Thanks Kevin 👍 They are either there, or they are not! When they are present, you've got to try and make the most of it - fortunately it paid off this time!
A terrific session sir ,the trigger fish are a spectacular fish to catch, appreciate your efforts out there with the conditions you had to deal with . once again a pleasure to watch 👍🏼
What a great session, Mick. You certainly were trigger happy! I quite enjoyed the spray on the lens, it felt like I was on the beach too. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Thanks Nigel 👍 I was disappointed by the footage; but I suppose I needn't have been concerned about that, since it accurately shows the conditions under which the fish were caught.
Awesome again Mick your trigger fish look very like our leather jackets very tasty eating fish good for kids 2 eat very few bones (easy to fillet) use very light line small long shanked hook baited with prawn or squid, it was the first fish my daughter caught .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Hi again, is it Rod, or Mick, that you should be addressed as? ... what an entertaining video you managed to produce, in such awful conditions ... No Glasses, and constant attention to your camera lenses ... Bravo ... I trust that you kept at least one triggerfish for the table 💯 👌 👏
Well done on an excellent session 😊 We have a species of Trigger Fish here in NZ, called Leatherjackets....and very tasty they are too. September is rig building month for me before the hounds turn up next month
Hi Mick. Not the worst conditions to fish in but certainly far from the best! Well done for lasting the course. And what a great session. I have never caught a Trigger fish let alone seen one "in the flesh". They are fascinating creatures and look almost tropical. Do they have any spines or sharp gill rakes? Do they have any teeth. And can you eat them? Another great video. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, peaceful and fish filled 2023. Cheers. Ken.
Happy New Year Ken - yes they have large teeth similar to wrasse and can 'bite you off'. They are great to eat; but have very tough skin which makes it quite hard work to fillet them.
A very mucky day Michael but more than made up for with those magnificent trigger fish. I’d love to catch one of those but you don’t get many in Suffolk. Well done Michael on a great feat of angling.
Quite a lot coming out from this part of Chesil now - worth the visit for a chance to catch one. Have now had them three sessions in a row and from three different areas. Thanks Chris.
My parents didn't go hungry last week! I think they are sub-tropical / Mediterranean - perhaps someone more knowledgeable on here may like to inform us?
Yes, I've taken a few triggers and they are very good to eat; however I prefer bream. I've not fished the harbour much and haven't really done any good there. There are bass to be caught from the Portland Beach Rd. side and Sandsfoot Castle.
I took the first two, bigger triggers and the largest bream for my parents to eat! If I was returning it I would have removed that 'gaff' of a hook first. I might be completely wrong (and it may go 'against the grain'), but my thoughts are that the hook already in the fishes mouth was possibly only a minor annoyance to it - it was feeding OK (hooked a second time), very lively and powerful. I know its not exactly the same and at the risk of being controversial (that fish didn't ask for that hook to be there), some people choose to have piercing studs etc. on their tongues and cheeks and manage to eat properly and survive. Fish care is obviously of importance - but some also end up as food for us. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video. Thanks for getting out there in the less than barmy weather.
Thanks for that. Pleasant enough to fish in, but a nightmare to see what you're doing if you wear glasses and not the best of conditions to film in!
Thanks for persevering with elements Rod. It made for some classic armchair fishing.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching Tony.
OMG,5 triggers 😲,that will have made an awful lot of people very jealous. Top dangling 👍🎣🐟
And I’m going to presume you didn’t weigh the biggest ones 🤦♂️🎣🐟
Thanks Kevin 👍 They are either there, or they are not! When they are present, you've got to try and make the most of it - fortunately it paid off this time!
Congratulations that was a super session, the trigger fish are stunning fish.. well done and thank you 👍
Thank you Michael 👍 Yes, lovely fish to catch.
Those trigger fish look like something you'd catch while bonefishing on the Florida Keys. Very enjoyable video.
Thanks Laurie 👍 Very sporting fish.
Stunning session Mick and an awesome lesson for us all.
Many thanks Martin!
A terrific session sir ,the trigger fish are a spectacular fish to catch, appreciate your efforts out there with the conditions you had to deal with . once again a pleasure to watch 👍🏼
Many thanks for that - I always try my best to get decent footage; however conditions dictate.
A master class Rod of how to set your stalls out and achieve the fantastic results. Wonderful best wishes Chris.
Many thanks for that Chris.
What a great session, Mick. You certainly were trigger happy! I quite enjoyed the spray on the lens, it felt like I was on the beach too. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Thanks Rob 👍 Yes - I was probably over concerned about the footage quality and as you rightly say, it's authentic.
Those Trigger fish were amazing, good catch well done.
Thanks 👍 Lovely fish to catch.
Trigger fish are one of the nicest eating fish in the sea, good fishing!
You're right, but I prefer bream! Thanks for watching and commenting John.
Such a great day's fishing thanks for sharing the videos
You bet and many thanks for watching and commenting Danny.
Awesome session amazing fish 😁🎣👌
Thanks Stephen 👍
Cracking video Rod
Many thanks for that Mark.
I had no idea trigger fish could be caught off the shore. Great catch.
You can catch John Dory there too, and a host of other fish. The Stingray record was broken there a few years ago.
Plenty on Chesil this year. They are normally around, but seem more obliging than usual this year.
Awesome session 🎣🎣
Thanks 👍
Wow! That's what you call a session, well done. Really enjoyed it that one. Despite the conditions,it came across great. Thank you 👍🏻
Thanks Nigel 👍 I was disappointed by the footage; but I suppose I needn't have been concerned about that, since it accurately shows the conditions under which the fish were caught.
Fantastic Trigger at 21min. Ur video's are great - keep them coming Mick 👍👍
Many thanks Tony👍

Thanks Nick - triggers are also good to eat; however, I prefer black bream.

Many thanks John! Yes, the first two were eaten and it was a problem seeing what I was doing!
Well done. Fantastic session 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you Freddie 👍
Great stuff, you pulled the trigger 5 times!
Once made you "a hit man"
Twice made you an assassin
Five makes you Rod the serial killer 😲
Haha - thanks for that John - just the first two made it to the table!
well mate quality video and some nice fish 🐟
Many thanks Daniel
5trigger fish! your just showing off now 👍great angling mate tight lines.
Thanks for that 👍 When they are there, you've just got make the most of it - it may not happen again!
Trigger happy without a gun , top dangling
Many thanks Ian.
Well done on an excellent session 😊 We have a species of Trigger Fish here in NZ, called Leatherjackets....and very tasty they are too. September is rig building month for me before the hounds turn up next month
Thanks Ian - September here is possibly the best time of year for sea fishing - a great variety of species can be caught.
Excellent session👌🎣
Thanks again 👍

Sick video bro
Appreciate it
amazing. thank you.
Thanks Ian.
I like the look of your bucket seat . Where did you get it .
It’s a ridgemonkey seat. Search the carp shops
As Martin says XL Bucket system - I got mine online.
Good score again matey. Do you eat Triggerfish? Can you eat them? What a day though. Cheers
Thanks Allan - yes, very good to eat.
Well done, whereabouts do the Trigger fish come from? Also never saw you put the first two back did you take them home to eat?
Tight lines
Graham.
My parents didn't go hungry last week! I think they are sub-tropical / Mediterranean - perhaps someone more knowledgeable on here may like to inform us?
are trigger fish edible and whats the fishing like in portland harbour please.
Yes, I've taken a few triggers and they are very good to eat; however I prefer bream. I've not fished the harbour much and haven't really done any good there. There are bass to be caught from the Portland Beach Rd. side and Sandsfoot Castle.
the death of our queen has side tracked me ,,, but im here now
Long live the king
Nice sentiment - but life (ours) and fishing goes on. Thanks for watching.
Out of interest did you manage to get the second hook out of that Trigger fish’s mouth?
I took the first two, bigger triggers and the largest bream for my parents to eat! If I was returning it I would have removed that 'gaff' of a hook first. I might be completely wrong (and it may go 'against the grain'), but my thoughts are that the hook already in the fishes mouth was possibly only a minor annoyance to it - it was feeding OK (hooked a second time), very lively and powerful. @@rodsangleuk6283 ah fair play. Didn’t realise triggers were worth eating, thought they were meant to be really bony. Great video though 👍
