An unarmed old man who massacres the enemy through feats of insane cleverness, slowly becoming more and more disenchanted with what he's doing. "The first thing you notice about the Doctor of War is that he's unarmed. For many, that's also the last."
I highly recommend John Hurt's four series as the War Doctor. There's also a connected Eighth Doctor series leading into it. And Derek Jacobi's War Master. And the Gallifrey audios. There is so much Time War material now, and it's great.
Superb acting from both Doctors. Really makes you feel like there's a difference between "I left home with my granddaughter and now I'm just travelling I guess" Doctor and the "I've spent countless millenia saving and killing people, protecting and destroying entire worlds, loved and lost so many companions, and fought in the biggest war ever so I cope by focusing on the fun things" Doctor
the fearful expression david bradley has when he says "what was that" really sells the fact that the first doctor is far younger than the twelfth and hasnt seen as much as he has. such a good actor.
Even with that, the First Doctor really wasn't much a hero of himself. He was more like a goody-goody adventurer, it was until the Second Doctor that he actually became "the one who fights the monsters".
Hypothetically if William Hartnell was able to play the first doctor in this special and if he was the same way/age as when he left the series, I wonder if he would have been able to convey the same reaction as Bradley.
One thing I love about 12 is that he has been doing his thing for so long he lets it go to his head. You see this in “World Enough and Time” where 12 focuses so much on making a dramatic and moving speech, that he wastes too much time and gets Bill shot. As well as how 1 reacts to 12 showing off and being over confident. So it’s no surprise to me that he is more theatrical and plays into the legend of The Doctor.
This scene shows exactly what it means when they talk about the age of the Doctor being revealed thru his eyes. 1's eyes are childlike and fearful, 12's are hardened and angry. The difference 1200-1500 years (or 1billion+ with Heaven Sent) will make.
Lots of Murray Gold's classics returned throughout the episode, mainly because it was also his last episode, so it was a celebration of his music throughout the series. "All the Strange Strange Creatures" in the first few minutes, "Doomsday" when the first Doctor and Bill are speaking while the Doctor visits Rusty, "The Majestic Tale" for this scene, "Vale" for the first Doctor's regeneration, "The Singing Towers," "The Doctor's Theme" (2005), Clara's Theme, etc. And I was so happy that he used "The Shepherd's Boy" for the twelfth Doctor's regeneration. Couldn't have been any other.
@@tomcartwright_7 Oh, and I forgot to mention "A Pressing Need to Save the World" when the TARDIS is exploding after Jodie says "brilliant." Which got me so hyped up for Jodie because I thought it was just a really great introduction. But god, yes. I so hope he does. And if he doesn't, I think the perfect choice would be Natalie Holt. No bias, I swear. 😂 But I feel like she has a similar style yet is different enough to set her own apart should she ever do it. I really hope they consider her.
“The beast of trenzalore” “The destroyer of skarro” “He is the Doctor of war” “To be fair they cut out all the jokes” I died at that part his response was so in tune with himself
When they recount all the enemies the doctor has defeated and all the awful names he's earned as a result I'm reminded of all things, the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie True Lies " did you really kill all of them?". " yes but they were all bad people."
"The Doctor has walked in blood through all of time and space. The Doctor has many names. The Destroyer of Worlds. The Imp of the Pandorica. The Shadow of the Valeyard. The Beast of Trenzalore. The Butcher of Skull Moon. The Last Tree of Garsennon. The Destroyer of Skaro. He is the Doctor of War." Destroyer of worlds we've seen from Davros. Imp of the Pandorica was Matt's storyline. Love the Valeyard and reference from Old Who. Trenzalore the war, Matt's again. And Skull Moon was a Time War battle in which the doctor had a part. In Hell Bent, a soldier says he was there at skull moon then sides with Capaldi. Destroyer of Skaro is Old Who but partly New Who again with Tennant and Capaldi. Interestly, the last Tree of Garsennon is completely new so it might be a future story cause its not even in comics or any of the doctor who stories TV and otherwise.
1:27 Most initially felt that his reaction was just from seeing his future but put the whole thing into perspective. This Doctor has not long left gallifrey for nothing other than to see the universe. While recently dying and choosing not to regenerate, he get's a glimpse of his future of he lives. He doesn't see a playful man, or a curious one. He sees a tyrant, one that is feared across the entire universe, one that can send an entire army running at the mention of his name. He truly does see himself became one of the most despicable beings to ever exist.
comicconcarne I mean, pretty much yeah. There has always been a dark side to the Doctor (even with context). I think the most terrifying moment was when 12 said “The Doctor is no longer here; you are stuck with me”. If you think away the Doctor (the rules and promises he made to himself), then you’re just stuck with the most powerful man in the universe unshackled. The Doctor has always done whatever he pleases but even that can be terrifying to the first. He has singe handedly decided the fates of entire species, civilizations, planets, galaxies, and even the universe (on occasion). Even with context, just from a different perspective the Doctor can be a terrifying and tyrannical existence. What gives him the right to decide everyone else’s fate? To decide who loves and who dies? Nothing. He just does it because he feels like it. I think the first Doctor would be terrified even if they hadn’t cut out the jokes and gave the full picture. He’s just so naive and young (despite being 400 something). He just recently ran away from Gallifrey with his granddaughter to see the universe and all of a sudden he’s told that he becomes this godly force in the future that has probably committed more death than any other single individual in the universe (even with context, that’s a hard pill to swallow).
Love Bill's remark about the window-size that even the Doctor missed. Loved how she pointed out all the inconsistencies in the show during her run. She'll be missed.
I wouldn’t really call it an inconsistency in this case since the tardis has always changed appearance and the doctor calls it a redecoration. Since the tardis is a living sentient being I imagine it gets tired of the same old desktop theme and exterior look from time to time and spices things up. However I don’t know how the exterior look changes if the chameleon circuit is broken. Still it’s a funny scene nonetheless. Especially when the doctor gets out of the tardis to look at the window a second time.
People are still doing the "Wow it's almost like we watched the same video!" comment? It's so stupid, the original comment is just to say 'haha this was a funny line' and all the likes are agreeing and it's all pleasant. Your addition, however, is just unoriginal and tiresome.
I love it even more when he has to pose when he say “The Doctor” in such a haughty (maybe not the right word for it; legend? Is legend an adjective for how you say something) voice. It just showcases how much more confident and cocky 12 is compared the first (which makes sense considering the HUGE difference in experience).
David Tennant's Dr Who was also like that, which why he is still my favorite. There is this episode, the Fury of the Timelord, where he imprison some beings that are immortal, so he puts them in the worst places to suffer forever as punishment for trying to destroy earth.
I think I finally understood why I Am the Doctor is used here despite being Eleven's theme; it's Murray Gold waving goodbye to us, with encore of old favorite.
And I love that Bill is so thrilled and proud of all that the Doctor had done, while the Doctor himself is actually embarassed to have his former self see how ruthless and feared he becomes and covers it with a joke.
It's nice to see them drop it every now and again, they also did it with the Great Intelligence :) The chances of him coming back though are pretty slim. When Virgin were in charge of writing the books they were urged not to write about the Valeyard because it could get pretty confusing, plus technically he should have come back a couple of years ago :p
He was originally written into a Tenth Doctor comic, taking place after Journey's End, but they didn't like the way they were going with him, so they altered it.
Man do I love the dichonomy between the 1st and 12th Doctors. It really goes to show just how much things had changed overtime for The Doctor as a person who started off exploring the universe as a curiosity to becoming someone who goes around doing so with the intent to save people along the way where he can. Even if it forces him to do things he doesn't like. And the 1st Doctor's frightened reaction really hits home when you know what's in his future. I really wish we had more of those self reflective moments with 1 and 12 contrasting the differences between where they were in the past, where 12 was now (wondering whether or not to live or die as he is) and where he would be going (Wherever Captain Chibbers and the 13th Doctor are taking the show for Series 11) Ah well, still love the episode despite some of the "All ladies are made of glass" moments from the 1st Doctor.
I agree. I had hoped that, while it wouldn’t be the sole plot, that we would be shown how different 1 and 12 are, from how they act to the type of adventures they are used to. I had also hoped that 1 seeing his future would cause him to become even more determined not to regenerate or at least become more interested in knowing who he ends up becoming. And despite the how they made 1 more sexist than he actually was and the easy to prevent plot, I still enjoyed the episode for it’s emotional story and for the chance to see the original TARDIS again.
“Why are you advertising your intentions? Can’t you stop boating for a moment?” Absolutely love how that line is delivered 😂, this moment gives me chills every single time. Absolute perfection
Bill was always super quick at observing and seeing things. The rug under the Tardis in the Doctors office at university. She caught that detail in minutes. I don't think i'd have ever noticed it.
Serge Kent, the theme used here is a variation of I Am The Doctor. The Majestic Tale theme in itself is a variation of the I Am The Doctor theme. They're all really one in the same to me.
I can never get over the look of absolute terror on 1st's face at the end of that always gets me, the horror of seeing that he becomes and worse what he is known for and remembered for
Everyone always talks about how great the two actors playing the doctors are but massive credit to Nikki Amuka-Bird playing the glass lady. I could listen to her talk about the doctors different names all day, the way she delivers them is great.
One thing I love about 12 is that he has been doing his thing for so long that he lets it go to his head. You see this in “World Enough and Time” where 12 focuses so much on making a dramatic and moving speech, that he wastes too much time and gets Bill shot. Later on he wastes time again showing off explaining a black hole and time dilation that Bill becomes a Cyberman. "10 years you spent up there, chatting. You missed her by 2 hours." As well as how 1 reacts to 12 showing off and being over confident. So it’s no surprise to me that 12 is more theatrical and plays into the legend of The Doctor. Especially with that pose at 0:35
It's not entirely his fault. His main weapon is his mouth, he talks his way out of danger. He talks fast to charm and confuse people, it normally prevents violence. He just got unlucky with Bill.
You see something like that with 10 in "Midnight" Without Donna there to prodive a more "human" touch, the people on the space bus quickly turn on 10, to the extent that they actively tried to murder him. All because they didn't like him acting smart and above everyone else.
I always wondered about this. New who is different from old who. I always thought that the original writers and a creators might be surprised at how violent they are now. Not that I'm complaining. They nailed this scene perfectly
To be fair, in the second episode of the series, the Doctor tried to smash the skull of a sleeping man with a big rock. That would've been pretty violent.
Aloysius Whiteboat The fourth Doctor nearly genocided the Daleks. And the Silurians got blown up at the end of pretty much every episode they were in back then. The violence might look different now, since it's a lot higher budget, but it's pretty much been always there.
Violence was pretty recurrent in the old/classic series as well, it just wasn't as overblown. Resurrection of The Daleks has a ridiculous body count for instance.
that part actually bothers me. she's happy to see what is basically a monster. if you laugh at the doctor's life where they've taken out all the jokes, you ain't right in the head
@@ramsesbams I kind of see it more as how she's The Doctor after her experiences with him. The man she knows isn't a monster who goes around destroying worlds but a traveler who rarely ever passed up helping someone he encountered who needed it, including herself. While the 1st Doctor is seeing only all the destruction Bill's likely seeing all the odds The Doctor has faced and overcome to save the day. Whether that is a good interpretation for her to have is certainly up for debate but most of The Doctor's companions do tend to have a lot of faith in his inherent goodness.
I love David Bradley's face at 1:27. This was a great scene bc of how well it showed the dilemma 1 was facing, and that the universe might just be better off if he refused to regenerate. I feel like the rest of the episode should have focussed a little more on that conflict, but it was still a pretty great story.
Please stop making comments about this everywhere, mate. I heard from other people that a lot of lines from the 1st Doctor in this episode don't fit his actual character. Personally I can't form an opinion on that, bc I haven't watched the 1st Doctor's episodes. Still, I don't think any of this should devalue Bradley's performance, let alone the entire episode. There were still plenty of great moments in the episode with the 1st Doctor (example: this one) and you're unwilling to see anything good in this entire story because you feel personally insulted by how the character was presented. If the 1st Doctor was portrayed inaccurately, I think the writing would be more at fault than the actor. I'm not saying this isn't a problem (I am saying I don't know), but it definitely isn't nearly problematic enough to post 7000 TH-cam comments complaining about it. So uh, please stop doing that, thanks
puik puikmans you should watch the classics. They’re really good, also, I don’t see why everyone is so offended, it’s just a tv show.. so what if it’s sexist? It’s funny.
Personally I felt like the sexism jokes were repeated a bit too often throughout the episode to still be funny at the end. It wasn't the topic of the jokes that kinda bothered me, just the repetition. It didn't ruin the quality of the entire story ofc. Also, if it's funny but not true to the original character, I can see where some people are coming from. Comedy shouldn't be more important than the characters themselves. It should originate from the characters, rather than appear out of nowhere. Again, Idk if that's the case here, I should prob try to watch the classics sometime to get a good idea of the 1st Doctor's personality.
The beautiful mix of all of the Doctor's newer theme song pieces was gorgeous. Starts off with 12's theme, transitions into 10's, and then moves into a bombastic version of 11's I am the Doctor. So good!
One thing I love about this episode is how First changes his perception of what “Doctor of War” means. In this scene he’s horrified with what he becomes and thinks 12 is some kind of monster but during the Christmas Truce scene he sees “Doctor of War” as a man who goes round saving everyone why? Because it’s kind
This scene is so powerful. The Doctor ran from Gallifrey because he was scared of the legends. The monsters from beyond time like the Hybrid. Beings of terrible power, gods and demons. He ran because he thought he could avoid it all. But in this moment he sees that his very decision to run, is exactly what sealed his fate. And not only did he not escape the legends. But in his future, he is the greatest and most terrible legend of them all. The one even the other legends fear.
It's just esoteric fan service. Recycling old footage and a long list of random references to make fans squeal. They do this every series. Along with shoe horning their own ill fitting storylines like the War Doctor who came and went in 1 episode, to try and emphasise that it's all "canon". Why can't they just tell a good character story instead of constantly go all Wikipedia on viewers.
CJ MacPhail not really NO , This is not more epic than..... The Dalek Invasion in Parting Of ways. The Scene were the doctors burns the sky in the Poison Sky. Dalek Invasion In Journeys End.actually all of the season 4 finale was epic The Doctors rooftop speech in The Eleventh Hour. The Epic Music used in the final scenes of Vampires in Venice. The TARDIS revealing itself in the Oval Office. The Speech the Doctor Makes to the silence as man first sets foot on the moon , River song revealed to be Amy’s daughter. Lastly: The Scene were all 13 doctors Were onscreen at once and flew all there TARDISs into Gallifrey to save it from destruction by a Dalek fleet. So NO this is not the most Epic Moment in Doctor Who , Moffat was trying to make it epic but it falls flat and last 20 seconds.
The Destroyer of Worlds. The Imp of the Pandorica. The shadow of the Valleyard. The Beast of Trenzalore. The Butcher of Skull Moon. Edit: Failed to mention that those gave me the chills man.
I think the first Doctor would be much more relieved to know that Beast of Trenzalore is just a name for the outer world and for Trenzalore residents it was The Man who stayed for Christmas.
William Hartnell (who originally played the First Doctor in the 60s) never knew how much of a success Doctor Who was going to become in the future so to me this scene is such a beautiful tribute to him
Doctor Who will never be without Murray Gold; the soundtrack is truly mesmerising. The change from a variation of 'A Good Man' to 'I am the Doctor' upon the the Doctor's same remark is actually epic..
Underrated thing is with the music. 'I Am The Doctor' kicks in the moment that One says "I am the Doctor". Whether intentional or not, it's such a cool little detail.
This is my single favorite doctor moment ever so far. Not even my favorite doctor but no one could have done that better imo. This scene still gives me goose bumps when I watch it!
Peter Capaldi was such a fantastic Doctor! You can definitely feel the love and effort he put into his tenure and I will always say he's one of my personal favorites
Chiefs Kingdom I think he meant the regular Series 10 run but technically you are right, and it's crazy that we are only a few months away from a brand new era.
I still think this was the cleverest counter measure any of the Doctor's enemies have ever used against him. Showing the darkest moments of the Doctor's life, accurately but shorn entirely of context, to his youngest and most naive self, during a crisis of self doubt about his own morality? That would mess up most of us, but imagine you're a strong contender for being the literal main cause of death in the universe... *Damn*
Honestly that should have been the plot, the first doctor was already deadset on not regenerating because he to him regenerating was creating a new man, not a new version of himself. And now he’s see what he will become if he follows through with regenerating, a Man feared by the entire universe, a man who does whatever he wants because he can and what he does has earn numerous names and titles of untold carnage. Bro would need a serious convincing conversation from his future self to make him go through with it.
I think Bill's face during that whole Doctor of War bit is all of our faces: for as much as we know that the Doctor has left death and destruction in his wake, he never started or asked for those fights and he leaves behind just as much life behind him too. It's easy for him to be labeled a villain and a monster, mostly because he himself doesn't see himself as a hero, but we all know he is.
Imagine the emissions running through Capaldi when he’s in that tardis, that console room, watching it as a child and working there as an adult. People say dreams don’t come true or never meet your hero’s, but that’s the magic of doctors who.
The last 3 episodes were some of the best in twelve’s run playing with how physics actually work next to a black hole, the return of the master, the genesis of cyber for once the doctor didn’t actually get away the return of the first doctor so much awesome in just three episodes
Spaceship episodes always have the risk of being "running through corridor" episodes, but they managed to have a contained sci-fi setting that also involved some hard science, and in the past episodes like Midnight have used contained environments to their advantage. Yet somehow Series 11 still has Tsuranga Conundrum and a series of sterile walls with no personality.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Is a question that empowers many fandoms. It in it's own right is a powerful question. I guess the Doctor knows to spin on

The best doctor, Capaldi is such an impressive actor
One of the best scenes from modern Who, I always love when they go over all of his past like when the eye things were talking to 11 on the roof of that hospital
I think they are making the First Doctor out to be a bit more innocent than he was. Let’s not forget that the first time we see him in the first ever episode he attempts to imprison two completely innocent teachers indefinitely and only doesn’t because Susan talks him out of it; he kidnaps them instead.
He was definitely more rougher in his first incarnation but I bet he definitely never imagined himself as this hero that has taken down hundreds of species with an indestructible reputation that can put fear in an entire army with just his name. His original plan was to just chill out and enjoy the universe with his granddaughter after all.
Only Doctor Who can have the older looking person be the younger and more innocent one and it works

@@robertholt3996 crazy i didnt even notice that, some great great scores there. Id kill for Murray to come back for at least one episode😂

Do you get "Deal with it vibes" when it cuts to 12 before 1 asks the question?
When they recount all the enemies the doctor has defeated and all the awful names he's earned as a result I'm reminded of all things, the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie True Lies " did you really kill all of them?". " yes but they were all bad people."
They forgot "The Oncoming Storm".

Destroyer of worlds we've seen from Davros. Interestly, the last Tree of Garsennon is completely new so it might be a future story cause its not even in comics or any of the doctor who stories TV and otherwise.
oh really? Huh, I didn't know that, I wonder if that's a storyline Chibnall plans to explore with 13, I hope so

Most initially felt that his reaction was just from seeing his future but put the whole thing into perspective.
So basically, the fearsome Valeyard is just The Doctor after "they cut out the jokes"
comicconcarne I mean, pretty much yeah.
Insert what 10 did to "The Family" here.
We’ll he is the doctor basically when you see him run

Love Bill's remark about the window-size that even the Doctor missed. Loved how she pointed out all the inconsistencies in the show during her run. She'll be missed.
Agreed, she is definitely one of my favourite companions!
She was so cute.
Jacob Harris it’s a smaller scale version of what happened to the future tardis in name of the doctor
I like how he got ready to go in but backed up to see because he thought about it for a second

Felt like they bit exaggerated what Doctor has done.
What a coincidence! I saw the video, too!
People are still doing the "Wow it's almost like we watched the same video!" comment? It's so stupid, the original comment is just to say 'haha this was a funny line' and all the likes are agreeing and it's all pleasant. Your addition, however, is just unoriginal and tiresome.

I love how he says that with such determination, you can tell he means it. Peter Capaldi is SO good!
I wish the writing got better and he'd stayed
And the 1st Doctor's response; Who the hell do you think you are? This show is perfect.

It's nice to see them drop it every now and again, they also did it with the Great Intelligence :)

"Who the hell do you think you are" "The Doctor" *ARM SASS INTENSIFIES* and "Over to you Marry Berry" are two of the reasons 12 is my favourite Doctor
And then 1's line- "C'mon". He's got 12's plan figured out, at least in the broad details.
*"who the hell do you think you are?"*
That line is so underestimated... Almost as much as:
*"To be fair, they cut out all the jokes"*
Man do I love the dichonomy between the 1st and 12th Doctors.
It really goes to show just how much things had changed overtime for The Doctor as a person who started off exploring the universe as a curiosity to becoming someone who goes around doing so with the intent to save people along the way where he can. Even if it forces him to do things he doesn't like.
And the 1st Doctor's frightened reaction really hits home when you know what's in his future.
I really wish we had more of those self reflective moments with 1 and 12 contrasting the differences between where they were in the past, where 12 was now (wondering whether or not to live or die as he is) and where he would be going (Wherever Captain Chibbers and the 13th Doctor are taking the show for Series 11)
Ah well, still love the episode despite some of the "All ladies are made of glass" moments from the 1st Doctor.
It also somewhat solves the problem of how the equations happend back when 1 was around in matt smiths finales

1:27 You can tell by the expression on the 1st Doctor's face that he cannot believe what his future holds.
Which he then immediately drops and doesn't give the matter a second thought in order to escape.
But he already saw all of that in the Vortex. But he can't remember it. Not all at the same time. And he hides from it.
He was reminded of what he already knows. And tries not to remember.

The Dragon Historian, yeah, awesome!
Well, I think this is properly the Majestic Tale (of a Madman in a Box), not I am the Doctor.
Serge Kent, the theme used here is a variation of I Am The Doctor. The Majestic Tale theme in itself is a variation of the I Am The Doctor theme. They're all really one in the same to me.

"The Doctor!" *Poses*
An iconic moment.
"When you began all those year ago, sailing off to see the universe. Did you ever think you'd become this?"
I loved how they acknowledged how the TARDIS exterior has changed over the years, and how Bill thought 12s TARDIS is the right shape.
and also Billy Shipton in Blink noticed the same thing (crafty Moffat and his character names)
"It is possible *and* it is happening." Loved that line

War changes men, especially the Doctor.
Surprisingly, violence was always a concern even for Old Who
Violence was pretty recurrent in the old/classic series as well, it just wasn't as overblown. Resurrection of The Daleks has a ridiculous body count for instance.
I love Bill's face at 1:10 I like how happy she is to see how badass The Doctor is.
This is my favorite scene In Twice Upon a Time.
that part actually bothers me. she's happy to see what is basically a monster. if you laugh at the doctor's life where they've taken out all the jokes, you ain't right in the head
@@ramsesbams Which is one of the few dead giveaways that this isn't really Bill.
@@DoctorWhoKage yeah she is she’s just memories tho ain’t she

Whether that is a good interpretation for her to have is certainly up for debate but most of The Doctor's companions do tend to have a lot of faith in his inherent goodness.

love the use of I Am The Doctor in this sequence, super satisfying to hear it come back and fits the scene so well. chills!
Except this isn't I am the Doctor.
I like that they all had different reactions. The captain was confused, Bill thought it was cool, 1 was terrified, and 12 looked ashamed
The beautiful mix of all of the Doctor's newer theme song pieces was gorgeous. Starts off with 12's theme, transitions into 10's, and then moves into a bombastic version of 11's I am the Doctor. So good!
I heard 11's and 12's, but in which minute sounds 10's?
0:20 Can we stop to appreciate how beautiful this one moment is, just like aesthetically.

What a perfect scene..
It's just esoteric fan service. Recycling old footage and a long list of random references to make fans squeal. They do this every series. Along with shoe horning their own ill fitting storylines like the War Doctor who came and went in 1 episode, to try and emphasise that it's all "canon". -1 to series 11 HYPPEEEEEEE
Love how "I am the Doctor" starts right when 1 says that he is the doctor
I think Bill's face during that whole Doctor of War bit is all of our faces: for as much as we know that the Doctor has left death and destruction in his wake, he never started or asked for those fights and he leaves behind just as much life behind him too. It's easy for him to be labeled a villain and a monster, mostly because he himself doesn't see himself as a hero, but we all know he is.
Ever since Earthshock, the Doctor has never been able to see himself as a hero in any way, shape, or Form, again. Earthshock changed Everything!

I think they are making the First Doctor out to be a bit more innocent than he was. Let’s not forget that the first time we see him in the first ever episode he attempts to imprison two completely innocent teachers indefinitely and only doesn’t because Susan talks him out of it; he kidnaps them instead.
He also almost killed a guy with a rock
Yeah the first Doctor was especley at the beginning a bit ruff around the edges. In the original pilot he was even worse
He was definitely more rougher in his first incarnation but I bet he definitely never imagined himself as this hero that has taken down hundreds of species with an indestructible reputation that can put fear in an entire army with just his name. His original plan was to just chill out and enjoy the universe with his granddaughter after all.
The camerman thats followed the doctor throughout eternity doesnt have enough credit
I don't know if its just me but any time they show past doctors more specifically 11 and use his score I get goosebumps
