2008 IMO Has Better Color

SDR has the best looking image.

The 2008 has the right mood and light imo. Seems like the others made the image brighter and thats not good for the darker scens with monsters and effects. But the 2016 color grade seem very fitting sometimes. Need to make a version with the best of all worlds!

The HDR is actually very good here in Blade Runner 1982.

The curse of green HDR strikes again. Looks absolutely abysmal. White's are meant to be white not green. Awful colour grading.

Shadows look much better on the 4k one, the Bluray had this massive crushing of blacks that always annoyed me. Level of detail is roughly the same in both versions, the 4K disc has better grain distribution though.

2016 colour grading by a mile. 2021 4k for sharpness. I own all 4.. The Shout Factory 2016 is very sharp also.

Im a big fan of the movie, im just glad we have choices, i own all 3 transfers, the bluray is just fine and looks great for a blu ray honestly if you're saving money just get the blu ray however if yoir a huge fan id recommend the 4k, the fine details all pop out, the colors are vibrant and overall an immersive experience

It's interesting how much variance there is. Some shots are better in HDR and others better in SDR. I feel like it takes a real vision to properly design an HDR color timing. It's an art that has significant impact on the final tone of the picture. I would like to see the HDR compared against the DVD SDR as those two color timings are a lot closer to each other and to the original cinema release.

I like SDR better. At least from this comparison. Some HDR better , some same, some SDR better . But I prefer the brighter/warmer filter on SDR

Picked up the 2017 SDR Blu ray yesterday from a charity shop for £1 looks the best I have ever seen the movie, the DTS HD soundtrack was also amazing. Everyone slated this version I don’t know why all the hate it looks beautiful. Great extras also best £1 I have spent!

Just stick with the 2010 Theatrical version

DVD has the most accurate original colors, close second is the 2015. The other 2 are complete and utter revisionist garbage. Might as well be another movie altogether.

Okay to break it down 2017 is unique giving it the vibe with the orange filter like in some mexican movies which is a good touch 2019 is the real life HDR upgrade over the SDR And IMAX is the redefined version of 2019 for those who dont understand that means better texture and of course with IMAX your getting more surrounding basically scenes you've never seen IMAX is incredible but those who knows streaming will never beat fisical disc there's just more quality in them

I love HDR! HDR is something simple that has a profound effect on entertainment. Your eyes instantly notice realistic light shading.

so happy i got the original extended on dvd. wish they gave us a 2010 version of the extended on bluray though. not a fan of 2020 version, but at least they tried to fix it a little. the 2012 is awful and kind of mad at myself for buying it back in the day.

after watching the 35mm scan a few times , the 2000 DVD and 2015 bluray completely changed the look of the movie. The 2017 blu releases are still off because now they are greenish, while the original theatrical version was very blue in almost every scene.

Is the 2010 bd the anthology set? If it is idk if it’s the region free ones that are just awful looking and fuzzy like dvds or what but they don’t even look like Blu-ray’s.

4k just looks darker

I saw this movie on a 70mm print recently and the HDR version is much truer to what I saw in the theater.

HDR is just a beast man. Own both versions, and I'll be sticking to the 4K. HDR really brings out the highlights, depth, and colour grading as intended by Nolan. Bluray got blown out whites. The firey explosions on SDR look like a giant white globe being turned on. Take note of the missing red buttons on SDR verses HDR - 4:20 The clarity of the rubble in this scene and Batman's suit does not fade into the ground, matching hue on the rubble when comparing HDR to SDR - 7:40 The weapons in the hands of the enemies are clearly defined in HDR when compared to SDR that you'd miss totally while watching the movie in SDR - 8:47 The Bat signal actually looks like it is turned on in HDR when compared to SDR, which looks like the Batsy signal is powered by a 12V battery slowly dying into darkness - 9:20 HDR is a higher dynamic range of colour captured as it looked on set. SDR can't be compared. Be it you prefer SDR that is your perogative. However, that is not the intended look in which the creator was aiming for, hence why it is known as the definitive edition of the movie for home cinema.

So glad I bought these versions of the films. Sometimes there is a small error or something that could have been done better, but overall the changed color palette and HDR gives it so much more life and immersion, which then also allows the true 4K to show even more detail.

Hdr brightness and color omg!

This comparison is 100% pointless with HDR disabled for the video. There's no way to see what the 4K UHD looks like without the HDR enabled, that gives it the biggest advantage.
