So true - RV life is joy and excitement peppered with trials and tribulations. You gotta be handy; otherwise, you'll be handicapped. Great fix on that metal strap!
I'm glad the wet bolt, shackle, equalizer saga is over. What a pain, but kudos to Brinkley for standing strong behind their product. That was a good upgrade on the sewer support strap. Like they say, when something breaks, it's a great opportunity to make it better. I'm glad Jackie made it back from TX and the family unit is once again complete. Safe travels (from your recent neighbor at Autumn Woods)!
Thanks for watching and thank you for the help the day I left. Jackie was very grateful you pitched in to help me in her absence! I hope you guys don't have to stay there near the Mayo for too long. Stay in touch neighbor!
@@chasing70degrees23 It was my pleasure. I learned a few good things about our future Brinkley. There's nothing like insider knowledge! Our plans are still up in the air regarding when we'll be leaving. It seems the schedule at the Mayo can delay things by months. We may take off and return at a later date. I'll know more next week. I'll keep tabs via your channel as to where you folks are at. Perhaps we'll meet again down the pike; maybe at a Brinkley event! In the meantime, all the best to you, Jackie, and Miss Maggie!
I've seen many videos where the CRE 3000 actually broke next to the welds. I went with the Dexter EZ Flex. Built like a tank. As for the clamps....they come assembled and with the long screw to clamp it together Brinkley only supplies the self drilling screw.
I know the newer G's come with the all Dexter suspension now. Ours is a very early model VIN 065. I was just poking fun about the long screw. I did hate that they used a Phillips head screw, that was stripped out, along with a Nylock nut. Made it take longer than it should have hahahaha
Nice talking to you all and meeting you at GoodLife RV in Bevington IA! Wishing you safe travels and hope you stop by when in the area again and ask for Lesa! Would love to go motorcycling with you, too!
Great video! I love it when people point out the good and the less then good moments and what was done to fix them. Spray some fluid film on that strap so it doesn't rust or paint it with some POR-15 (unless it was aluminum/stainless, I couldn't tell). Nice fix though!
Do you know why they wore out, i found a couple bushing were completely gone, #3000 miles, the spring also rubs on shackle, i had some new bushing replace two of them, but the spring still rubs, by the time we get home i will have over 10,000 miles on trailer, tires seem still be running true, It is hard to get thing fix when traveling, 3400Z i do have a list of warranty things, not the build of the Brinkley, all the Lipper stuff if failing,
@@rickpatterson4495 I’m not informed enough to know why they wore out. We are at over 16k miles at this point though. Yeah the Lippert items seem to wear out and break the most
Dang, I'm sure glad you got the wet bolts, shackles, and equalizer repaired. Great job on fabricating a new hanger for your sewer pipe. I'm glad the family is back together. Safe travels!
@chasing70degrees23 Thank you! You're one of my favorite channels to watch, and I like all the useful information y'all provide. One of these days (in 2025 after I retire), you'll have to do a meet-up with your followers. I'd definitely like to meet you both in person. Take care and safe travels.
You're checking running gear on trailer before traveling is now on my travel day checklist. Great advise! Having some wrenching skills makes RV travel easier and frustrating at same time! I just changed my leaf springs, HD wet bolts and new leaf spring bronze bushing. New races, bearings and brakes too! I was really shocked how much wear & tear those parts had on them.
Thank you for watching! I am so glad you are checking those bolts now. I guess it's the pilot in me to always do a walk around and check out the craft. I do a quick walk around before we pull away too. Touch every compartment, latch, and door handle. Great for peace of mind! We kind of lucked out on the bearings and brakes. Dexter replaced all of ours and greased everything when were at about 10k miles. I guess we will have to do it the next round.
Just curious if you feel this suspension is underbuilt for this heavy rig and Brinkley although replaced everything doesnt solve the problem in the long run. We are looking for a new RV and they are all the hype and top of our list but makes you wonder if they also cut corners where a beefier suspension is needed for longevity.
Here’s what I know. Brinkley did extensive testing on this suspension setup, added Sumo springs standard and drug the prototypes around the worst road testing courses. I feel it was tested and they have data to prove it. I just can’t find it. I’ll ask Nate and see if he has a link. They don’t cut corners at Brinkley. They are continuously testing and updating the models as they are built. They recently switched away from the CRE3000 equalizers and setup and went with a full Dexter suspension. I’m guessing their research proved that the Dexter system was better. www.dexteraxle.com/Dexter-E-Z-Flex
Ahhhh the RV Life and its constant fixing of stuff! Like you we have a Brinkley, although it's a model Z, and we have had the same amazingly good experience with Brinkleys customer service. Nice fix on the sewer hose BTW!
