Agreed. It will be 8:30 local time in Provo, but yes, 9:30pm to all the Central Time bodies. Lots of Mountain Time teams new to the Big XII, so same story when teams go to AZ or CO.
We're used to it in Provo. Since we went Indy, ESPN loves us in that slot. West Coast Primetime. And honestly, night games at LES are pretty amazing fan experience! So hope you enjoy the trip!
Problem with BYU is that 3/4 of their RBs are banged up. They still may play this Saturday, but that’s a main reason BYU’s run game hasn’t been that good. Provo is going to be electric though. Night games are different in Provo.
Guys, there is another dynamic BYU has with Kansas State. 4,400 feet above sea level, with decibel levels well above 130 (deafening) from 63,000 fans (the largest in the Big 12). BYU fans are well known for not allowing a person to hear you when you are yelling at the top of your lunges standing next to you. So, how important is hearing a call on the field for Kansas State? BYU fans are quite competitive when it comes to fan bases, especially at home against a ranked team.
Be surprised if either team scores over 30 to be honest. I see the defenses dictating this game more than the offenses. BYU D is pretty solid all around, and they are healthy which was not the case in 2023. Injuries were a massive issue with that defense last year. This year The DL is healthy, the LBs are healthy and fast and the corners and safeties are mostly healthy and we see the difference from 2023. As to the BYU offense, they have to pass to win. It is that simple. RB1, RB2 and RB3 are all injured, in varying degrees. Luckily there is a deep and talented WR room, good TEs, and RBs can catch passes. OL v DL/LBs both ways determines this game. It's gonna be a tight one as a result. LES After Dark is magic for BYU. Be ready for it.
Good preview and go Cougs! FYI, In 2021 Bohanon was the starter for Baylor. Baylor defeated Oklahoma State in the BIG12 championship and then won the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss. However, Bohanon did miss the regular season finale and the BIG12 championship game due to a hamstring injury.
Well your prediction didn’t go as planned. Defense & Special team touchdowns, a “Running” touchdown, passing touchdowns, zero turnovers, 38 - 9, holding a second P4 team to Zero touchdowns. Yep no respect from anyone, well except the 4 teams they beat.
Too bad the Kansas fans won't be able to see part of the game while it's still light out. The mountains in the back back ground are amazing. Wildcat fans shouldn't worry too much we still need another couple years of recruiting before we're really in the mix. Right now I'm just happy we're in the conference with the ability to get better recruits while improving.
Thanks for more receipts! You're right that Retzlaff performance is key for BYU but it's more about him not turning the ball over, giving the game away. KSU is likely to win but it will be very close. Here's a few things you missed: 1) BYU's defense is by far the best KSU will have faced. 2) BYU might have the best set of WR/TE's they've ever had. 3) BYU's top 2 RB's sat most of the SMU game, top 3 sat out of the Wyoming game, likely play against KSU. Johnson is great, but he'll be picked at least once. I think the odds are 50-50 and KSU won't score 30 points.
Two factors to consider. Lowland Kansas is coming to the high mountain thin air where BYU is conditioned to play. Add that to the late hour which will also favor BYU, these will make it hard for Kanses St.
So, why are we surprised that BYU won 3 games when the prediction was that they would win 4.5 games this season? It's a particularly good question when the two of the three wins were completely expected? SMU was the only "upset" in that BYU was the underdog. To me, the bigger question is: was SMU overrated? Retzlaf has thrown 4 interceptions in 3 games. Not good. The BYU defense won the games.y
Yeah I see a very similar thing happening as last year where BYU was 5-2 or something like that and then lost 5 straight. When they were 5-2, it was almost impossible to see them not making a bowl game, and then the impossible happened. With this year, this is the end of BYU's easy games except for Houston at the very end. The rest of their schedule are Big 12 championship contenders or teams that are much more improved than the pre-season polls said they'd be.
For BYU to win it comes down to line play. Can the D-line contain K-state Qb and not let him run wild. And can the O-line open up holes for the run game. They have to run the ball to win.
@@goaliegrizz8925 NGL, I was not on the JR train either until after Wyoming. He just needs to do enough, which he did, because he is simply good at football. Doesn’t need to be anything else. Go Cougs. I appreciate a great defensive anyway. Might be better than 2012’s
Any team that plays BYU has to realize that The Y…especially in Provo at 4,700 feet in altitude, in front of 60k fans, and an offense and defense that are playing really well…is DANGEROUS! It could stall if not kill any other team’s aspirations to get to the playoffs.
You brought up how BYU has allowed the most QB rushing yards, but you gotta look at that in context. They've played 4 games and all 4 opposing QBs were dual threats. Sure they allowed more rushing yards, but they also have not allowed any QB to throw more than 140 yards.
If BYU defense has another very solid night and they get either LJ Martin or Ropati back, Retzlaff will have a big night and BYU wins 36-32. Go Cougars!
Man wouldn't it be crazy if byu wins. If they beat Kansas state they could potentially start 6-0 or better. I'm just a byu fan wishing for a good season 😂. It will be a good game! I also respect Kansas state! Good luck yall!
BYU night games are electric. The crowd gets into it and often wills the team to victory. They infuse energy into the team and draw false start penalties.
If Avery Johnson tries to carry this game by himself, the altitude will have him gassed in the 2nd half. If BYU avoids costly turnovers, they will win. Good luck Kansas State from this Cougar fan.
@@goaliegrizz8925 - amazing defense. Hope they stay focused, humble, and hungry. Such a great crowd. I watched early morning in Abu Dhabi, pacing, trying not to scream!
I see this as a similar game to the 2022 Kstate vs. WVU game where Garrett Greene had to take WVU on his shoulders and he just couldn’t outlast Kstate - BYU makes it uncomfortable early, but the Cats pull away and the 38-17 score looks worse than the first 3 quarters felt.
As a byu fan I think KST wins. Too much qb inconsistency and RB injuries. BYU has real good wide receivers and TEs though. Problem is getting them the ball. I hope though. You guys are 100% correct on BYU’s weakness with running qbs.
@@michaeltaylors2456 I think the running QB thing is a little misleading - it was the only offense BYU's three opponents could generate. On the other hand, Avery Johnson is special. He'll have a few great runs, for sure. But I don't think KSU will score more a few TD's.
You guys don't know anything about BYUs defense. No way they will score 35 on them. SMU couldn't score a TD against them. They didn't score 35 on Tulane. Not a fan of these guys. Not very sound logic. You don't even know what year BYU is in the league. Never hearing again. Attitude is legit in Provo. I expect K State to struggle in the 2nd half. Altitude plays a role and it'll be close to midnight CST for them. They better hope for a lead at halftime.
I disagree. KSU is one of the teams that gets stronger as the game goes on. I expect them to struggle in the first half as they always seem to start slow, and then absolutely dominate the second half. Since 2022, they have given up an average of like 6.5 points in the second half while scoring +20. they're a dominant second half team. We'll see what happens though. I think Retzlaff will develop into a dominant force, but it was against an awful Wyoming team. KSU is gonna be hard, I hope we win but it's unlikely. Even if he has his best game
