    Alison I love the idea you show us to add a stitch at the end if we haven’t got the right count. I wonder if you could do a video showing how it’s done a bit more in detail. That would be so helpful as I haven’t been able to work it out by myself 🥰💕🙏🧶xoxo

    Hello Alison,
    I thoroughly enjoy your videos. All my life I always desired to crochet but could never learn. My mother is the most amazing woman, she can do everything from building, to sewing, needlework, crochet, knitting, and on and on. As hard as I would try to learn, I just couldn't grasp it. I think it is the fact that I always sat beside her and maybe that's the reason? I found with your teaching, the camera angle is as if the yarn and hook are in my hands, very clear and close ups are great. Most of all you take the time to explain so precisely and your accent is amazing. I can listen to you all day, in fact even if I'm not following one of your projects, I just put one of your videos on just to hear you talk, like listening to the radio! I also have a dear friend who lives in Landark and you so much remind me of her. Thank you for all you do and take time out of your day, this especially helps with having to be home all the time! Thank you again and keep the projects coming.

My question for you is this> I do not want to run a ribbon through it because of washing. I fear the ribbon may look wrinkled. What should I do? Add 3 rows of sc around (US) and then put on some kind of picot around? Do you have any suggestions please. I love your tutorials. Thank you so much. Bonnie in the USA.

    Beautiful and versatile stitch pattern! Am thinking about trying it with a bigger hook to open it up for my warm climate. I've never used an addi hook. Have you ever used a Clover Amour hook? So far these are the most comfortable hooks I've found for my arthritic hands. Thank you for your great demonstration of adding chains with the starting tail! Thank you for another great video, Alison. It would be great if you could make a short video, please, just demonstrating how to add to your chain if you run out of stitches. I tried using the search function because I knew I’d seen it on a video, then I spent an hour checking the beginning of videos trying to find an example when you needed to increase. If you did a short video with a title like “how to add foundation stitches when you’ve counted incorrectly” or something similar, it might appear on a search. At the moment, I’m trying to commit this video to memory for the next time I need to do it !🤪

      oh, honey, I cheat at those my arthritis is too bad to tie them tight and i lost my bow maker too. I buy them off amazon in a multi big pack look for 5inch or 4inch handmade bows. They come with a crocodile hair clip so the people I donate my blankets to can take them off and uses them when their child is older

    Another beautiful blanket allison, can I just ask you on the border what do you do on the corners for the double row and the treble row? By the way love your accent , I had my DNA done and I'm quarter Scottish . But I dont have the accent which I wish I did.,your work is as always fantastic.

      the border is one row UK double crochet all around the blanket one row of UK treble crochet this stitch is wider for the ribbon and 1 row of UK double crochet to finish. You can add as many rows as you wish but this is what i did.

    Absolutely love this pattern and cant wait to give this a go! You mentioned you dont count the chains. But I am useless at knowing how many to do to make a good size blanket. Would you be able to advise on a number of chains to do to make the size of the blanket you made? Thanks x

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel

      Celia if you are in the UK its 1st row double crochet 2 in the 3 stitches around the corner. (USA single crochet) The 2nd row is UK treble crochet (USA double crochet) the 3rd row UK double crochet (USA Single crochet)

    This is so pretty! I love it! You do such a great job explaining. Thank you. Do you think this could be done with a UK Treble crochet instead of a double crochet to make it work up faster or would that wreck the look of the finished product?

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont think it will look right, it will look like a fan if you do trebles then loop through all of them, you could give it a try on a small sample and see. then let me know, Amanda.

    When you’re working the border along the sides , is it one uk double/us single per row? Or will I need to add a few more stitches along the sides?

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      one per row Sarah, if it looks to tight ad a few extra. Most of the time borders and edges need adjusted by the person doing the crochet as the tension might be different. Even on written patterns I have found i sometimes need to adjust it as my tension is quite slack and I need to reduce the stitches in borders.

      Ania, well done you keep going that's great. What I do Ania, is make the chain along a measuring tape to the width I like. That way it will be long enough for the size I want. Also If you google "crochet chart for average size blankets" you will find lots of charts with most blankets sizes in inches and in centimetres. you can write them down and keep it so you know what size most blanket are done. Any time you need help just ask. (PS I cheat with the bows on the blankets I buy those from amazon they have clips on and are 4inch hair bows)

    How many stitches would be a good size for a baby blanket?

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are three basic sizes for crochet blankets: afghan, lap blanket, and baby blanket. Traditionally, full-size, crochet afghan patterns measures about 50″ by 65″. The lap blanket is about 35″ by 40″. And the perennial favorite, the baby blanket, measures about 25″ by 30″.
