    This guitar is so good you can mention George Harrison and some dude named McGuire and then play two of the easiest chords known to mankind!

    Nice to see Barry McGuire get a mention. He championed the 12 string guitar. Well the acoustic 12 string guitar anyway. Perhaps he picked up a RIC 12 every now and again too? LOL

    I bought one like this from my neice's boyfriend back in the early 70s. Sold it 10 years later (for about 1/10th of it's value!) because I was the proverbial starving college student
    Yeah, I've been kicking myself!

    Nice guitar. But the best model in the genre to date is the 360/12 C63. It has all the correct bits to produce the classic vintage Rickenbacker 12 string sound of the 1960s.

  • @Ram44
    @Ram44 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    What they don't (and definitely won't) tell you is that the string spacing on a 360/12 is NARROW. McGuinn (aka McGuire haha) had to use TWO fingers for an E major chord because there isn't any room! I tried one of these and it was just too uncomfortable to play. But I wanted that sound, so I found the top of the line 660/12 (which comes with the vintage toaster pickups and vintage wood case). This 360 comes with hi-gain pickups and a hard plastic case.

    • @kcd2120
      @kcd2120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do they even make the 660/12 any more? I only see a few used ones around but agree that it’s wider fretboard would be easier for many to play.

    • @karmicselling4252
      @karmicselling4252 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Easy to widen the string spacing by getting a new nut cut for the guitar.

    I almost literally froth at this guitar. It has a timbre that Gibson's doesn't have, that Fender's don't have, that PRS's don't have, that Ibanez's don't have, its clearly a class of its own. Only if it weren't so damn expensive.

      For some reason, I bought a couple of Rics earlier this year, a 12 and a 75th anniversary 6. I find myself suddenly playing a lot of Byrds and Petty. 👍

    Dear Mr. McGuire...the neck-through construction is on the 4000 series bass and a few of the solid body guitars. This is a set neck. PS The guitar can play more than two chords.

  • @DennisVernier
    @DennisVernier 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I was a kid I wanted one of these. It would have been my only guitar and I soon realized that I should have a 6-string electric first. 12-strings can be rather limiting...no string bends. We bought a used Gretsch Country Gentleman and later a Gibson ES-335. I eventually came across a used ES-335 (12-string) that I played for a number of years as a second guitar till the neck went on the thing. I managed to trade it off and I now have a Schecter 12-string electric. I personally think that Rickenbacker guitars are way over priced like German made Hofner basses. I'm satisfied with the Schecter.

    can you play it stringed as a 6 string if you want ?

    • @daniels1293
      @daniels1293 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      why wouldn't you just buy a 6 string, and a 12 string since you got 3 grand to blow on a guitar

    • @TheMichaelseymour
      @TheMichaelseymour 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont understand ? This rick probably costs 3 grand ...you cant get that jangly sound in cheap guitars - assuming you want to spend 1 ,500 $ on each guitar ....sure you can get some aproximations - but you really want the real deal - so i repeat ....can it handle 6 strings ? Probably....and when you need a 12 string in studio - Shazam ! ....you have one ...arrr , me smart boy

    • @daniels1293
      @daniels1293 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Seymour i mean, i understand the unique sound to it i just don't understand why you'd ever choose 6 over 12 when you have the choice, im sure it would function just fine as a six string since there wouldn't be anywhere near as much tension on the neck as you would with a 12 strings, might take some getting used to though because im pretty sure 12 string necks are a bit wider than 6 string ones. im sure theres some info on some guitar forums

    • @TheMichaelseymour
      @TheMichaelseymour 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      my point is - i can get the best of both worlds for one price - as i wouldnt play 12 enough to warrant getting one - but it would come in handy in the studio is what i mean

    • @daniels1293
      @daniels1293 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh okay, i didn't realize you weren't a huge 12 string player that makes more sense now. i mean like i said i don't think there would be an issue with having only 6 strings you might have to adjust the neck a bit to make up for the lack of tension, but you might not even have to do that.

    The "slim and fast-playing neck," as you call it, does not go through the body. The Rickenbacker 300 series guitars have set necks. Shouldn't you bother to find this stuff out before you make these videos?

    these guitars are not worth the money they should be renamed the Ripoffbacker there are loads of great 12 string electric guitars on the market for quarter of the price of a ric and easier to sell when you want to resell

    • @karmicselling4252
      @karmicselling4252 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty much none of them come close to producing the sound of a genuine Rickenbacker 12 string guitar. The exceptions would be some very expensive custom hand built replicas, and the late 1980s / early 1990s replicas manufactured by Greco and Tokai - although both of those were strung in the traditional 12 string configuration like the first 360/12 Rickenbacker produced for Suzi Arden in 1963.

  • @osimpossiveis7370
    @osimpossiveis7370 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That guitar is made in China. It's a chickenbacker . I've bought one. The original Rickenbacker doesn't have that letter R on the bridge. The chinese guitar is more beautiful, it has a thicker arm , so it's better to play than the american guitar. We can definetly say the chinese replica is as good as the american Rickenbacker.
