- A big step in the cafe racer build is the fiberglass seat pan that is custom to the modified motorcycle seat frame. We used Polyester Laminating resin and fiberglass to build this seat pan, and then pad it with foam.

I love the do it your self attitude and inventiveness. I can see we all just try to find a way to make it work well and look good. Heading to the garage now. Appreciate your content.
Perfect instructions. My son is rebuilding my CD200 Benly into rat look/ cafe racer fashion for a project as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award and the seat is one part I have been stumped on. Thankfully I am competent in working with fibreglass, would never have thought of this idea. Now have a plan! Thanks for the video.
Thanks a Ton for sharing this! Made re-making the seat pan for my old Dunstall Cafe kit a LOT easier. I originally had cut down an S3 Kawi seat pan, but Father Time had caused that to become a fragile, broken mess! Some Duct tape allowed me to piece it back together well enough to use it as a pattern for the new one!
The pop rivets are genius. I was stumped till I came across your video. Thank you.
Love this Cafe Racer content! Helped me understand how to do a seat!
Would you be open to making a seat for a project I’m working on and what might it cost!
I would LOVE to see how your friend's seat came out of the mould as I am looking to make a seat of virtually the same style for my KZ750 bike!
Thanks for the video!
Andrew, from Far North Queensland, Australia.
We loved following along with this project! Awesome job, it came out so good! 🏍
Thanks for the support! Excited to share the next idea I have for the bike
After hours of looking.... Finally!
This is great!
I hope it helps! Checkout Total Boat for any of the products I mentioned.
...ive had good luck using ONLY saran wrap as a release agent... great vid and im now inspired to start a seat project!
Thanks for watching! I’m starting a new seat soon. It’s so much easier than I thought it would be.
thats cool,
im wanting to make a custom seat for my bike and this has helped give me confidence to try
That’s awesome! I’ve bought a few new. It’s easier then you think.
@@furthernorthfab ive never used fibreglass so ive been putting it off for so long but now its time to start experimenting i think
thanks for the ideas.
great help.
Well done mate👍
Interesting seat build without all the bullshit like other youtube videos, looking forward to your next installment...I too am a wood worker creating a custom Ducati S2R and need to sort my seat pan...
Thanks, Nigel!
So cool man! I really want to try fiberglass at some point after this!
It was super fun to work with. Smelly and itchy, but fun to work with. You ever try doing leatherwork on a motorcycle seat?
@@furthernorthfab No, but trying to learn some basic leather upholstery techniques is on my list - I figure it could be a cool way to incorporate leather into some larger projects and furniture...we'll see haha
Can’t wait
Looks good! Done something similar but am thinking about using rivit nuts in the fibreglass to fasten it to my sub frame by screwing in from the bottom instead. You think that would work?
Watch the other video I made about making a carbon fiber seat pan 😜
Hi man thanks for the vedio can you guide me with my bike
how much epoxy resign do I need for the custom seat ?
Not a lot. Total Boat sells a quart starter kit of their high performance that should be enough.

@@furthernorthfabany idea what is the difference between table top epoxy?
Table top epoxy is for doing a flood level coat and is super thin and runny. Awesome for a bar top not ideal for this kind of work lol
what foam did you use?
So it’s an extra firm upholstery foam.
Where are your follow up videos? 😭
It’s coming!

Thanks Vincent!
Did you hear that Matthew McConaughey lost his left hand in a motorcycle accident?
Now he's allright, allright, allright.
Yeah, that was a bad joke. But thanks for that.
