"Terrafirminator" works as a pun on at least three different things: The Latin "terra firma," meaning "solid ground" "Terraform," to transform/adapt a planet so as to resemble the earth, especially so that it can support human life. Terminator: The killer robots from the movies Whoever came up with that deserves a raise.
Ok so I could have sworn there was a 3rd one of these movies. I haven’t seen any of them, but I remember the trailers for both Gnomeo and Juliet and Sherlock Gnomes, but I also vaguely remember a 3rd one that’s less detailed in my head. Have I just Mandela effected the existence of that into my brain? Has it never existed? WHY DO I REMEMBER TRAILERS FOR A THIRD GNOMEO AND JULIET MOVIE?!
I actually unironically liked the first movie. I did not know there was a sequel. The flamingo's backstory always made me sad. (past tense because last time i watched this was 5 years ago and i dont know how i would feel about this movie if i watched it now.) this song is still stuck in my head though. The scene where they meet is just beautiful. Also Gnomeo is the only attractive character in this (though there is a chance I only think this because of my lack of interest in girls). Definitely childhood crush.
I loved this movie as a kid and practically searched for the movie’s iconic song. When the sequel came out I was just as excited. The twist had me expecting Moriaty to come (which he did) and I wasn’t surprised. But did surprise me was that Watson plotted the whole thing! Then it made me think, how long would it take for Watson to snap and become the next Moriaty?
I've seen this movie so many times it's burnt into my brain. It was the only movie we had on DVD when the cable was out bc of snow. It was hell watching it over and over. It was a personal hell
I think the news anchor who said "this is a case for Sherlock Gnomes" thought they were making a silly pun. This is the only logical explanation I can come up with.
When I was studying Shakespeare in English Literature and we were learning about Romeo and Juliet we were forced to watch Gnomeo and Juliet as well as Leonardo Di Caprio Romeo and Juliet. For a class filled with 16 year olds we were vibin to Gnomeo and Juliet 😂
I started whimpering like a puppy and kicking my legs like a silly person in the silly people house, thinking a little too hard about Sherlock x Watson
Gnomeo my beloved how I have missed you ao!!!! Fr I used to be SO obsessed with this movie as a kid and I had an unusually strong sttraction to Gnomeo, that gnome solidified my non-human crushes for years and years to come.
‘They’re in the begonias!’ ‘Do I look like a begonia to you?’ ‘No, more like a pansy’ I watched the first one and I still don’t know if my enjoyment is ironic or not.
i'm so sad i couldn't possibly be in this video. gnomeo and juliet is the world's greatest movie and it deserves no hate. it was built in heaven by all of the angels and it will always be the best movie ever.
Not gonna lie, Featherstone's backstory legitimately broke my heart and made me feel bad for him. Imagine not only were your owners having a divorce and leaving each other, but also taking away your love, and you can't do anything, and they can't do anything either. And you know you'll never see them again... I'm glad that he found another love by the end of the movie and he was happy again.
One of my managers collects gnomes and the other managers know and often get her whatever gnomes products we are currently selling, so sometimes I just find gnomes around the frameshop waiting for my manager to take them home.
Are we not gonna talk about how one of the gnomes, I think the one that ends up with the frog is voiced by Wheatley's voice actor? Cause it was a big jumpscare for me
these movies (esp gnomeo and juliet) were my childhood like damn i remember watching them all the time in the car cause we had one of those vans where we could put in a dvd and there was a screen. that is to say these movies are permanently embedded in my brain
This one review made me so mad for no reason 😭 when they say "This is a job for Sherlock Gnomes" it's meant to be humourous, they don't actually know that Sherlock Gnomes exists. It's just a pun 😭
I imagine they came as a set, although I like the adoption theory as well. Like, when you buy a four pack of Calico Critters/Sylvania Family toys and there's a pair of adults, a baby and a child
when i watched Sherlock Gnomes i thought it was hilarious in that one scene where Moriarty goes “i Am ThE sUn AnD yOu ArE tHe MoOn” and i still do also pls do Knives Out or Glass Onion!
I have seen Sherlock Gnomes 50 times. I had a Gnome party on my 50th watch 💀 love that movie Pie Moriarty is Unironically the best version of Moriarty in ANY Sherlock Holmes Adaptation
I honestly have to agree. Like, he has such little screen time and yet he was so funny in the end! I never thought I’d say anything positive about these movies…
I love the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes movies partly because Moriarty looks like the president on the US $50 bill and partly because he's excellent in that role. However! The lil dude at the end of Sherlock Gnomes has such a wonderfully threatening and unhinged aura while still being cute and that will never not be funny to me
I haven't watched this movie since around the time it came out, i don't even think i watched it on cinema, just the regular old tv, but one thing about me is that my kindergarten teacher thought it was apropriate to play a movie version of Romeo&Juliet to the class of 5 year olds, like the actual thing, so 6 to 7 year old me was incredibly glad when Gnomeo and Juliet didn't die at the end
I used to watch this movie a bunch as a kid. When I rewatched it recently I spent majority of the film laughing my ass off because I found out Gnomeo was voiced by James McAvoy I laughed even harder when I found out the Shakespeare statue was voiced by Patrick Stewart
I looked for this movie for a long time and eventually began thinking it was just a dream. About a year ago I finally found it once again. I wish it *was* a dream.
4:06 this comment makes me so fucking mad. shakespeare DID add a dance party montage to the end of his version. he added a dance party montage to the end of ALL his plays. at the end of every shakespeare play, all the actors do a choreographed jig. he INVENTED the ending dance party montage.
I like the idea of sentient gnomes if only because there's a tree near my house that someone painted a small red door on where it starts to separate into roots at the base of the trunk and sometimes, there are gnomes outside it in different positions (my favorite is when they're playing checkers) and I'd like to believe that they really live there.

My primary school had this after school club where kids who didn't have any other clubs would go until their parents came to pick them up this was one of the films they'd put on while you did other stuff i think... i may have misremembered it but because it was shown so many times and you wouldn't really see the whole film it ruined the film they put on for me so it also ruined penguins of Madagascar and the bee movie a tragedy
Did we go to the same school because I was subjected also to gnomeo ans juliet in after-school-club and the bee movie until 6pm when my mother came to take me
@@cursedkai2627 Maybe....
these 2 were my otp as a kid, very glad this movie’s getting more recognition
gnomeo and juliet is unironically my favorite romeo and juliet retelling
I remember watching the first movie when my grandparents old dog called Bandit was still alive lying on my little brothers lap, he looked kind of like a non-fuzzy borzai without the big ol snoot
So he was a long legged boy?
4:04 the funniest thing is Shakespeare's plays DID have a dance party at the end when they were originally represented in the 1600s. The actors did a little jig at the end of the show to be able to leave the scene (as there was no curtain) and lighten the mood after all the tragedy.
This movie changed my childhood I made my mum put it on all day all night at the point I remember the entire plot and so many lines it changed my childhood for the better (I still love it even though I know it’s quite bad) when mrs flamingo got taken away from mr flamingo my world shattered that’s when I knew love will never be the same 😭😭
*edit* I’m proud to say this movie completely changed my life and my view of romance 😢
Sherlock Gnomes, a movie that changed me in a way no movie ever has. ✨Such a cinematic masterpiece totally✨and they are right the johnlock is strong with this one LOL
this movie felt like a collective fever dream
reminder that the person who played wheatley from portal 2 also voices a character in these movies :)
Pog
At 4:06 the funny thing is that traditionally Shakespeare plays did/do have a jig at the end to show a play is over and to lighten the mood
I hate that my immediate first thought upon seeing the thumbnail was "wtf that's gnomeophobic"
WAIT. You're telling me this movie had a sequel ???
This movie I saw in a small theatre while on vacation that one time and that I never heard of ever again before right now ?
Okay.
I didn’t realize there were people who don’t love Gnomeo and Juliet
I was obsessed with the gnomeo and juliet movie when I was little. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea, but I watched it really often for a couple of months then I forgot it even existed and you reminded me of that weird period of my life . Thanks 👍
when me and my brother were little we used to be OBSESSED with this movie it was the only thing we ever watched and I can't fathom why to this day, when sherlock gnomes was announced I remember being so hyped 😭
When I was a kid i always thought Juliet was hot, but in like a little kid way. Like, not knowing how you felt. The fact that I only just realized that I had a crush on Juliet confirms my internalized bisexuality even more.
this was my childhood, i probably have the script memorized
Reviews on 02:58 and 06:16 are my personal favorites! 07:14 is a mood, and 07:29 is truly inspiring.
Thank you, tonka, for reminding me about this movie - really liked it as a kid! Gotta watch it tonight.
Also will you do reviews for Flushed Away? I bet they're hilarious!
Edit: shout-out to review on 08:47, for sheer length!
Glad you enjoyed the video! :) I can definitely make sure Flushed Away is on my to-do list!
@@tonkajoey08 Yay!
@@СарраКарагозянwait is flushed away the one with a rat flushed down the toilet cuz if so I barely remember it
"Terrafirminator" works as a pun on at least three different things:
The Latin "terra firma," meaning "solid ground"
"Terraform," to transform/adapt a planet so as to resemble the earth, especially so that it can support human life.
Terminator: The killer robots from the movies
Whoever came up with that deserves a raise.
There was only the two it's okay these things happen
I don't remember a third one
There’s a terrible gnome movie called ‘Gnome Alone’, released by a different studio in 2017. Maybe that’s the one that’s haunting you?
@@Whipwinder thats what I was thinking about too
You're good I swear there was more than one Nightmare Before Christmas movie.
There still isn't.
when i was younger i used to think this WAS where romeo and juilet came from
the fact that NO ONE even bothered to bring up irene 💀
I actually unironically liked the first movie. I did not know there was a sequel.
The flamingo's backstory always made me sad.
(past tense because last time i watched this was 5 years ago and i dont know how i would feel about this movie if i watched it now.)
this song is still stuck in my head though.
Just after you read the review about the gas station biscuit, I got an add for a wawa croissant. 10/10 I think I’m being hacked
this is probably unironically my most watched movie, for various reasons and situations
True story I had like a two week long Gnomeo and Juliet obsession right around Halloween and ended up GOING AS GNOMEO for halloween that year
Shocked that no one pointed out how Gnomeo’s hair eyebrows and beard are all different colors because that’s all I can think about when I look at him
I think the news anchor who said "this is a case for Sherlock Gnomes" thought they were making a silly pun.
6:17 oml Moriarty literally looks like the child of Squidgy from Justin Time and the Pillsbury Doughboy
I started whimpering like a puppy and kicking my legs like a silly person in the silly people house, thinking a little too hard about Sherlock x Watson
YEAH!!! Sherlock x Watson let's goooooo😄🎉
Gnomeo my beloved how I have missed you ao!!!!
Fr I used to be SO obsessed with this movie as a kid and I had an unusually strong sttraction to Gnomeo, that gnome solidified my non-human crushes for years and years to come.
‘They’re in the begonias!’
‘Do I look like a begonia to you?’
‘No, more like a pansy’
I watched the first one and I still don’t know if my enjoyment is ironic or not.
I saw this movie before I even knew about the original play
i'm so sad i couldn't possibly be in this video. gnomeo and juliet is the world's greatest movie and it deserves no hate. it was built in heaven by all of the angels and it will always be the best movie ever.
Okay, but the Elton John soundtrack still slaps to this day 👌
Not gonna lie, Featherstone's backstory legitimately broke my heart and made me feel bad for him.
There’s these two girls in my biology class that are obsessed with Gnomeo and Juliet and I can’t help but question their personal well-being
“would you name your kid humaneo”
guy named adam:
that review at 7:54 about Sherlock Gnomes queerbaiting is so true, but despite that I love both of these movies so much
Are we not gonna talk about how one of the gnomes, I think the one that ends up with the frog is voiced by Wheatley's voice actor? Cause it was a big jumpscare for me
both of these films (and specifically Moriarty) feels like a Brandon Rogers sketch
these movies (esp gnomeo and juliet) were my childhood like damn i remember watching them all the time in the car cause we had one of those vans where we could put in a dvd and there was a screen. that is to say these movies are permanently embedded in my brain
I like how the entire basis for this movie franchise is shitty gnome puns based on classic literature. Literally insane.
these movies are the greatest pieces of art ever made
This one review made me so mad for no reason 😭 when they say "This is a job for Sherlock Gnomes" it's meant to be humourous, they don't actually know that Sherlock Gnomes exists. It's just a pun 😭
Surprised that no one mentioned Johnny Depp being the voice of Sherlock.
And also, how can Gnomeo and Juliet have parents?😦
I was curious about that too! Maybe they just adopt whatever new gnomes get added to the garden?
I imagine they came as a set, although I like the adoption theory as well. Like, when you buy a four pack of Calico Critters/Sylvania Family toys and there's a pair of adults, a baby and a child
@@ArtByKarenEHaley makes sense
0:15 Andrea and Andrés and Andrei be sweating here
when i watched Sherlock Gnomes i thought it was hilarious in that one scene where Moriarty goes “i Am ThE sUn AnD yOu ArE tHe MoOn”
and i still do
also pls do Knives Out or Glass Onion!
They're on my to-do list! :)
Probably the best birthday gift ever!
I havent watched this movie in forever and it has suddenly gained popularity again. I wanna be mad but I love this movie for reasons unknown
the amount of things we watched this at daycare…like omg it was always this movie-
I have seen Sherlock Gnomes 50 times. I had a Gnome party on my 50th watch 💀 love that movie
Pie Moriarty is Unironically the best version of Moriarty in ANY Sherlock Holmes Adaptation
However! The lil dude at the end of Sherlock Gnomes has such a wonderfully threatening and unhinged aura while still being cute and that will never not be funny to me
4:50 he did! He actually did at the end of *all* his plays💀
Omg why did I never notice gnomeo has a whole beard
0:16 All the people named Adam & Even would like to have a word with you.
I looked for this movie for a long time and eventually began thinking it was just a dream. About a year ago I finally found it once again. I wish it *was* a dream.
4:06 this comment makes me so fucking mad. shakespeare DID add a dance party montage to the end of his version. he added a dance party montage to the end of ALL his plays. at the end of every shakespeare play, all the actors do a choreographed jig. he INVENTED the ending dance party montage.
he is an icon and legend for many things, but specialy for that
I like the idea of sentient gnomes if only because there's a tree near my house that someone painted a small red door on where it starts to separate into roots at the base of the trunk and sometimes, there are gnomes outside it in different positions (my favorite is when they're playing checkers) and I'd like to believe that they really live there.
1.) I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
2.) I know that technically, opinons cannot be wrong, but I disagree with the people who said they didn't like it.
3.) The callout for the person who realized that "Sherlock Gnomes was a gnome and not a tiny human man" halfway through the second movie makes me laugh.
4.) MORIARTY IS FXXKING SCARY
The one with Sherlock gnomes holds a special place in my heart tbh
A gnome named gnomeo is the equivalent of someone name guy or lady
