Very clear concise tutorial. Blankets that I will be making will make a perfect christening donation to my church. Easy enough that I can make it less than three days. Thank you.
If someone could answer this I'd appreciate it... Does it make a difference if you switch stitches...dbl then single??? Having a debate with daughter without attempting it lol...
The overall look may be slightly different but you are welcome to try! If you do that, you may want to increase your number of chains at the beginning of the row of accommodate the dc being the first stitch so instead of making a ch 1, you would make a ch 3 and then dc (note that some people prefer a ch 2 or a ch 4 if the first stitch is a dc). Hope this helps!
Why do so many people who do crochet tutorials start with the chain in the back loop of the chain. It looks so easy when they do it but even when I use a larger hook that is so hard for me. I have been crocheting for more than 20 years so not new but this is new to me.
Hi Teresa, it’s a good question. I always try to design my baby blankets to not have to work into the back ridge loop of the chain but then in some cases, like this blanket pattern, when I get to the border, there’s a large unwanted gap that in my opinion throws the whole thing off and creates large holes that I don’t like for baby blankets. I then try the design again with working into the back ridge loop of the chain and there isn’t a gap so the finish piece looks much better and has less holes. Whenever I can, I try to not work in the back ridge loop because I know it’s not the easiest thing to do. For example, my Simple Baby Blanket doesn’t work into the back loops but that works for that pattern. But for this one, I do recommend it. I also chain quite loosely which seems to help a lot with working into the back loop on Row 1. I hope this helps! Happy crocheting. 😀
I use the top (or, technically, back) loop rather than the bottom bump. It gives a similar look and it's a lot easier to put your hook through. I use that technique because my chains are always tighter than my foundation row, making it look wonky when I use both loops. Try a sample with both versions, see which you like better! 💕
Thank you so much Teresa! That was really nice of you to take the time to write such a lovely comment and I really appreciate it. I hope you enjoyed making it!

Hello This is Rita again I have a question, all the blankets you have is with the number 3 light weight yarn n I was wondering if you can do them with 4 medium weight yarn instead ? You have some beautiful blankets I love to make n buy the 6 bundle blankets but I like to do them in 4 weight yarn. Please let me know ASAP so I can purchase them, if I can do them in 4 worsted weight yarn? Thanks 😊 For being so patient with me n I appreciate all u are doing Rita
Hi Rita, for the patterns where I recommend using size 3 yarn, they were designed and tested using size 3 yarn. You are of course welcome to try different yarn weights but the overall look, feel and size of the blanket may be different. For example, if you use worsted weight (size 4) yarn, your blanket may be heavier, stiffer and the stitches may be tighter. You would also need more yarn to complete the pattern and it would be a larger size. If you are looking for baby blanket patterns using Size 4 (Medium) yarn, you may like these (they all have video tutorials): -> jototheworld.com/moss-stitch-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern -> jototheworld.com/classic-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern -> jototheworld.com/continuous-granny-square-blanket-crochet-pattern
Hi there! All my patterns are designed and tested with the yarn weight and hook that is listed in the pattern. You are welcome to try something else but the size, overall look and feel of your finished item as well as the amount of yarn required may be different. Here is my guide to yarn weights & types that you might find helpful: jototheworld.com/yarn-weights-and-types-chart
I love this pattern! However, I’m running short on time to complete it (my cousin’s baby is due any day now). Is the border necessary or can I just do the sc and still have it to come out looking nice?
Thank you very much! I personally think the blanket looks great on it’s own. You can either leave it without a border or add rounds of sc. Or complete the entire border. Totally up to you and what you think looks nice!
hi Jo, I'm not very clear about the last (4th) corner ....so repeat 3 times in the last 2nd stitch and twice in the last stitch, and after these, assemble. Am I correct ? ?
Hi there! The written pattern has a detailed explanation of the 4th corner: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know! Thanks!
Hello! You start the blanket by making 130 starting chains. You don’t need to make any extra chains than that. For the first row, you will start in the second chain from the hook and single crochet and single crochet in each stitch cross. That leaves you with 129 single crochet stitches at the end of the first row. You shouldn’t have any chains left over. Then ch 1 and turn. But the chains do not count as stitches and never get worked into. For the second row, you’ll work into the first stitch and make a single crochet and double crochet in the same stitch. Then skip the next stitch. You will repeat this all the way across until there is one stitch left. In the last stitch, she will make one single crochet stitch. You will have 129 stitches. Then ch 1 and turn. Hope this helps!
Working into the back ridge loops/back bumps prevents a large hole/gap between the first row and the border. The only difference between working into the top loop of the chain and the back ridge loop is where to insert your hook. I highly recommend trying to work in the back loop/bump as I find the blanket looks so much nicer without a large gap between the body and the body. Here’s an article you might find helpful: jototheworld.com/how-to-crochet-in-the-chain

Hello! I'm new to crocheting and was wondering if this pattern would still work with size 2 sport yarn? I know they're different but I'm trying to find merino wool yarn that I can order online (I'm housebound) and there's one option I found, but it's 2 sport. Thank you so much for your help! And this wonderful video!
Hi there! I wish I could tell you if it would work but I haven’t tested this pattern with size 2 sport yarn. You of course are welcome to try and perhaps use a smaller size hook but the overall size of the blanket and look may be different. Sorry I can’t be more helpful but I hope you are able to still make the blanket!
@@jototheworldcreations I really appreciate you taking the time to respond! Thank you for giving me the heads up on the smaller hook size and how the final outcome could be different in size! Still helpful!
Maybe I just got used to the Classic Baby Blanket I recently finished but wow does this 5mm hook go slowly! I love the fabric this pattern makes though, so it’s definitely going to be completed but it just never seems to grow. Anyone else? UPDATE: only took 10 days to finish the body of the blanket (with tennis elbow). Not bad. Nervous to do border but it looks so cool.
Sorry but I have one more question n I am getting ready to order them? The one with $49.00 for the whole year. My question is do all the patterns ha a TH-cam video with it? Need to know ASAP If u can Thanks again 😊
I just looked it up and I believe that’s a size 3 yarn? You can use any size 3 yarn that’s 100% acrylic. I haven’t made this blanket with that particular yarn but I did use the same brand (Bernat) so I think it will look great! I’d love to know how you make out. Happy crocheting!
Thanks for your question! Here is the written pattern which explains what to include and exclude when counting stitches for the border: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern
Whenever you’d like! I’d recommend adding a new color at the end of a row and being consistent so change colors after the same amount of rows each time. Hope you enjoy making this blanket!
This pattern was designed and tested with the yarn size/type and hook that is listed in the pattern. You are welcome to try something else but the size, overall look/feel of your finished item and the amount of yarn required may be different.
Thanks for your interest in this pattern! I have designed and tested this blanket using Size 3 (Light) yarn. Using a different yarn weight can sometimes significantly change the size, look and feel of the design as well as the amount of yarn required. You may find that using Size 4 (Medium) yarn creates a blanket that is heavier, thicker and more dense. And it may change the size, look and feel of the design as well as the amount of yarn required. I personally prefer a lightweight yet still cozy, airy blanket that flows nicely for a baby blanket. With all that said, you are welcome to try it! Perhaps you are looking to make a thicker blanket for a stroller or carseat and in that case, using a size 4 yarn makes complete sense. I unfortunately can't provide recommendations for what hook size to use or how much yarn you'll need as this blanket was designed and tested using Size 3 (Light) yarn. If you are looking for baby blanket patterns using Size 4 (Medium) yarn, you may like these: jototheworld.com/moss-stitch-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern jototheworld.com/classic-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern jototheworld.com/continuous-granny-square-blanket-crochet-pattern Hope this helps! Approx 1500m. I used one and a quarter skein of the economical big ball size of Bernat Baby Sport in Baby Blue (100% Acrylic, 12.3 oz / 350g, 1500 meters/1370 yards). This is a light (3) yarn. You can substitute with your favorite light (3) yarn. Light weight yarn is also referred to as DK or Light Worsted.

Hi there! The written pattern has a detailed explanation of the 4th corner: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know! Thanks!
Hello, if you use 130 chains make sure to chain 1 before starting... this will leave you with 2 ending chains.
Thank you for such simple instructions. I'm finding that my border is curling, not laying flat. What can I do.
Thank you! The written instructions describes what to do (in the border section): jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern
Do you have to begin the blanket in the back bumps? I struggle with that so much!
Thank you!
what is the name of the stitch used for this blanket? aslo very easy to follow and very clear too, love it.
Hi there! It's called the Suzette stitch. I'm so glad you like it!
Hi Ms jo to the world creation, just wondering if you have any baby spring blanket tutorial ?
Hi! You can view all my baby blanket videos here: Crochet Baby Blanket Patterns

@@jototheworldcreations thank you very much for early response. Do I need to use cotton to crochet the spring blanket for baby.? I am a new crocheter and I love the way you give instructions. Thank you
@@josiecontreras326 I’ve only made each blanket with the yarn that’s referenced in the pattern. Please click on the description below the video for the link to the written instructions with all the details. Thank you.
Could you please tell us how can we make ice cap and booties for a baby same the stitch of the blanket
Hi there! You can take a look at this Baby Booties pattern with video tutorial: jototheworld.com/baby-booties-crochet-pattern and this Adorable Hat pattern: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-hat-crochet-pattern. Hope these help!
I think i will use stitch markers for the cornerd
Sounds good!
Your finished blanket (I saw on IG) looks so incredible!!! All your work on it definitely paid off!
@@jototheworldcreations Thanks! I love the fabric the 5mm made. Definitely doing again.
Sorry but I have one more question n I am getting ready to order them? The one with $49.00 for the whole year. My question is do all the patterns ha a TH-cam video with it?
Need to know ASAP
If u can
Thanks again 😊
Hi Rita, you can see all the patterns I have video tutorials for here: m.youtube.com/@jototheworldcreations/videos
Es el punto Suzette 😊
Thanks!
Will this look good using Bernat Softee Ombré yarn?
I just looked it up and I believe that’s a size 3 yarn? You can use any size 3 yarn that’s 100% acrylic. I haven’t made this blanket with that particular yarn but I did use the same brand (Bernat) so I think it will look great! I’d love to know how you make out. Happy crocheting!
may I confirm the even number of single crochet includes or excludes the last stitch of 3 single crochets ?
Thanks for your question! Here is the written pattern which explains what to include and exclude when counting stitches for the border: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern
What stitch is this. I'm making this now for my nephew first child that is due soon
That’s wonderful! It’s just a simple repeat of: *Sc into the next st. Dc into the same st. Sk the next st*
How many skeins should I use?
Hello! All the details including the amount of yarn required can be found here: jototheworld.com/adorable-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern
Would like to introduce other color at what point should I do that
Whenever you’d like! I’d recommend adding a new color at the end of a row and being consistent so change colors after the same amount of rows each time. Hope you enjoy making this blanket!

Thank you so so much
Can this be made in worsted weight yarn?
This pattern was designed and tested with the yarn size/type and hook that is listed in the pattern. You are welcome to try something else but the size, overall look/feel of your finished item and the amount of yarn required may be different.
Can you use size 4 yarn?

What is this stitch called
It's known to many as the Suzette Stitch
How much yarn did you use?
Approx 1500m. I used one and a quarter skein of the economical big ball size of Bernat Baby Sport in Baby Blue (100% Acrylic, 12.3 oz / 350g, 1500 meters/1370 yards). This is a light (3) yarn. You can substitute with your favorite light (3) yarn. Light weight yarn is also referred to as DK or Light Worsted.

Hi, what size hook do I use for this blanket? I have a 4 sirdar ply wool Thanks in advance.
