the library at mount char is probably my favorite book out of 82 books i’ve read so far this year! it’s funny because i tried to read it like 3 times in the past and always DNF’d about 50 pages in because I was so confused. I finally tried one last time and forced myself to keep going even though I was lost, and I am SO glad i did
I really think you would love Unraveller by Frances Hardinge! It’s my favorite read of 2023 and the most mature YA story I’ve read in such a long time. Beautiful themes about coping with trauma and the difference between “justice” and “vengeance” while being set in this whimsical world that gives me A Series of Unfortunate Events vibes. Highly recommend.
I'm starting A DEADLY EDUCATION because of your recommendation and I am obsessed with it!! I can feel it being my next binge for the rest of the month.
Hello! Your videos always make me so happy to watch 💛 And you talking about how you like weird books made me think you might end up being a fan of The Orphan's Tales by Catherynne M. Valente. In the Night Garden is the first book. Weird, gorgeous reads for sure
So glad you enjoyed Library at Mount Char. One of my very favorite books ever. As an aside, not sure why people think Government is in any way better than a corporation.
First off, I enjoy your channel and really dig your vibe. Your enthusiasm about reading is incredibly refreshing. Im also a sucker for a cute pug. I picked up mount char upon you mentioning it a few vlogs back. I also enjoyed about 80% of this book. Very well written but the ending didn’t seem to fit for me. It seemed like two different stories. It spent most of the book going over the rules only to change them all at the end. Also briefly explaining interesting characters ( the ice burg ) then never going back to them. I felt this disjunction may have been because this was the author’s first book. Thank you and Keep up the good work and I’ll keep reading right behind you.
While I appreciate you addressing the monster that is “corporate greed,” I wish we could see your actions align a bit more with that sentiment. Watching you open Amazon boxes in several of your book hauls and talk about your Prime Day purchases and whatnot is kind of disappointing. You’ve shared the fact that you live in a city with Texas’ largest independent book store, there are also various other small local book stores & larger chains in your area. I don’t see why Amazon would be necessary when you live in a major US city that offers nearly everything (not just bookish things). Still love your channel though & I’m grateful for the few people that speak up on their platforms. I understand that there is no such thing as ethical consumption under capitalism but it doesn’t mean we can’t all try a little harder. :/
Can I just say I love you using your channel to speak out on important issues (while drinking coffee and wearing cute pjs)?
seeing Clay try to avoid being in the frame is always so funny
always a queen w the activism chats love that
Regan hyper-fixating on her trip immediately reminded me of that quote from The Secret History: "I am nothing in my soul if not obsessive"
Library at Mount Char is one of my favorite books. It is just so weird but so, so good.
Came here to say just this
Same! The ending has stuck with me as well. The weirdest read of 2022 for me and it easily made my top 10 for the year as well.
Omg, Library at Mount Char is one I've never heard of but sounds so good! I love that you read such a range of books!
Clay in the background at the end had me giggling 😂

Your rant about corporations is a good lead in to remind everyone that a trickle down economy doesn’t work ✌️
I’ve had a very weird, kind of bad day and I just knew you’d have a video ready to calm me down and cheer me up ❤ thank you Reagan!

The Bear is soooo good!!
I’m currently reading Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant and I feel like you would love it. It’s a sci fi horror book about mermaids. It’s so good!
It’s sooo good in a B-movie sort of way. The audiobook got me through a bout of food poisoning last year.

These sound great! I’ve just read Queen Hearafter about Lady Macbeth which I think you’d really like with your love of history and lyrical writing
You are my comfort TH-camr 🥰
Happy Holidays!
Recipe for the roast please? It looks delicious!
The Bear is the best show! Maybe try to time it to watch the "Fishes" episode (S2 E6) around Christmas.
Yayyy!
Do I need to read any other books before reading Best Served Cold?
