I played EQ2 at launch in 2004 and played regular until 2010. Game had so many good ideas and mechanics but was just completely overshadowed by WOW. I really wish they could release a progressive server from the original release, but apparently that code just no longer exists. The original game only had 4 classes at level 1, then after leveling to 10 you picked a subclass , leveled to 20, then picked your final subclass. Would be cool to go through that progression again for some serious nostalgia.
Btw you sound try monster and memories stress test 1 of june 4 hours and the whole weekend 28-30 of june. It is similar to eq but better graphics and some different race.
EQ2 needs a huge refresh. Just looks too dated these days and looks to be the original engine which is pretty terrible client wise. Once upon a time they were going to redo a lot of the renderer to move more things off to the GPU but I guess it was so bad under the hood that they abandoned that idea.
I played SOOO much eq2 but fell off hard sometime after kunark. I always hated that they got rid of the side districts... I might actually check this out. I have no idea what the pay model is for this or roadmap or anything else though, so I will need to do some more research. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!! I'm glad it was recommended.
The races that appeared later and the pay races are not in the game. froglok and ratonga are, even though they were later, but fay, arisai, freeblood, akeryan, vah shir and maybe something else seems to be locked away.
very interested in where they go with stats in the end. the stat bloat currently is unacceptable, having combat numbers in the billions and millions is just awful and over the top ;(
Definitely. It seems the stats are like how they used to be where strength is melee, wisdom is resists and priest power pool int is spell damage. I am not sure if str does melee abilities or int does but it seems like str would make sense. agility is defense and avoidance and stamina is still hp. though the tool tips have not changed.
@@AntizarkGaming sounds like an improvement to me! its unfortunate daybreak recently confirmed (again) that they have zero plans for any stat "squish," but i dont see how you'd avoid it. it might just be me, too, but it's not fun to hit something for 2.6 million damage.
They added the side towns back in??! SWEEET. I want to come check it out but I don't know if I can risk getting as addicted to it as I was to Classic WoW.
I hope so. The most disappointing thing ever was coming back to the game after they removed them and levelling with my bro through runnyeye. We finally completed the dungeon after hours and hours and beat the evil eye only to find out the epic conclusion yielded!....Nothing...
Think I might have to 2-box this again like I did back in early 2000s. Even though I still play current content.. need to buy another character slot or two.
Eq2 origins is on steam. It is eq2 and set in the 2006 rule set. It is in beta now and will release mid june around the 16th. It is a time release server

Origins is about as close as were going to get. It is a 2006 version of the rule set, and no kronos.
Just a tip: consider giving a brief explanation on what the game actually is your about to talk about first. I have no idea what EQ2 Origins is.

They have updated clienta and servers to direct x 11. So they are steppong towards that
With eq3 being an actual thing again I wouldn't hold my breath for any more eq2 updates aside from making sure they run on current apis

Well currently the max level is 22 they are slow rolling them out as it is beta.
Will the access quests be in? I think they got removed sometime in 2006.

There are loads of players. You wont even need the 2 box. The beta is always on heavy or medium load even on off hours.
