Installing CCFL Angel Eyes on a BMW E36
มุมมอง 34K4 ปีที่แล้ว
When I bought my BMW the headlights were different, one was original and the other aftermarket. So I purchased another aftermarket one to keep things consistent, and while doing that I got some Angel Eyes as well. In this video I show you how I installed them. Fixing Maxspeedingrods Coilover Knocking on BMW E36
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
The Maxspeedingrods coilovers on my BMW E36 are quite decent for the price; however, the pillow ball mount on the front left seized up causing a clunking sound. I decided to replace these mounts with OEM BMW strut mounts, as they provide a smoother ride and last longer. This video shows how I did it. Whats the part number?
Your came with this gage cluster or did you change it ;
E36 forever 😉 my favourite car ever. Working on mine can't wait to go for 1st ride
Aftermarket regulator clips are junk 12years with my e36s and I’ve never had to pull oem bmw regulator cotter pins the way you did shown here past the middle point. A customer brought me regulator clips that aren’t bmw and they kept poping out so I’ll try to lock them in the way you did here and hope I don’t cut my hands in the process. Anyone reading this do yourself a favor and get them thru bmw and just a hard snap will pop the ball into the plastic socket and leave the clip alone no need to pull them further forward than how they were unpacked
Thank you for this comment!
Are the angel eyes an addition to the existing halogen lamps ?
This is fantastic work!
Nice video. My window will not go up straight, bought an entire new regulator arm still no luck.
Gracias por el video. me va a servir para instalarlos en el mio.
dont put brake cleaner on a rubber belt.
Why are you wearing flip flops?
SO NICE!!!!! Thanks You
Awesome tutorial. I'm about to swap all of my power steering hoses and reservoir.
Depo head lights are shit
great video - the clips you bought look good (at 0:22) because they have the black rubber 'buffer' part integrated, as the original BMW ones did. I got some and they didn't have them so I had to re-fit the old ones (the old black rubber parts). I'm not sure they are essential but they are probably better installed than not. Many thanks
hey mate, do you know if this shift knob will fit onto a short shifter?
I gotta do all 4 doors - this video is perfect. Thanks for the help.
Great video
That sound is so nice, defo a great upgrade. Im highly considering getting this same catback exhaust from muffler kings considering we have the same spec car. If it's alright, how much was the exhaust job done for?
It was about $700 all up I believe. Definitely a good investment
@@aussiee3626 Oh wow thats so good, love your E36 and im taking a lotof inspiration from it! Your a legend mate
Hi! Also is this m42 or m44?
thx bro I fix it
Good job bro.. I equally have a E36 wagon BMW, i need these angles eyes, how can i get it to fix it in my car?
How comes it uses atf and not power steering fluid
How many cans of paint and primer did you use ?
how’s it handling? and drastic riding difference?
What size is that spacer? I’m at the tool shop and I can’t find that spacer
The air bleeds by only turning the steering?
I was considering the same route, but then I stumbled upon another one: - jacking up - sucking reservoir empty - pulling return line (thinner one) off - closing/plugging connection at reservour - leading pulled off return hose into empty container - moving from lock to lock while engine off - keeping open reservour topped off with fresh fluid, making sure it's never empty Supposedly, once the fluid drips into the empty container the same color you pour into the reservoir, the system is flushed. Has anyone tried this with a BMW?
This is 😡
This is amazingly useful, im doing the same job and was feeling smth wrong with the mounts and luckily i went over this video and realized that i needed these spacers, keep it up mate
Very clean work mate. Thumbs up.
Good video mate. You did a nice job there. I have an E36 M3 and it's been in storage mostly the last 5 years or so. Initially the driver's door window stopped working, and it's not a failed window motor as such, it just seems to be jammed somehow. I recently moved the car to another location and to my surprise, now the left one has also jammed up.. sheesh !! When you press the buttons, you can hear the "click", but no movement. I've been told it could be a bad bushing. It's a bushing which resides between the motor and the regulator. Hopefully, I will have a chance to go in and take a look, but I'd thought I'd share my issue here in a hope that others may have had the same problem. Replacement bushings from BMW show a plastic type and a metal type, but I don't know if the metal ones are supposed to be a superseded part over the plastic or are they specific to perhaps coupe or sedan. Not too sure at this stage. What is weird is that the car has low mileage and doesn't get much use, so wear and tear is not primarily the issue. One day it worked just just fine and then the next, nothing. Just a click. The tell tale sign, was when I go to open either door and the window drop option didn't do its thing. This was the uh oh moment... Then further checks revealed the inevitable. I do have a brand new Genuine window motor ready to go in on the driver's side, but I'll have to wait till I get it open and investigate more thoroughly. I may need more parts, like that bushing I mentioned.. If any part looks suspect, it will be replaced. No good having one new and some old parts in there. Freshen the whole lot up so it all works perfectly I reckon, for the few extra bucks. It's worse having to go back in the second or third time.
Dude. This is exactly my problem too. Both sides now dont work, click sounds, rarely used car etc etc on a '99m3. Purchased motor but i should have done more investigating. I plan on working on it this weekend
@@fatoputso7375 I know the frustration man. One guy said to give the side of the window motor a whack with a dead blow hammer. That seems to do the trick he reckons although I'm yet to try it. You need to pull the motor apart and just see if there is an obstruction. It could also be a bad bushing like I mentioned too. If the motor is electrically ok, then replacing it would be a waste of a "new" motor I think. Just hang onto it in case you have no luck. It may just be that the grease has hardened and it just struggles to turn. Who knows. I haven't had a look at mine as it's gone into storage while I build a big shed. So it may be locked away for another 6 months. Good luck and let us know how you go.
@@tonymontana897door card is off, just bought a used motor on ebay ~$50.00 new bushings from fcp, will report back once received, wish me luck. Ill leave passenger side alone, the only person that would ride along is my wife but she hates being in that car, and my kids are too small so the m is my Saturday night/sunday cruiser, i can live for now w out the passenger.
@@fatoputso7375 I had just bought my 99 M3 when I started dating my now wife and she loved going in it. She hasn't been in it for years though and now It's just a storage Queen until I finish building my new man cave shed. Its going to be huge ! I'd be interested to see what you find in the motor autopsy. I'm confident the exchange motor will work an a new bushing is a must I think. I won't be able to get to do mine until at least 6 months from now, so hopefully all goes well with yours mate.
@@tonymontana897 sounds just like me my freind. Spot on. For sure ill respond back on the autopsy. Btw i sorta effed up my door card as i forgot to remove the little bolt near the darn side airbag. Hopefully the only f up i encounter. Still pissed off at the germans regarding the dam rivets.
yea thanks for not sharing how to connect it. Im going for another youtuber :))))
He literally explained that, what do you mean
Thats not a catback lol, catback means it is straight piped from the cat
Incorrect. It just means any exhaust system modified from the cat converter back, including a muffler
Awesome video, definately got a sub from me! Hope to see more in the future!
Thanks mate!
Theres in the trunk and holes on the side of the car jack stand on the trunk.... Wtheck. I've had my car for a long time and did not know that
Yeah it's pretty cool!
Well done .
Great video! May I suggest an m3 bumper? :)
Yes that's definitely in the pipeline
Normally I don't like the exhaust noise on these but this is 👌
Thanks mate!
Hii first yo say that de negative is brown and 12v + yellow and then when you done the installation you weld the brown and grey why?
nice e36 man! quick question, are you running spacers or pcd adapters to fit those rims? if so do you have any names or links to em?
Hi, can you tell me if these headlights fit on the bmw e36 96, but 4 doors?
Yes they should fit on all E36's, I believe they have the same headlights
I have a 96 4 door and they are completely different headlights. I already ordered the ccfl angel eyes but cannot open the sedan lights housing. Any ideas?
Good video bro! Check mine too please 🤗
Did you notice if the steering wheel was a lot easier to turn, after changing the fluid? I have 133k n=miles on my e36, and not sure if and or when the fluid was changed
Yes it was definitely a little bit easier to turn the wheel. Might be good to do a flush/change so you know
@@aussiee3626 Will do, thx!!
Did you delete the cat?
Nah it's still there, has to be by law here.
Bro, quick question, my window doesnt line up with the rubber frame, any advice? also it keeps popping out from the butterfly clips.
Hi mate, sounds and looks good, we are restoring a 318is coupe and was wondering if you had xforce part number/description for resonators and muffler?
Thx im going to apply this to my z3. I think its similar to e36 .
Yes should be a similar process
@@aussiee3626 my local autozone gave me a green fliud instead of red. Tring to find the red one. If i find my owners book from like 20 years ago. ( yes i know im old) .is green okay or ot has to be red?.
Colour shouldn't matter, as long as it is automatic transmission fluid (Dexron III or above) that is fine. Unless the z3 uses a different type of fluid, I'm not entirely sure.
@@aussiee3626 any advice on checking for a short. My ac compressor. Dosent engage. AMD radio just sounds lime snow . thx. Bud .
Did this to my left rear break light light today, worked well. But the break switch is still playing up so I've ordered a new one. Hope it works. P.s nice e36 you have
Glad the fix could help. Hope the new brake switch works. Thanks mate!
Hey mate how much did the custom exhaust cost if you dont mind me asking? thinking of getting one done myself
he said around 900AUD
Yes Matt is right, it was around $900 for the complete install and everything. It's definitely a good investment
Brilliant. Thanks for making this.
