This is a really good video on how to prepare for your own custom seat pan on any bike. I found your video as I'm looking to do something similar on a 78 BMW r100 I just picked up actually the last 3 days I've watched tons of videos for doing several different customized parts and I have to say your video is very informative and concise and has good advice on the products you'll need. It was short and to the point. Thank you I really appreciate your effort in posting this.
Nice job. Quite creative also.I love that cutout you made in the seat. Its going to have a really cool look once the upholstery goes on. Thx for the ideas.
Nice work! I just picked up an 82 GS550 that was sitting in the back of the sellers garage since 1992. Got it running this week (carbs cleaned and rebuilt) so now it’s time to tear it down and make it my own (cafe, scrambler, etc). Your videos are a great inspiration.
Your project is looking great, proper cafe racer lines and proportions, very difficult to find this days that everybody is “building” cafe racers that looks like anything but cafe racers. Good job, keep it up!!
Hi Mike! I’m rebuilding a 77 gs550 of my own, and I am currently stuck on trying to decide what kind of sealant to use for closing up the crank case, the clymer manual recommends a “non-hardening, non-silicone sealant” but I can’t seem to find anything like this still being made. I’ve looked into some yamabond 4 and 5 however, 4 is silicone based and 5 seems to be hardening, I don’t want to cement the thing shut, but I don’t want it to fail either, I’m thinking of going with yamabond 4 regardless of the silicone base. Any advice or recommendations of what you used for this? Thanks!

Wow. I like the video showing the process. Really nice.
Loving this build! It's been a year. Can't wait to see the finished result. When you get it done, you should do a POV ride along

Thank you! The bike is actually finished already! Stay tuned for a final reveal video.

Bro this is like a van Gogh or the Mona Lisa of seat pans! Truly not just saying that. You've inspired me to stray from welding one!
Thanks, Brady! It was a lot of labor, but I feel it was well worth it. Good luck on your journey!
Thanks bro, love from Indonesia 😊
Awesome Cafe racer build
Just found this channel. Looking forward to the next video 👊
This is awesome
Nice! You make it look easy👌
It's not too difficult. Lots of work, but easily doable by anyone willing to give it a shot. Thanks for watching!
Awesome job!
That came out excellent. What's that black plastic material you are bending with the heat gun ~12:50 ?
It's Kydex thermoplastic.
Thanks! New sub!

I didn't split the cases on mine, but I'd use the 4. Check out this explanation though. th-cam.com/video/pr8JwEm1olw/w-d-xo.html
