I trained one of my cats to sit for a reward but then whenever he wants something i’m eating, he’d come and sit infront of me, even repeating it a few times to make sure i see him doing it
Do you have a cue when you want your cat to sit (verbal, hand signal, or both)? He can learn that he'll get a treat when he sits ONLY after being cued to do so.
It took only an hour for my cat to start sitting when I tell him to! I used wet food and a tiny spoon and fed him little amounts every time he sat and made sure to praise him! He eventually got the memo that if he sits he gets the goods. Tysm for the advice
1. If the fire/smoke alarm goes off, I would like my cats to run to their carriers and wait inside until i come to take them outside. 2. If they find me unresponsive (not asleep), I would like them to go to the phone, take it off the hook, and press speed dial for 911.
I trained my mums cat to sit and to give a paw, raising the treat up helps, saying sit in a firm voice, if he tries to stand, gently encourage him into a sitting position then reward immediately, repeat until he's bored. For the paw, it's just a matter of lifting his paw while using the command, then giving the treat, he started raising his paw pretty quick, cats may not be as willing to do tricks for praise alone but they are certainly more than capable of being trained and he would actually seem pretty happy to do it, he was after all getting his favourite treats!
i just wanted to thank you once again for these amazing videos. i've started training with my cat about a month and a half ago and she can follow finger, sit, fist bump and jump in an arm hoop in sequence for just one treat! every time i post a video of her on twitter it blows up! she is not a very cuddly cat so this is has been an enormous bonding experience for us that we hadnt even known was possible. thank you so much!
My cat Juliet is weird. She sleeps with legs stretched like human beings and try to climb upon me for food.. she can even open doors . she doesn't meow but just mouths it😂
Same here. I just pushed his back end down and kept repeating 'sit' and then said 'good boy' and gave him his meal. After a few meals he now sits on command - no clicker, no hand signals needed. He also gets off my lap on command - I just say 'get down'. If he is eating and I say 'excuse me' he moves aside to let me open the cupboard door. if I leave the cupboard door open, I say 'shut the door' and he walks back and nudges it almost shut - then just to show off, he swings round and uses his tail to fully close it - then he immediately walks to his empty food bowl for a refill. Is he clever or just hungry all the time (he gets 4 pouches a day and isn't fat!).
I taught Pink to sit, then stay, for my protection when giving her treats. She used to slash at my hand. Joe and Squeaky learned from watching Pink. I think Pink got two extra treats before they caught on. They also do what I call "up" (sitting up on their hind end).
I just discovered that my cat is a genius. She caught on immediately but she will only sit when she knows there's a treat. Lol. Someone like her previous owners could have taught her before possibly. She has to know that a treat is involved though which I find hilarious.. orherwise you can almost forget it lolol. Still very impressed! What's crazy is that to begin with I didn't even have to tell her to sit, she did it naturally like she knows what to do. I was like "Oh wow.. Ok.." ..."Bet she wouldn't do it again." ..She did it every time. Gee what other tricks can I teach her lol!
I love watching your videos so much. I've been watching since April 2014, shortly after my boy Opey passed away. He looked almost exactly like Didga and it was incredibly uncanny to see his twin in a video, but at the same time it made me so happy to find another talented cat just like my boy. Its like a part of Opey lives in Didga and i love and adore her so much despite never meeting her. You and your cats are a huge inspiration and in Opey's honour, i decided to train my rescue cat Meeko (a purebred russian blue), who i rescued later on that same year, and now I teach him everything I can. He knows everything from skateboarding, to jumping on my shoulder or swimming. I have been teaching him new things for the past 4 years of his life. He learned how to high five when he was just 5 months old, then which paw was right or left, and when i say "right paw, left hand" he will high five my left hand with his right paw. Or "left paw, left hand." And so on... he also knows how to pat a cake, skateboard, he is very well behaved on a leash when we take him for walks, he can count to 5 by meowing or high five. (Still working on teaching him to count to a higher number), and this may be a fluke but i may or may not have taught him how to answer questions with his paws. "Right for yes, left for no." So you ask him a yes or no question, he will answer with his paws. I asked him one time "do you love mama?" And he gave me a left for no. Then my husband asked "do you love dad?" And he gave him right for yes. Then i asked "are you just pulling my leg?" And Meeko gave me a right for yes and it was the funniest thing ever. This cat has so much personality and he learns incredibly fast, just like Opey did when he was still here. I would love to get a clicker and clicker train him but i still have yet to find and purchase one. Thank you for being a huge inspiration! Pet and hug those beautiful kitties for me. ❤️
Unfortunately my cat likes to teach himself things. He learned how to open doors and now also figured out that he needs to turn the key if the door is locked.
Do not feed him pizza it is full of salt and sugars like fast food is very dangerous for them and if your gonna give him fried chicken or chicken at all its better to peel the skin off
Ah yes. Genius. I'm pretty sure Jasper understands now but I'm guessing he learnt fast because he usually does what I say :') He always follows me. He's a mommy's boy uwu.
Got my cat Milo at 6 weeks old. I told everyone I was going to raise the coolest cat. I moved out at 17 and I was 19. Taught him to walk on a leash and harness. He also loves to go outside on our enclosed porch and has never tried to run away. He's buddies with all the street cats. He knows the commands "come, sit, down, stand, touch". I started sit when he was about two months old. It helps a lot if your cat is highly food motivated. With his personality type of loving to please and loving food it was so obvious to me to start training. He loves working his mind. He's just the smartest guy now. 19 lbs of smartness. No he's not fat he's just a big ass cat.

She killed the snake and ran off with it don't know for sure if it was poisonous or not it looked like what is known as a pine rattler but cannot say for sure.
