’t really look like enduro territory though. A locked in trail bike seems like it would rip there! Unfortunately where I live there are no man made trails tailored to progression. Fortunately the natural terrain is pretty awesome.
My bikes previous owner said he got it serviced right before I bought it and I didn’t have too much time to test it when I bought it. Took it home and the pivot linkage was full of sand, the bearings were caked, the right brake didn’t work, and the gears didn’t shift 😂😂😂 great bike though
I don't understand the problem with Yeti. Sure, the DPS was blown, but that just meant that it was going into the landfill, which is where every DPS belongs anyway. :)
All fox rear shocks blow up after a month or two which is why Ive only used RS shocks for 6 years now., and you can service them yourself leaving u money for more bike park trips.
@@Alan-75 Buddy of mine took his Oiz on a 30 mile trail ride. Sure, it was rocky and gave the DPS a workout. But that was the only time I've ever seen a shock melt its seals and leave long black streaks on the shock body.
You should try an Enduro race. I know that the Orbea Rallon is known for being a full-on race bike. And I hope Eli wins this year but I also hope Cooper heals up fast.
As for the pads, take them out and look if they been contacting the disc wrong. In time they could just wear out wrong but we all know you will replace that bike way before that happens :D
Weight isn't a bad thing unless you're primary focus is climbing.. The weight needs to be what it needs to be for the style of riding you do. A lot of DH racers would be purposely add weight to their race bikes. That's why the 50+ lb e-bikes still handle and jump really well. I think a 36-38 lb enduro is just about the right mix.
My dram bike is the giant fathom 29 2 ride like a dream for me anyways hope you enjoy the bike!! The pros closet is awesome but you need to make sure you are not getting scammed with some of their older bikes
You should do a high vs low series again but for one bike have a really nice frame with low parts and a really low frame with high parts to see if it’s mostly components or frame
Riding mud is great but you gotta be wary of chewing up trails too much! Those big arse rivets oround the outside of the hope rotors can rub on other brands calipers so keep an eye on that too when you're correcting the gap.

I use I use the MK1, it's been great. of course a hard crash might snap the tip, but other than that very durable. MK2 can be attached with zip ties as before, but also with provided Velcro straps. There is also a bolt on front guard, which fits this fork, but with EXT ERA which I have it will require modification to get it to fit, I ordered it too, I will see if I can fit it.
I’ve been so close to picking up an XC bike from pros closet. It’s just hard to justify an additional $300 for taxes and shipping. That brings into play paying shipping on pink bike,
@@EvansMTBSaga Biden has really done a number on your economy. That bike isn't worth $5,899 dollars second hand. To me, that's absurd as i've seen 2022 Orbea's listed for as low as £1800 pounds second hand here in the UK.
Just change the angle of chain guide a bit lower. At the current angle there is just enough space for chain to pop off. A bit lower and it wont happen ever again 👍
Nice new bike! Congrats! Whats happen with Canyon 125?:) i heard that ther are a lot of volume spacer in work and shock, and after removing them its like normal spectral 150 :) maybe its materiał for video? I will love it :)
Totally depends on where you ride. We close them where I am because it causes ruts and when it dries the ruts set like concrete. It can make the trail unrideable.
That bike needed absolutely zero amount of orange. However you like what you like, at least it stands out. I could find you in a crowded lift line in 2 seconds. And I'm sure it rips which is the most important aspect.

Editing and video production have leveled up. Closest channel to Seth in the MTB genre.
Thanks man that's super kind of you
I’m sure many of us out here watching your channel would appreciate a first impressions video and then a long term review of the Rallon after the season is up
I loved racing Moto and I miss it a lot. I switched to MTB a few years ago because it’s safer. Looking forward to the next vid!
Nothing wrong with riding in the rain as long as you're going through the slop and not around it. Keep it up bro.
Thanks Tim!
We ride in the mud here my guy..bein a temperate rainforest and all..mud adds that butt puckering excitement we all need👍
It looks like a fun ride where I could develop & hone some skills. It doesn’t really look like enduro territory though. A locked in trail bike seems like it would rip there! Unfortunately where I live there are no man made trails tailored to progression. Fortunately the natural terrain is pretty awesome.
Come to New Zealand and do some riding in the north island. Auckland has a few cool spots then you could move on to Rotorua.
Haha yeah that dang DPS. But either way it was an XC bike that they marketed as a short travel trail bike. Just not the right bike for me
All fox rear shocks blow up after a month or two which is why Ive only used RS shocks for 6 years now., and you can service them yourself leaving u money for more bike park trips.
@@Alan-75 Buddy of mine took his Oiz on a 30 mile trail ride. Sure, it was rocky and gave the DPS a workout. But that was the only time I've ever seen a shock melt its seals and leave long black streaks on the shock body.
Raced motocross and area cross for over 12 years fell in love with mtb is great to keep u in shape and still very moto like if u like dh and parks
Heck yeah AX is gnarly! I like how moto guys are just fearless on MTB
You should try an Enduro race. I know that the Orbea Rallon is known for being a full-on race bike. And I hope Eli wins this year but I also hope Cooper heals up fast.
I think a perfectly fine & fun riding in the light mud condition. Great video!!!!
I love my 2020 Rallon, super fun bike. I'm sure you'll love it as well!
love the look of orbea bikes, might have to bring them into the store one day ;)
You should do a high vs low series again but for one bike have a really nice frame with low parts and a really low frame with high parts to see if it’s mostly components or frame
thank god back to your old ays with dream builds
Glad you're pumped on it Isaac
Time to enter some races. That would be great content. Also would love to see you do an epic event like Judgement Day and Dallas.
Riding mud is great but you gotta be wary of chewing up trails too much! Those big arse rivets oround the outside of the hope rotors can rub on other brands calipers so keep an eye on that too when you're correcting the gap.
wow I have noticed ur sub count an its growing quickly! hopefully 100k by the end of the year!
Heck yeah! I hope it's 100k by July
@@EvansMTBSaga sweet!
@@EvansMTBSaga Yea these new videos are becoming more intriguing especially as the channel follows your MTB progression from upgrading walmart bikes to beating literal Athletes while raising kids! it must be the dad strength!
edit lol I did not know that u were going to say the same at 9:30
It's funny you mention you like motocross, when I first started watching your channel I thought you reminded me a bit of Justin Barcia! 😂
Awesome video, now Charles wants orange accents on his Rocky Mountain! What have you done Evan!?!? Lol
I'm not even a big fan of orange but it just works!
I saw him racing the dirt jumper series. Was he on the new MTB?
@@EvansMTBSaga no he was on his dirt jumper, he has a list of things he wants on that RockyMountain!
7:30 You should check out the new Mudhugger Rear Large MK2 It covers whole top of the tyre and the new thing is it covers down to the chain stay too. I just ordered one. I use I use the MK1, it's been great.
of course a hard crash might snap the tip, but other than that very durable.
MK2 can be attached with zip ties as before, but also with provided Velcro straps.
There is also a bolt on front guard, which fits this fork, but with EXT ERA which I have it will require modification to get it to fit, I ordered it too, I will see if I can fit it.
bro i think the extra pound came from those hand guards lol. I like your music choice!
Rented a Rallon last year in Colorado, it was a fantastic bike,
I’ve been so close to picking up an XC bike from pros closet. It’s just hard to justify an additional $300 for taxes and shipping. That brings into play paying shipping on pink bike,
I reckon you’ve got a 203 caliper setup on a 200 rotor. Change those adapters asap. 👍🏼👍🏼
I got my "used" bike from there and it was brand new... Worked out for me
In the UK, you can get this model brand new for £3,699, that would be around $4,600.
Wow that's a good deal!
@@EvansMTBSaga Biden has really done a number on your economy. That bike isn't worth $5,899 dollars second hand. To me, that's absurd as i've seen 2022 Orbea's listed for as low as £1800 pounds second hand here in the UK.
Hey Evan, you should consider doing a bike giveaway for one of the enduro bikes, maybe even include some merch
Just change the angle of chain guide a bit lower. At the current angle there is just enough space for chain to pop off. A bit lower and it wont happen ever again 👍
Ive heard that when you mix different rotors from brand and bake calipers from another brand that can cause problems with caliper alignment
The only time i’ve ever dropped a chain was riding in the mud, that could be what caused your chain to come off
Rotors looked fine to me. Just take a flash light and look to see that you're getting full pad contact. If not you have a problem
There's maybe 1mm at the top of the pad that's above the rotor and not contacting
@@EvansMTBSaga 1mm? Well I wouldn't worry about 1mm, but I'm not a pro rider like you. I don't do sketchy stuff 😁
Although you could argue that around 5% of your brake pad. That makes it sound worse. Knowing myself, I'd still probably not worry about it.
Nice new bike! Congrats!
Whats happen with Canyon 125?:) i heard that ther are a lot of volume spacer in work and shock, and after removing them its like normal spectral 150 :) maybe its materiał for video? I will love it :)
It’s completely fine and actually kinda cool to ride in muddy conditions, i do it all the time in Finland 🇫🇮 😂
Totally depends on where you ride. We close them where I am because it causes ruts and when it dries the ruts set like concrete. It can make the trail unrideable.
Sorry, those hand guards must go😅
Never! Well actually if they break I'll toss them haha. They're pretty cheap feeling!
@@EvansMTBSaga stick to what makes you happy. Always great content Evan 👍🏻
Yo Evan I’m a big fan of the channel I was wondering what pedals you have on your new Orbea thanks !!
That bike needed absolutely zero amount of orange. However you like what you like, at least it stands out. I could find you in a crowded lift line in 2 seconds. And I'm sure it rips which is the most important aspect.
The bikes similar to specialized stump jumper evo? I would never buy a mullet. Can you imagine riding my long distance 40-60 and carrying 2-4 tubes 27.5 and 29? Horrible. I am looking at the yeti sb160 😅. I got the yeti sb140 29er and I love it! Super light, fast, and incredible ride!
Sadly they are shutting down soon, quite a shame.
Rallon baby! Orbea makes awesome bikes. Need some 🍊 or 🍇 pedals/grips and a 🍊 coil.
I love motocross and supercross. And I love riding motocross and mountain bikes.
Good times. That’s a big bike. Colorado style. 🎉
I think you gotta get to some Gnarlier trails because you got that crazy enduro bike your not riding it on the trails it’s supposed to be ridden on.
I couldn't ride the big stuff at this particular trail system. Check my other videos, I like riding Enduro stuff
