Hello I have a maxxforce dt466 and it just started making a high pitch squeal noise around 2k rpms. I had belts checked, turbo checked, transmission checked and all seems ok. What worries me is that they said my engine oil was low. My question is can this high pitch squeal be a sign that something was hurt in the motor or this seal kind of issue. I should add my truck has no def system
I am having the same problem with my truck the mechanic seems to think that the Egr cooler is blocked and is causing the exhaust air to go back to the intake and blowing out that seal do you think that could be the case?
The International Service Manager and I was brainstorming on this issue. And we never could come to a reason why this was happening. I have to say that the Engine had over 350,000 miles. Later after 65,000 miles. The Engine ended up with a bad engine blow-by. So I had the engine replaced with a new engine. Nothing was ever done to the Exhaust Filter or system. And that was at least 45,000 mile ago. The Vehicle is running great. I hope that helps.
Wow ok I just had this engine rebuilt right after that about 100 miles down the road it started doing this we cleaned the doc and def filter and it still does it ..then I came across your video and the mechanic still seems to think it’s the egr cooler but I’m going to go with the sensors and see what happens tomorrow….did you do a egr delete?
No I did not delete the system. But I would suggest to replace the Sensors related to the EGR. I believe that there are three of them around the engine. That's what I did. I can not think of the names right now. I will have to look back in the history on that vehicle.
When you replaced the egr sensors was it doing what it did in this video? Or did it throw a check engine light then you changed those sensors? Because I have no check engine light
@@TLON904 I never had a Engine light on. Looking back on the history. April - Exhaust Seal blew. Ordered a New Exhaust Seal. May- Seal blew again. I then ordered a new seal and Exhaust Pipe. May -Seal blew again. Removed the DPF and C.Convertor to have cleaned. I installed both knock Sensors and installed back clean DPF and C.convertor June- Exhaust Filter blew off again. July- I replaced the Seal and MapSensor,Intake Sensor and Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor. And that's when I Modified the Exhaust Pipe. Aug- No problems

It sounds like an Air Leak noice. Make sure that all of your Hoses and Fittings are tighten. Especially around the area you are hearing the noice.
