You hold down the odometer button with the ignition totally off, then turn the key just one click (while holding the button still). When the odometer display changes to some other numbers you can let go of the button, then the gauges will go through the test pattern
I did this on my old R129 SL500, and my E36 came with the rings already installed, I love them!

Is it plastic or aluminum
They are plastic, I don't believe you can get Aluminium ones unless they are custom made.
I bought the same rings but mine doesn’t want to lock. It keeps on falling
@@jvkaram1720 hmmm that's weird, maybe putting a little bit of silicone or something around the edge of the rings would make it have a tighter fit?
