Matt, dont give the tobacco tin away. Keep it, the lone star can, the tile and anything else you dig up. Find someone who can preserve and mount them for you. Then display them somewhere like the gift shop, restaurant or booking in office, as pieces of thr ranches history. Just like bunker branding has stuff that youve shot in demo ranch videos.
As someone who is likely to sign up for a subscription this month (hopefully some good DoorDash days let me) keep those cans, clean'em up and display them at Bunker until the Desperado opens then there.
I remember in the early 50s watching my grandfather hand roll his cigarettes using Prince Albert tobacco from the can. Then he would strike a kitchen match on the back of his leg in his bib overalls to light it. I always liked the smell of the first puff on his cigarette. It was several years later that I figured out it was the smell of the match igniting that I liked and not the smell of the tobacco. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me. My grandfather died when I was 7 in 1956.
Prince Albert in a can... As a kid, not a boomer, use to crank call the local 711 and ask, "do you have prince Albert in a can?" (in deepest prepubcent voice). The harnesses you’re wearing are only gonna hurt you if a collapse happens. There’s 2 types of fall protection, fall arrest, and fall restraint. You are wearing a fall restraint setup. Which means you need no slack in your rope at all times because if you do fall you are going to get whipped to all hell when the rope reaches tension. If you wanna have slack you need a fall arrest setup with a buffer commonly known as a “shock pack”. An improperly used harness can break bones, cut of circulation, or even strangle the user. Not something to take lightly.

My family pulled a big tin of that Prince Alberts Tobacco out of my great grandfathers garage a couple of years ago, still in relatively good shape. Always cool seeing classic brands resurface.

As soon as he said 'Prince Albert', I thought, "You better let him out!" The metal tobacco can will last awhile even underground, all those fabric 'Bull Durham' tobacco pouches farmers and ranchers went through are long gone.
7:52 they back filled the hole. Grandpa did too, everyone did it. There's a big sink hole that's been steadily filling up with rock for at least 80 years now north of our family lands. Everyone's dumping filling material there. Concrete, rocks, dirt. Since it's private lands, we've keeping it clean. Everyone can fill it up, but not with trash.
you should construct a roof over the hole to deflect the rain to collect for use in a pressure washer. and have a beam with a winch to crane your buckets to save on an escavator.
Dude, dig through all the tunnels and caves and connect them. That will give you storm shelter space, extra storage space and some areas for other fun stuff.
Bro you should set up a time lapse cam, just leave it runnin forever! See what critters come out,see the day night cycle inside the cave, and of course the depth progress. Time lapse is awesome.
It's because they only LOOK like adults but have the mindset of 12-year-olds. I think it's wonderful. They'll have great adventures to remember when they're 70.
Should look into hydro excavation would be less back breaking work if you can get a large vac truck or some kinda pump and some real strong pressure washers to cut through the mud and dirt and clean all the other surfaces around the cave so far and make it look a lot cooler in there
Back in the day, a prank phone call would consist of a kid calling the local general store and asking them if they had Prince Albert in a can, followed by the clerk responding "yes", and the caller then saying, "you had better let him out!" Also, people would save those tins to store things in long past the tobacco. Last thing, people collected tins like that as they were cool so who knows really how long that tin has been buried but it's still pretty freaking cool.
Ahhh yess been waiting for the next cave video!!! Could watch these all day ngl. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d be down to just watch a whole days worth of a Timelapse compacted into an hour or two video🤷🏼♂️
When I was a kid, we used to call the grocery store and ask if they had Prince Albert and a can and if they said yes, we would tell them they needed to let him out 😂
I think the best way to continue to go deeper in the cave is to have guide ropes with Prusik knots tied to the guide rope. Basically a Prusik knot is a friction hitch or knot used to attach a loop of cord around a rope, applied in climbing, canyoneering, mountaineering, caving, rope rescue, ziplining, and by arborists.
We have a similar attachment we got for our drill that’s technically for mixing cement but we also used it as a mini tiller for our garden lol worked great both for a small spot in our garden that needed tilling as well as mixing the bucket of cement we needed for a patch up in our garage. Those attachments are really handy.
You know with all that dirt that came out of the cave, you could have gold panning at the resort, find an old timer to show the kids how to do it and set up some water troughs and occasionally put some of the cave dirt in them, you may have to supplement with a little bought gold and mix in with it but it would fun for all.
He talked about maybe getting a Hydrovac a few cave videos ago but Hasn't. I'm wondering if maybe it's too expensive to justify or there are too many bigger pebbles/rocks mixed in with the soil and it would jam things up but idk much about Hydrovac systems and their limits. Edit: Just doing a quick and dirty google search, it looks like a Hydrovac truck rental runs about the same hourly cost as renting an excavator like they are currently.
God, Family (tuff choice), Country. . . a bunch of other stuff. . . His peace of mind (at least a little more peace), Mere and the kids. . . Well worth my attention and admiration amongst the channels. I miss them too!
Get a large pump and a lot of 2-inch fire hoses run it from the river and wash out the hole. If there are still cracks in the structure, it should wash out the dirt going further down.
A vac truck and a pressure washer would help reveal everything in the first chamber before you get too deep to adequately stop the water dirt slurry. Right now a chunk of rubber matting would work as a collector.
Wow, that was a cool find. That is a Texas cave scorpion. Yes that’s its actual name. Their primary diet is cave crickets. They’re really cool. They’ll actually glow under a black light like a bluish purple. They are poisonous but so long as you are gentle, you can actually pick them up. Norman

Prince Albert tobacco in a tin was first introduced in 1907.
You ought to build a A frame like structure with a winch attached over the hole so you don't have to tie up a excavator.
Or build, buy some kind of hitched small crane, hitch they are only lifting barrels.
And help prevent rain water from getting in.
You have to be able to rotate the barrel away from the opening to dump it and then you still need equipment to move it further away.

Who knew some of my favorite content of 2024 would be watching a group of grown adults dig out a giant hole for fun.... craziest timeline 🤣
It's because they only LOOK like adults but have the mindset of 12-year-olds.
I think it's wonderful. They'll have great adventures to remember when they're 70.
FINALLY ANOTHER VIDEO. KEEP EMCOMING LOVE THE LONGER VIDEOS
"Diggy Diggy hole...." somebody PLEASE make a video of Mikey digging to that song!
Aaa.. another conesour of good music. Regards.
Which version though, the original or the cover that made it popular?
@@knight838_ Oh for sure the techno cover... With those big @ss sunglasses he wears? Are you kidding? It's gotta be the techno version!
@@knight838_ I only know the WIND ROSE version.
@@VoidRedaction that is a cover. The original is sung by a guy named Simon. It's a song from Minecraft.
Should look into hydro excavation would be less back breaking work if you can get a large vac truck or some kinda pump and some real strong pressure washers to cut through the mud and dirt and clean all the other surfaces around the cave so far and make it look a lot cooler in there
This a such a nice way to relax after a long days work
I love the cave videos from your place Matt wonderful experience for us keep them coming
Years ago came for pew pew stuff loving the cave stuff ❤❤❤
Back in the day, a prank phone call would consist of a kid calling the local general store and asking them if they had Prince Albert in a can, followed by the clerk responding "yes", and the caller then saying, "you had better let him out!" Also, people would save those tins to store things in long past the tobacco. Last thing, people collected tins like that as they were cool so who knows really how long that tin has been buried but it's still pretty freaking cool.
haha that is pretty funny :)
Ahhh yess been waiting for the next cave video!!! Could watch these all day ngl. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I’d be down to just watch a whole days worth of a Timelapse compacted into an hour or two video🤷🏼♂️
From beginning to end. Looking forward to the next dig.
When I was a kid, we used to call the grocery store and ask if they had Prince Albert and a can and if they said yes, we would tell them they needed to let him out 😂
You guys should sandbag around the opening to keep rain water out and a large tent
The progress is amazing. And there could be a balrog down there or smaug, or goblins.
I NEED more of these videos
19:21 was the best joke of the video and it got completely ignored by everyone.
I turn 13 yesterday and I've been watching your channel since I was 7 years old
Awesome to see the next generation following good people! 22 now started watching at like 14/15
I started when I was 19-20. I’m 24 now.
Happy belated birthday!

The red can is tabacoo. It’s Prince Albert brand. I have a fresh one I found 400 ft down a mine shaft. Great find!!
You have a Prince Albert in your hole? That's not something I ever thought I'd hear! Congratulations, glad you're relaxed about your new role!
😂😂
You need to bring the firetruck over there and drop the hose down there. Wash out the lose dirt like the rain did ;-)
Hydrovac is what you mean bro.
He talked about maybe getting a Hydrovac a few cave videos ago but Hasn't. I'm wondering if maybe it's too expensive to justify or there are too many bigger pebbles/rocks mixed in with the soil and it would jam things up but idk much about Hydrovac systems and their limits.
Edit:
Just doing a quick and dirty google search, it looks like a Hydrovac truck rental runs about the same hourly cost as renting an excavator like they are currently.
there's a river nearby... all they need is a high-pressure pump... but it may destroy any findings... nobody knows what's down there...
They don't want more mud
The EPA would lose their minds! Washing silt into groundwater would probably come with jail time and a massive fine.
It's actually sad not seeing your family anymore. It feels like something missing out of every video now :(
Cope with it.
Family comes first. He made the right choice.
God, Family (tuff choice), Country. . . a bunch of other stuff. . . His peace of mind (at least a little more peace), Mere and the kids. . . Well worth my attention and admiration amongst the channels.
I miss them too!
@@johngross8300 Okay I'm rejoining after a very long break. What happened with Mere and the kids? Or are they just not being featured anymore?
Get a large pump and a lot of 2-inch fire hoses run it from the river and wash out the hole. If there are still cracks in the structure, it should wash out the dirt going further down.
I will help run that system...used to do it all the time to calibrate flow meters at a manufacturing facility
There might be some cool relics farther on, looking forward to see what they find
Hey Matt, I remember watching you when I was a kid. And you will always entertain me as I grow up.
Ring Ring "Is your refridgerator running ? Why, yes, yes it is. Well you better run and catch it" lol
I came here to say that! Oh for the good old days! 😂
Loving the cave content
A vac truck and a pressure washer would help reveal everything in the first chamber before you get too deep to adequately stop the water dirt slurry. Right now a chunk of rubber matting would work as a collector.
Wow, that was a cool find. That is a Texas cave scorpion. Yes that’s its actual name. Their primary diet is cave crickets. They’re really cool. They’ll actually glow under a black light like a bluish purple. They are poisonous but so long as you are gentle, you can actually pick them up. Norman
