Nice overview! This book changed my life and answered many questions, some I didn't know I had. Wright inspired me to really study the Bible and my faith.
Very good. I have enjoyed Wright over many years. He and Gordon Fee are my favourite theologians. Also enjoyed your overview of Paul and Palestine. Am aware of the book but never read it. You have grace to make clear. 🙏
God bless, N.T Wright is a good place to start if you want to understand christianity and check the Bible Project on youtube. Awesome videos and art. This is not an invitation to conversion just to understand each other better
You should keep studying. If there is a God (and I believe there is), He is not threatened with us asking hard questions. One of my favorite books for naturally skeptical people about how doubt can even bring us closer to God is "Reaching for the Invisible God".
Thank you for sharing. I have not read that book, but it sure sounds like you made a good comprehensive summary of it. Have you studied the theological term "Enthusiasm?" (not to be confused with zeal or being excited about something). I've heard that it has been associated with early forms of Gnostic dualism, which sounds very similar to the "space-ship" theology. Also, do you know, is the title of Wright''s book a spin-off of C.S. Lewis's "Surprised by Joy?"
Hi Caleb. Your theology book reviews help me. One positive criticism: I make up abbreviations for these books but I pronounce the letters: I say "S" "B" "H". Or for "Jesus and the Victory of God," I would say "J" "V" "G", that is Jay Vee Gee.
Hello my friend. I want to thank you for this channel and really look forward to more of your content. God is using you bro, I'm grateful for you and this channel. I am currently reading this book because of your recommendation and it is amazing! Also I wanted to ask you, I'm really trying to get into church history and wanted to get YOUR TOP 5 Recommended Church History Books. And what are your thoughts on 1. Justo Gonzalez' The Story of Christianity 1&2, 2. Everett Ferguson's Church History Volumes 3. Church History in Plain Language 4. Diarmaid Macculloch's A History of Christianity: The First 3000 Years I'd really appreciate your input. Thank you friend.
I enjoy your videos. However, are you going to do any videos on Women Theologians, Women Biblical Scholars, and People of Colour Theologians/Biblical Scholars besides St. Augustine? Thanks.
Good question, I've referenced Elenore Stump (a favorite scholar of mine!) in about ten videos and I hope to summarize some of her books soon since she's been such a big influence on me. I also did the Robert Alter series, he's Jewish which some consider to be a scholar of color, and there are more middle eastern bible scholars I've been learning a lot from who I hope to review soon. I also do literature reviews sometimes and I loved reviewing Marilynne Robinson and Carson McCullers. Beyond that though if you have any recommendations I'm always open to suggestions!!
really? the most important bible scholar in the world? N.T. Wright is teaching a different gospel. And what does the bible say about a person who teaches a different gospel? Wow, this "man" has become an idol. and it is amazing the he thinks that he has the answers to what the church has missed for 1600 years. Really?
Very clear and understandable. Love the breakdowns you do.

This was an excellent summary - earned a subscription from me!
One thumb up for the most important TH-cam video ever made. ;-)
Just ordered the book and am excited to read it!
Love the method and presentation of your reviews. 10/10!
I read this book after my mother died in September 2013. It was the perfect book for the occasion.
Brilliant, interesting, intelligent - Caleb your videos are all of these.
Thank you for all your kind support!

Fantastic video ! I loved his book about Jesus, so if this one is even better I’ll get myself a copy. Thanks.
Yeah and if you read it I'd be interested to see a review on your channel!!
@@CalebSmith3 Will do.
Its like the same aim as Dallas Willard in his Divine Conspiracy..though Willard talks about 4 gospels heard rstger than 3

Another homerun!!
I'm buying it on audible to listen to during my commute.
BTW, retired people in Great Britain are called pensioners

Hi Caleb, sorry it has taken awhile to reply. I would recommend the books of Dr. Love L. Sechrest. For a start.
So IS NT an idealist or not?
According to this video's chart, yes.
the Christians in the UK, the US, and elsewhere did not end slavery by little personal itty bitty things.
You look like Christian Logic
LOOOOOOOL

Church has only missed this for 500 years
