I used to play casual sf back in fei long days and wanted to go hardcore on this but I cant even touch the game because I'm getting Fatal D3D Error as soon as I launch
The way modern fighting games lock out characters behind a pay wall completely sours me from buying the game. $40 for 4 character for an $80 game? Screw that. Capcom is one of the worst offenders of this.
Definitely. I love classic SF, but I refuse to pay that kind of money for this. Total rip off. For this kind of money, and the available computing power fir such a simplistic game, this should come with every single previous SF character ever, right out of the gate. As is, I'll wait for whatever "ultimate" version comes out for $20 a year or 2 from now.
@@LastBastian Exactly. That said I wouldn't mind paying for a brand new never before seen character or an actual special guest character from another IP, but having to pay money for a classic character that's been playable for literally decades is absolute rubbish. I believe it was Street fighter 4 but they had two characters on the FREAKING GAME DISC! That were pay walled and time locked. So the characters were already coded on to the disc but you couldn't access them until the "DLC" for the characters went live then you had to pay to use them. Some players hacked the game and were playing the characters online like 3 months before the "DLC" was released. Since then i pretty much avoid Capcom titles. I was considering SF6 but as soon as I saw Akuma was locked behind a pay wall Capcom lost my money.
I am a RPG nerd and I never thought that one day I would be playing fighting games. Now I am addicted since the betas and now I also tried the other titles and I am having a lot of fun. I bought the SFV, MK11, SF6, Blazeblue, Injustice 2 (injustice is so cool), and in a few hours I am going to play the SF6❤❤❤
I was never much of a fighting game person besides mortal kombat and injustice but i was super excited for this. It plays really well and i love the variety of gameplay. Its super engaging for newbies and just like you said, it was the first one that wasn’t intimidating to get into
Gameranx shouting out Max?? Hell yeah dood! He gives great insight and healthy opinions. Plus he’s hilarious and is very passionate about street fighter. I definitely recommend him if you want a down to earth fighting game content creator’s opinion. EDIT: I have been trying to get into SF for years but I got into the scene late with SFV being the only game I’ve tried my hardest to practice but could never get it. This will be my first SF experience from release and onward and I really hope I can grow into a player of skill like the rest of the people I watch. I want to stream this and really build something from it.
Alot of respect for admitting that you are just casual fighting game fans and to check out real fighting game players videos for a deeper dive. Alot of game reviewers aren't confident enough to admit that and get flamed when they do something dumb and wrong. For a game like SF6 it matters alot because you really cant pick up and play without prior experience in fighting games, its just the way the genre is.
You can set the battles to be 60FPS in world tour mode but it requires you to change the setting in the options. It's really weird they don't have it at 60 by default here, but I guess it helps with lower end PC's and maybe the PS4 version.
I had an accident a few years ago where 1 injury was I lost my right index finger ! It sucks trying to play games and fighting games most of all . Sucks big time .
No need to apologize for being a casual fan in fact we need more reviews by casual players, especially with this game which is trying its hardest to appeal to a mainstream audience. Casual players are extremely important for the growth and sustainability of the genre and capcom learned that the hard way with V. Great review.
Have never played a SF game tbh. Only dabbled with games like this. Played some MK10 for about 30 hrs, have a good amount of time on Smash. But this games style and direction appealed to me. And ofc Cammy :)
Great review from a casual perspective! This is def gonna be a main staple game for the community and everyone has pretty much collectively seen this game as amazing! Im excited to see where the competitive scene goes and that they add as time progresses
This was straight up THE BEST video I could’ve seen. I’m on/off buying this one & to hear someone that has similar skills as me have fun with this. I’m considering buying now. Also the city streets / gameplay literally reminded me of Yakuza 🔥🙌🏽
Hey thanks Gameranx for making a video about Street Fighter 6. It's unfortunate that some of your collogues can't be bothered to review a fighting game. In the year when we are getting so many of the major ones it's a shame. The fighting game community is small but dedicated and can always reviews especially from major outlets such as channel. So thank you !
Mad respect for the honesty of not being a fighting game player. Max is definitely the person people should watch if they want thoughts on the more competitive online side of things.
The fact that the hits feel so heavy and the extremely effective visual cues for hits and blocks make this an instant masterpiece and so engaging. That I think is what makes it easier to get back into the game knowing exactly where we messed up. This game is just good.
Whenever there’s a game I wanna see is good I go to yall and appreciate y’all being honest and recommending other channels for the more fighter game info stuff since I’m a noob at em myself and enjoy y’all’s work giving us ur opinions of games
As an absolute noob to fighting games it warms my heart to see a lot of the hardcore fanbase to be very inviting and welcoming to the newbies like myself.
I was originally planning to wait for just MK1 this year but now I’m thinking it may be worth it to play some SF6. I’m lucky to have a good budget and am able to get both fighting games and I don’t think I will mind playing both Sf and MK for the next year
If you have plenty of budget, I think there is almost nothing barring you to purchase SF6. It prooved to be more than just 'a decent one' during the beta phase already, and the final release version is delivered just as promised.
You guys being causal fighting game players is the exact reason why this review is the one I most needed to confirm that I wouldn't regret buying this, because that's exactly the same background in fighting games that I came from. I have played most fighting games at one point or another, but I can't even pretend to understand them on much more than a surface level, but I do enjoy playing them in short bursts every now and then. But the way the story in SF6 is set up makes me think this will likely be my favorite fighting game ever, because THAT'S the kind of experience I've always wanted from this genre, and I think the closest we've ever gotten to this is Mortal Kombat Deception.
Bought the Ultimate Edition and I've got to say this is the first Street Fighter in a while that I'm absolutely hyped for this! Presentation is super dope especially compared to SF4 and SF5 more safe/bland presentation.
I ruled at SF2 (the OG). We had an SF2 cabinet at work, and I played SO MANY matches. Haven't played a single one since, but this looks really good, actually.
The fighting game that really got me enjoying the genre was Injustice. Story was great and the fighting is acessible compared to other franchise. SF6 might be the fighting game ill sink countless hrs into.
@@andrewhammond8852 story and the fighting is more easy to get to. Ive wanted to play MK after enjoying Injustice. Mk 9 was stiff to control. MK 10 fighting was improvement with lessons learned from Injustice, but story was bland compared to Injustice series.
@@daganbanks still holds up today imho. Injustice 1's Story was the biggest motivator in the campaign, if the story doesnt click to you then you might find it hard to push trough. Its also short (around 5 or so hrs) and can be finnished in one sitting. Injustice 2 was big improvement from 1, gameplay wise and story wise and graphics wise, imho.
Just a random list of TH-cam Street Fighter content creators/channels I'd personally recommend: * James Chen (he has some REALLY good tutorials on his channel for SF6) * Smug - One of the best FGC personalities out there, and he's a really good player. * FGC Translated - features high-level Japanese Street Fighter 6 players, one of which is the G.O.A.T. Daigo Umerhara!! * Rooflemonger - Good channel, covers fighting games across the board *Tasty Steve - FGC commentator, pretty knowledgeable with the current SF6 build. * Brian F. - very informative with Street Fighter tech, pretty good player. * Maximilian Dood - pretty much what Jake said.
They really work hard at trying to conserve that arcade nostalgia whilst using modern day technology. This is the best balance by far . The characters feel like the ones we are used to but are detailed and edgy . SF has always been bright with contrasting colors lovely to see that ! Game plays well too its inviting to a casuals but still caters to the expert’s demos nice but the price is still a bit steep .
OG Street Fighter fan but life has left me only time to be a casual player now. Appreciate you bringing up the control scheme and the fact someone who isn't a true fight gamer can still enjoy. As long as I can drop some Hadoukens and throw them Dhalsim hands, im good.
I loved SF4, i loved what SF5 ended up becoming, but the prerelease hype for this one has been grand. I've avoided the demo abd betas, im ready to get home and PLAYYY
I've been playing Street Fighter since the very first game (yep, I'm old AF) I'm so glad SF6 is getting such high praise from experienced players to brand new ones alike. I cannot wait to get my hands on it. After the God-awful launch of SF5, this feature-rich entry has me so hyped!
Started playing SF II on SNES in 93 and only skipped SF V because I'm an Xbox man. So I'm a little rusty but super excited about this upcoming release, I can't believe I'm about to blow $100+ on the Ultimate version ⚠️⚠️ But should be totally worth it. TEKKEN 7, your time is now officially ⬆️

Wow...I have been a subscriber to this channel for a very long time. I come here for the excellent reviews and gameplay footage for all the newest games. Your staff is real, down to Earth, and is one of the most professional journalist teams I have seen on TH-cam. I am completely humbled by the honesty you have shown in this video. "We are very much casual players in the fighting game genre. If you would prefer the perspective of a more serious player check this channel out..." (paraphrased) That Jake, is called journalistic integrity and you guys have it in spades. Thank you for being awesome! Wait a minute...your character is carrying a gun! Can I start busting caps at those box head guys? I'm assuming they're the bad guys in this. I started playing Street Fighter 2 in 1992 in the arcades and Snes. I became such a huge fan that for a good solid year all I wanted to do is play Street Fighter. I stopped playing after SF4 in 2010'ish. I did the tournament thing for years and was a decent player. I ranked number 2 in regionals on two separate occasions. I am now a casual player because my hands just can't keep up anymore. I might get this I don't know. I wonder if cross-play is enabled? If it is I will buy it for our Series X (the controllers are amazing). If not then probably the PS5.
I watched this video to learn about the monetization and there was zero mention of that. I want to know if Capcom is going to lock things in a shop and then charge me for premium currency while requiring hours upon hours of grinding to earn the in-game equivalent. Because that is how games with a premium currency typically work.
I've been playing SF for years. And always been pretty good at it. I started in the arcades from back in the days. I'm from NY so there was an arcade some in the comments may know called CF (Chinatown Fair), that i frequented, so needless to say ur game kinda had to be solid to even stand a chance. Lol. My FAV SF of all time tho is Third Strike...and I'll say I haven't been this excited for a SF since then. In terms of new characters I can't wait to try out Marisa. I got the chance to participate in both betas so I tried I Kimberly exclusively on the closed beta and Ken during the open beta. And both were a ton of fun to use. I just can't wait for the full release to drop so I could really dive deep with this game. 👊🏾💢🎮
My first fighting game experience was SFV because I thought it looked really cool, but I struggled to even throw a fireball. Tried KoF as well and had similar struggles with learning combos, so I figured fighting games weren't for me. But the different control styles sound like game changers! I am definitely going to give fighting games another shot thanks to SF6
I wasted so many quarters in SF2 Turbo machine at the deli across the street from my elementary school. It was the modded machine too where E. Honda would fire sonic booms when you did the hundred hand slap. Good times. The new game looks great! The adventure mode looks a bit like Shenmue
Only spent 2 hours in World Tour?? Jeebus. That's gonna be the whole game to me lol. For anyone else looking forward to WT, check out Sphere Hunter's review - she spent 50 hours on it tearing it apart, and the results are great!
I haven't played Street Fighter since I played Street Fighter II as a kid on the SNES. I'm 33 now. So it's been a while for me and this franchise. But 6 looks good!
I’m not usually into fighting games at all, but I might pick this up once it starts to go on sale. It’s seems like there’s quite a bit of variety and accessibility for newcomers.
Street fighter and virtua fighter were one of my favorites. Me and m brothers used to play it. My twin brother plays Ken I play Ryu, and more often lose, but its a fun game ❤ Thanks for the video
I played about 100 hours in SF4. I couldn't do the technical combos into supers. I really enjoying the modern controls during the demo and bought SF6. The more relaxed control scheme makes it much more enjoyable.
@@NoMoreLies365 I’m saying these controls invite more casual players and allow them to actually have a fighting chance instead of being hit 300 times without being able to retaliate against the damn sweaty players.
SF is my favorite fighting game franchise of all time. SF6 is easily the best game since SFIV. I enjoyed SFV once they added more content. Capcom learned their lessons and included variety on day one with SF6. Currently having a blast with World Tour mode.

Ultimate Edition here
Enjoy the game man 😂
I love your humble perspective to this review. A lot of reviews feel like they have to be perceived at good at every game even if they are not.
“I got my pizza then beat the shit out of the pizza guy. This is a great game”. You’re damn right Jake.
Honesty, if you’re on the fence about buying this game, just get it. It’s the best in the series and one of the best fighting games I’ve played.
It has a demo so you can just try it out ;)
Man, crazy how this game is running using RE Engine (same engine as the new Resident Evil games).
Heard!
@@ElShotte Capcom has really utilized that engine well. Glad it worked out for them.
Now I just think of how Konami wasted the FOX Engine.
@@ElShotte Capcom made both games so why be shock? Lol
I was never much of a fighting game person besides mortal kombat and injustice but i was super excited for this. It plays really well and i love the variety of gameplay. Its super engaging for newbies and just like you said, it was the first one that wasn’t intimidating to get into
Bought it. Releasing in 4 hour for me :) Can't wait to pour my soul into this game. I already have 20 hours in the demo only haha
How is it releasing in 4 hours for you? You doing the New Zealand time trick?
29 hours in the demo for me mate and 36 for the beta 😂 let’s have some fun bro!!
jesus i have 72 hours in the demo
@@AntTooStonednah it's been available via new Zealand trick for like 6 hours
@@iamsancho443 good shit man I’d be the same if I took off for beta weekend man I hate being an adult 😂😭
The starting roster has Lilly, Gief, Blanka, Honda alone as my mains, and plenty of new characters to try and learn. So exciting!
Most likely the case but it was probably just for the people who have low end PC's and try to run it
I had an accident a few years ago where 1 injury was I lost my right index finger ! It sucks trying to play games and fighting games most of all . Sucks big time .
Brother you can get an adaptive controller to play
SF6 is the most hyped I've been for Street Fighter in decades!
Me too they bout to release Mary j Blige trailer she will be the most powerful person on here
No need to apologize for being a casual fan in fact we need more reviews by casual players, especially with this game which is trying its hardest to appeal to a mainstream audience. Casual players are extremely important for the growth and sustainability of the genre and capcom learned that the hard way with V.
Great review.
7:13 from this line and this line alone I will be getting the game. Really all I needed to know Thx
You forgot to mention that you can play many Capcom arcade classic games in the game center as well: Final Fight, SF2, etc… so cool!
This was straight up THE BEST video I could’ve seen. I’m on/off buying this one & to hear someone that has similar skills as me have fun with this. I’m considering buying now. Also the city streets / gameplay literally reminded me of Yakuza 🔥🙌🏽
Speaking of Yakuza, you think we can get a Kazuma Kiryu DLC 😎
As a long time Street Fighter player, since SF 2, it's been crazy, to see how this series evolves; & somehow manages to evolve, with each entry
Lol. Max hasn’t been competitive in years.
You’re my go to for reviews
The fact that the hits feel so heavy and the extremely effective visual cues for hits and blocks make this an instant masterpiece and so engaging. That I think is what makes it easier to get back into the game knowing exactly where we messed up. This game is just good.
I haven’t played street fighter since the 90s when I was in single digits of age but I’m very intrigued by this entry for some reason
Whenever there’s a game I wanna see is good I go to yall and appreciate y’all being honest and recommending other channels for the more fighter game info stuff since I’m a noob at em myself and enjoy y’all’s work giving us ur opinions of games
Yuri and Cammy they are my favorite characters.....for reasons....
Same here and don’t forget a new Tekken game is likely to release before the end of the year as well. Great time to be a fighting fan !
Same bro 👍
Same here I haven’t played steer fighter for a long time this got me hype
I ruled at SF2 (the OG). We had an SF2 cabinet at work, and I played SO MANY matches. Haven't played a single one since, but this looks really good, actually.
The fighting game that really got me enjoying the genre was Injustice. Story was great and the fighting is acessible compared to other franchise. SF6 might be the fighting game ill sink countless hrs into.
What made you find injustice much better than the mk series?
Do it, I started with Injustice as well and after enjoying several betas SF6 is my new fave
@@andrewhammond8852 story and the fighting is more easy to get to. Ive wanted to play MK after enjoying Injustice. Mk 9 was stiff to control. MK 10 fighting was improvement with lessons learned from Injustice, but story was bland compared to Injustice series.
Were injustices good, and how were their stories, and would they be good today ?
@@daganbanks still holds up today imho. Injustice 1's Story was the biggest motivator in the campaign, if the story doesnt click to you then you might find it hard to push trough. Its also short (around 5 or so hrs) and can be finnished in one sitting. Injustice 2 was big improvement from 1, gameplay wise and story wise and graphics wise, imho.
Just a random list of TH-cam Street Fighter content creators/channels I'd personally recommend:
* James Chen (he has some REALLY good tutorials on his channel for SF6)
* Smug - One of the best FGC personalities out there, and he's a really good player.
* FGC Translated - features high-level Japanese Street Fighter 6 players, one of which is the G.O.A.T. Daigo Umerhara!!
* Rooflemonger - Good channel, covers fighting games across the board
*Tasty Steve - FGC commentator, pretty knowledgeable with the current SF6 build.
As someone who started my fgc journey in 09' it feels like it's come back full circle with 6! Capcom are capGODS again
I loved SF4, i loved what SF5 ended up becoming, but the prerelease hype for this one has been grand. I've avoided the demo abd betas, im ready to get home and PLAYYY
I've only played Guile and Chun Li in Street Fighter for like 20 years soooo i doubt that'll change tbh lol
Hey, where's the "10 *WEIRD* Gaming Stories of May 2023" 😳??
Been looking forward to it, my fav series from you guys
If they had all the classic characters added from SF2 era then I might buy it. Love that specific era.
PLEASE HELP!!!
I preordered the Ultimate Edition in the PlayStation Store digitally, but in-game appears that I don’t have access to the Ultimate Edition but the Standard Edition!!!
😣😭😭😭
Capcom doesnt disappoint with the character designs, they are amazing. Thanks for nice review, always a vibe to watch you
I mean they sure disappointed with the Street Fighter V designs.
Luke is Popeye, be honest! Now, we just need PC modder's to turn Zangief into Bluto, and Manon into Olive!
I’m just watching this to feel even better about buying this game🤷🏽♂️
Loved the demo, world mode must buy!
I watched this video to learn about the monetization and there was zero mention of that. I want to know if Capcom is going to lock things in a shop and then charge me for premium currency while requiring hours upon hours of grinding to earn the in-game equivalent. Because that is how games with a premium currency typically work.
If you're looking for a deeper dive into SF6 from a FGC vet, Rooflemonger released a great review yesterday.
Just watched it. Good recommendation 👍
Big ROOFS!
Goated comment
I love fighting games though I not a pro player. I always enjoy local mode or playing with my kids (Exept for MK of course).
Looks OK. I didn't enjoy the beta, but I've always enjoyed mortal kombat more, so I'll wait for mk1 and get the ultimate edition
I haven't played Street Fighter since I played Street Fighter II as a kid on the SNES. I'm 33 now. So it's been a while for me and this franchise. But 6 looks good!
I like the way it looks has the 90's style but with crisp graphics
As casual fighting game fans and saying to check out other reviewers for more in depth info is why I am subbed to you guys. Respect.
I’m not usually into fighting games at all, but I might pick this up once it starts to go on sale. It’s seems like there’s quite a bit of variety and accessibility for newcomers.
They need to make street fighter 3D like Tekken 7 ( the ring- arena needs to be 3D like tekken)
Street fighter and virtua fighter were one of my favorites. Me and m brothers used to play it. My twin brother plays Ken I play Ryu, and more often lose, but its a fun game ❤
Thanks for the video
System shock remake before you buy???
Great vid guys
I don’t even play Street Fighter, but it’s a Gameranx video so I watch. Love watching you guys!
I played about 100 hours in SF4. I couldn't do the technical combos into supers. I really enjoying the modern controls during the demo and bought SF6. The more relaxed control scheme makes it much more enjoyable.
I like that they include numerous different control styles.
Agreed, not everyone wants to be a tryhard spending hours in the lab learning combos. Modern controls ftw
@CM so it's either you're a try-hard or a casual? Dude you need to get that chip off your shoulder, it's just a game. 😅
@@NoMoreLies365 I’m saying these controls invite more casual players and allow them to actually have a fighting chance instead of being hit 300 times without being able to retaliate against the damn sweaty players.
damn, according to steam i played SF4 1768 hours 😂😂😂 best game ever, man
The honesty at the beginning of this review is greatly appreciated. Good stuff.
this is a certified capcom masterpiece
SF is my favorite fighting game franchise of all time. SF6 is easily the best game since SFIV. I enjoyed SFV once they added more content. Capcom learned their lessons and included variety on day one with SF6. Currently having a blast with World Tour mode.
SF6 is gonna be super hard, i will main cammy with the og skin so im basicly playing one handed wich is gonna be tough 😢
As an Italian American, I love that you named your character Stunad.
Buying regardless but love to see what y'all say
Bought Pizza, then beat up the Pizza Guy... Bro 😂 100% the vibe I will have playing that mode. Beating up someone you purchased something from will be form of thank you as far as I'm concerned
Maximilian Dood is one of the Goats
When it comes to street fighter? Yes but with Mortal Kombat ? No
Only channel I trust for reviews, never done me wrong
I already have it. Pre-ordered it months ago

@@kirkshanghai I'm also a Tekken fan.
