    I don’t think anyone here realizes that Nolan movies in particular are graded to best represent the original film print
    All of the “foggy blacks” and “overly green” shots are like that on purpose; because that’s how they looked on finished reels. It’s to stay authentic to how you would’ve seen the movie opening night
    Plenty of scenes in Oppenheimer have “foggy” blacks, and it looks EXACTLY how it looked when I saw it in IMAX 70mm

    The film looks STUNNING in hdr, the true film colors shie through as was intended. Why do so many idiots in these comments think that clipped sdr without the color contrast pop is better than this. GUYS THIS IS AS CLOSE TO THE REAL FILM AS WE GOT! YOU HEAR ME FOLKS! THE FILM AS IN THE 35MM AND 70MM PRINTS! GRIEF!

    The original blu ray was terribly oversharpened. Glad they fixed that on the 4K.

      And somehow people complain that the 4k one looks less sharp, no shit this is how it naturally should look lol

  • @bassmanluke
    @bassmanluke 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Judging this TH-cam comparison, I realise the HDR 4K is sharper… but the Blu ray SDR looks way more cinematic. There’s something about HDR which starts to look too perfect/fake. I own some of my fav movies in both bluray and 4K and have to say I’m torn always. The 4K pulls you in with the crispness and less noise, but blu ray always seems more cinematic and natural

    HDR is just a beast man. Own both versions, and I'll be sticking to the 4K. HDR really brings out the highlights, depth, and colour grading as intended by Nolan. Bluray got blown out whites.
    The firey explosions on SDR look like a giant white globe being turned on.
    Take note of the missing red buttons on SDR verses HDR - 4:20
    The clarity of the rubble in this scene and Batman's suit does not fade into the ground, matching hue on the rubble when comparing HDR to SDR - 7:40
    The weapons in the hands of the enemies are clearly defined in HDR when compared to SDR that you'd miss totally while watching the movie in SDR - 8:47
    The Bat signal actually looks like it is turned on in HDR when compared to SDR, which looks like the Batsy signal is powered by a 12V battery slowly dying into darkness - 9:20
    HDR is a higher dynamic range of colour captured as it looked on set. SDR can't be compared.
    Be it you prefer SDR that is your perogative. However, that is not the intended look in which the creator was aiming for, hence why it is known as the definitive edition of the movie for home cinema.

    The differences might look off when comparing side by side, but we need to trust the director when it comes to remastering the HDR version. Also look at the detail retained in the highlights on the explosion at 7:18

    I have both formats and the 4K version absolutely obliterates the Blu Ray. The colours on the blu ray always looked half baked.

    • @hype88

      Gotta love a nearly pointless comparison like this considering it's a downgraded quality TH-cam video and many people watching this probably aren't even seeing the HDR in well.. actual HDR which makes a littttttle bit of a difference. I agree though, it's absolutely no comparison and the 4k wins by a good amount imo as well. it always cracks me up when people pull out the pitchforks on still images especially 🙃

    I am so glad I discovered this video. The 4k version is trash! The colors are so off that the Joker’s suite isn’t purple anymore!! I was sure my player was damaged or something, given the kind of praise reviewers have given to this 4k version. Goes to show the BS these reviewers can spew

    • @kingtrance307
      @kingtrance307 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Are all the reviewers full of BS simply because you don’t agree? Most people agree with the reviewers but it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Sure you may sacrifice some color accuracy on the remastered Ultra version but the “HDR Pop” on the 4K Ultra disc speaks for itself and is absolutely amazing. Again it’s just a matter of personal preference.

      Older comment but i still feel like clarifying. HDR is really hard to showcase when it's being shown on a SDR display. Hell, this video isn't even in HDR to begin with. HDR makes movies POP. See Encanto, Moana, or John Wick 4 on 4k blu ray. But unless you have the proper equipment (and even if you have a tv or monitor that supports HDR, if it doesn't have high peak brightness you're STILL missing out) you're not going to be able to appreciate how much better HDR looks.

      @@TejoLucas son muy pocos los displays que pueden reproducir un HDR que se asimile a los monitores de referencia. El problema es que lo están produciendo como si estuviera listo para cualquier display lo cual no es cierto. Yo no me la voy a dar de rico no lo soy pero he hecho sacrificios para poder tener un televisor que tenga no solo el brillo, sino los colores y el procesador para reproducir fielmente estás escenas. No hay una sola vez donde la versión SDR se vea mejor más que las veces cuando es falso HDR, el cual es muy común en estos tiempos. Una cosa es HDR y otra cosa es 4K por cierto. Estas escenas no se ven mejor en SDR, si las reproduces en un televisor capaz podrás notar que es mucho mejor el HDR. Es una lástima que en su mayoría se distribuya de manera mal implementadas por displays que no son capaces de reproducir el contenido tal cual como fue masterizado
