I haven't read any of these books but they look like a good selection! I'm excited to see what your next readathons etc are for the end of this year/next year!
The Great Gatsby feels like one of those books where you either love it or hate it. I didn't care for it when I read it in college, but I have gained more of an appreciation for it over the years. Looks like a good variety of books this month!
I found the discussions on the Close Reads podcast regarding The Great Gatsby to really helpful in fully appreciating it. Otherwise I probably would have thought it was meh.
I read The Great Gatsby in high school and remember liking it other than the ending. Though I can’t remember why, I’d like to revisit the classics I read in high school to see if I feel differently about them now. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
They Came to Baghdad is my favorite Agatha Christie and it’s definitely a whodunnit. I’m pretty sure the clues are all there for you to figure it out. And I love that you picked your TBR by the size of the book. I’ve never done that but might give it a go sometime. 😊
I hope you feel better. I can't believe you are getting ready to announce your next reading challenge. I have enjoyed your Doyle and Montgomery challenge this year. Can't wait to hear what you have for us next year.
Addendum: 😊 also my daughter’s favorite book and she has great taste in books. She did a whole research paper on how Fitzgerald wrote a criticism of his own life
I'm curious about The Tightrope Walker. I have only 3 books left in the Mrs. Pollifax series and am thinking about reading some of Gilman's other books.
I’ve never picked a TBR based off it’s size. I’m going to be reading the Elven Alliance series by Tara Grayce for probably all or most of November though I’m not sure what else until my mood lets me in on the secret, haha. 😂
I teach The Great Gatsby. In fact, we are finishing up that unit right now. It’s an interesting one… I can’t say I really like it but I don’t hate it either.
Like you, I never read The Great Gatsby in high school, but I did finally read it a few years ago and it was a 5-star read for me. So I'm glad you're giving it a shot and hopefully won't find it too intimidating!
Hi Chantel I hope that you start to feel better soon. I only read one or two books at a time - A Physical Book and a Kindle Book from Start to Finish. I hope that you enjoy these books that you will be reading. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏☕️🔰🍂🐿️🍁❤️
❤cool tbr! Hope u feel better soon. I'm getting over a cold as well. Just that time of year i guess. Seems everyone has got a frog in the throat. Makes the video kinda funny tho cuz i lost my voice halfway through my last vid lol😂😊Praying for you!❤
Praying for continued healing and health. I laughed out loud at your comment after the first line of the Agatha Christie novel. I can relate. Hope you find a book or two that you enjoy for November. ❤
Girl, get yourself to the doctor if you haven’t already! I was diagnosed with pneumonia a week ago after a week of fevers, exhaustion, and shortness of breath. The antibiotics, steroids, and inhaler have helped a lot. Take care of yourself! Sending healthy thoughts your way.
100% recommend Evidence Not Seen, and its a good audiobook too. It is hands down my favorite Christian biography. But it does have a few serious events, and at least one very gruesome description of her helping her husband recover from a jungle disease.
Wait... You didn't read any L. M. Montgomery in school.... In Canada. Wow. Yeah, big fail. 😂😂 That feels like an English lit course without Shakespeare. 😂😂
I just thrifted a book haul of 231 books for 37 dollars for my book giveway at applebees( 3701 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002). I am the host there. I have given away over 2600 books for babies kids teens and adults in 10 months. I just dropped 2 videos showing the haul . Let's get this generation reading
I do love my cat very dearly and I would do anything for her.
"The things we do for cats." 👏👏👏👏👏 Yesssss!!😅
I know you didn’t chose it but for future reference, I enjoyed Evidence Not Seen immensely. I found it hopeful and encouraging.
Praying for you! I hope you feel better
Thank you!
I hope u are soon well. I had never heard of The Lost Prince. Looking forward to reading it. I love Frances Hodgson Burnett!
Hope you enjoy the Great Gatsby!
It's one I've been curious about for awhile, about time I finally read it!
I didn’t like The Great Gatsby when I read it in high school, but I am planning on giving it another try
UNBROKEN or SEABISCUIT by Laura Hillenbrand are great nonfiction.
I read Unbroken a number of years ago, it was very well done.
I haven't read any of these books but they look like a good selection! I'm excited to see what your next readathons etc are for the end of this year/next year!
Glad your health is on the return!
Me too!
Oh, I liked the Great Gatsby.
It sounds like the thriller you choose could be your intimidating book, too.
True!
The Great Gatsby feels like one of those books where you either love it or hate it. I didn't care for it when I read it in college, but I have gained more of an appreciation for it over the years. Looks like a good variety of books this month!
I loved The Great Gatsby and am so glad you chose that one! I hope you enjoy it.🙂
I hope so too!
I found the discussions on the Close Reads podcast regarding The Great Gatsby to really helpful in fully appreciating it. Otherwise I probably would have thought it was meh.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to listen to those!
I read The Great Gatsby in high school and remember liking it other than the ending. Though I can’t remember why, I’d like to revisit the classics I read in high school to see if I feel differently about them now. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I feel the same way about the classics I read in high school!
I really enjoyed the great gatsby in the same way that I enjoyed Anna Karennina - a beautifully done cautionary tale.
They Came to Baghdad is my favorite Agatha Christie and it’s definitely a whodunnit. I’m pretty sure the clues are all there for you to figure it out.
And I love that you picked your TBR by the size of the book. I’ve never done that but might give it a go sometime. 😊
Yay, glad to hear it's a whodunnit!
I hope you feel better soon! How fun that you were able to have a theme of small books. The Visitation is a favorite of mine.
Frank Peretti is always a win!
"Good for Captain Crosby" 😂😂. I hope you feel better soon and that you enjoy your book choices!
😊
I hope you feel better. I can't believe you are getting ready to announce your next reading challenge. I have enjoyed your Doyle and Montgomery challenge this year. Can't wait to hear what you have for us next year.
I can't believe it's almost that time, this year has flown by!
Gatsby is so good! It’s a haunting cautionary tale and so so good!
Addendum: 😊 also my daughter’s favorite book and she has great taste in books. She did a whole research paper on how Fitzgerald wrote a criticism of his own life
I'm looking forward to finally reading it!
I'm curious about The Tightrope Walker. I have only 3 books left in the Mrs. Pollifax series and am thinking about reading some of Gilman's other books.
I've heard good things and it's got good reviews!
Hope you feel much better soon! Good to see you❤❤
Thanks Amanda!
I’ve never picked a TBR based off it’s size. I’m going to be reading the Elven Alliance series by Tara Grayce for probably all or most of November though I’m not sure what else until my mood lets me in on the secret, haha. 😂

So curious to start it!
Never read by size but think that’s a fun criteria. I didn’t love Gatsby but wonder if I was too young to fully understand it in high school.
I've never done this size TBR thing before either, it was fun to pick this way though.
I think you got rid of 'her darkest secret ' in your get rid of video. I couldn't finish the first chapter was too scary. Good self discovery lol.
I've never owned Her Darkest Secret, I borrowed that one from the library. I really enjoyed it but it is very creepy!
I read the sample 'married by treachery ' that was in your last video. Yup definitely on my xmas list ! Looks amazing
They Came to Baghdad is sort of like whodunnit but it is more adventurous than her usual ones.
I quite liked it though 😉
Good to know, thanks!
11:09 as an American, I prefer British lit for whatever reason. I haven’t read a lot of American classics either
Honestly, British classics are the best.
Hi Chantel
I hope that you start to feel better soon.
I only read one or two books at a time - A Physical Book and a Kindle Book from Start to Finish.
I hope that you enjoy these books that you will be reading.
Take Care & Happy Reading
❤️🤗🙏☕️🔰🍂🐿️🍁❤️
Thanks Linda, I'm feeling better every day now!
❤cool tbr! Hope u feel better soon. I'm getting over a cold as well. Just that time of year i guess. Seems everyone has got a frog in the throat. Makes the video kinda funny tho cuz i lost my voice halfway through my last vid lol😂😊Praying for you!❤
It is that time of year! This cold has taken a month to go through our entire family but I was the last one so hopefully we're done for a bit!
Evidence not Seen is an amazing story!
Great to hear!
Praying for continued healing and health. I laughed out loud at your comment after the first line of the Agatha Christie novel. I can relate. Hope you find a book or two that you enjoy for November. ❤
Thanks for your prayers! Haha, we can't all be as lucky as Captain Crosbie.
My book for the Doyle RYBC is Peretti's Prophet.
I am interested to see your thoughts on The Great Gatsby.
I hope you enjoy Prophet!
I've read The Great Gatsby twice...once in college and then a few years ago. I don't hate it but don't love it but can't seem to let it go.😅
Haha, as least it's a short one!
I'm good now! I have a long history with pneumonia and knew this wasn't it, thankfully.
100% recommend Evidence Not Seen, and its a good audiobook too. It is hands down my favorite Christian biography. But it does have a few serious events, and at least one very gruesome description of her helping her husband recover from a jungle disease.
I look forward to reading it in a month when I don't have quite so much going on!
Hope you feel better. My BFF read the great gatsby in grade nine English class 😊
Hopefully I can make it through! 😊
I read Evidence Not Seen ages ago, and it was a great story. But, yeah. Very hard.
Glad to hear it's a good story despite the hardness!
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well!!
I plan to read only one book in November. I chose a chunky book for my intimidating book, Blood of the Stars. I’m sure it will take all month 😬
That one is a chunker, I hope you enjoy it!
I don't remember They All Came to Baghdad that well, but I don't think it's a whodunit.
Thanks!
I'm an American and I don't know those authors either🤣
Ha, well that makes me feel better!
I subscibed to you
Welcome here!
I'm sure some people like The Great Gatsby, but I'm not one of those people.
Agree, I expected more from it
I'll go in with low expectations!
I think Gatsby is generally liked, but I didn't love it.
Good thing it's short! 😊
Wait... You didn't read any L. M. Montgomery in school.... In Canada. Wow. Yeah, big fail. 😂😂 That feels like an English lit course without Shakespeare. 😂😂
Right?! Someone REALLY dropped the ball there. I even took an Canadian English lit course in university and no LM there either!
I just thrifted a book haul of 231 books for 37 dollars for my book giveway at applebees( 3701 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002). I am the host there. I didn't like The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is sooooo boring
🤣🤣🤣 at least it's short!
