    My respect for Dr. Hoodbhoy increases each time I watch him on screen or reads erudite articles. In this particular video, first of all I admire his ability to explain complex concepts in physics with great lucidity in Urdu addressing a fairly common people. Even more, his respect for audience is truly noteworthy. He clearly respected them and gave his best despite the small number assembled, despite their age or their level academic preparation. That is the true test of a good teacher. Thanks for your great service to field of education, science and human values.

    Not many know that S Chandrasekhar was the nephew of Sir C.V Raman a.k.a (Chandrasekhar Venkat Raman) , who was a noble prize winner in physics too. The Raman effect is named after him.

    As an 18 year old in Delhi, I fell in love with cosmology and quantum physics but the (cruel) hands of fate landed me as a cardiologist in New York. Now as I near retirement, it is so exciting to rekindle that passion in none other than Urdu, the language of my childhood that like physics had fallen waste from disuse. Thank you professor ji!

      Look how many Pakistanis are interested in science!!!! And looks like some people were brought just for show up. It also reflect in comments, most of comments are from Indians.
      Islamists created readical society, soon Pakistan will be in combined position Afghanistan+ srilanka.

    • @tmk5
      @tmk5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamupamIn There is another reason other than that. Dr. Hoodbhoy has indulge also in religious and social controversial statements. It is unfortunate here in Pakistan that our scientists become involved in political and social issues.
      And also they haven't properly advertised . Otherwise more people would be interested in the lectures.
      Yesterday's Dr. Sahab lecture on Darwin is probably not to teach Darwanism or biological evolution , as it is purely a field of biologists , but Doctor Sahab just wanted to incite the controversy. A much better way to teach evolution.

      @@tmk5 if society has issue then when someone try to correct it, he is not allowed ???? Same happened with Galileo. Even if he is wrong there is freedom of speech or different views. Have a look at us, even though Dr. Kalam came from Minority he was made president by a party which is called Hindu Party.(but actually that party is patriot) and so called pro minority parties (who do applusememt of Islamistst ) removed from him as a president when they came in power. In India minorities have more rights and flourish, Look at your minorities raped & converted or killed by false blasphemy.

      @@SamupamIn The scientists must refrain from politics and religious controversies. Dr. Kalam made President. In India usually Presidents were chosen from the minorities in the past.
      What I personally as a student of science believe that scientists involved in destructive things must not be respected a lot. Otherwise Dr. Hoodbhoy is a highly respected person in Pakistan. He was HOD of the largest and best university in this country.
      Making nuclear weapons is not a very difficult thing nowadays.

    The one thing that comes out from these superb lectures is that any scientist howsoever renowned he or she is today has his or her share of struggles where their findings and theorems were doubted and refuted. However, they believed in their ideas and in the scientific truth and that is why they won over their non-believers.

    Late Dr Chandrasekhar was born in Lahore, India (19-10-1910) in a Hindu Tamil family and was a nephew of another Nobel laureate Late Dr CV Raman ( a Hindu Tamil)....it is unfortunate that Lahore which was a place of birth of so many Hindu and Sikhs renound families collapsed along with their legacies after Pakistan was created. No one recognises the contributions of Hindu and Sikhs back then and most Pakistani population are not aware about these facts and personalities. False history has caused more damage to Pakistan than the horrific results of partition on religious sidelines. 90% of Indians know about our great heroes from all religions and domains irrespective of whether they were born in any part of undivided India. Since Pakistan don't have their own indigenous history, unfortunately their heroes are either Afganistan born( Gazni Ghori Abdali) or Turkish or Central Asian or Arab born). Bitter but truth. Till they don't recognise the true history viz a viz with India ( whether they like it or not) the scientific and traditional temper will not bloom. It is said that a nation or her people if ignore their true origin and history they are bound to collapse because their role models do impact their destiny sooner or later.

      Hood is the name of Prophet of (Islam) on the same scale of sanctity as Prophet Muhammad,hence Prof. Hoodhbhoy.Unfortunately, Mullahism distorted even basic Laws of Science, Physics,with deliberate ignorance, and hate, which their empty skull fails to square. Mullahs will starve and become homeless, people would never buy their taweez. Repossess the land where mosques are built, illegally. Grow food for the starving populace. Sadly, this will never happen on a global scale. There is a universal clash between Christianity, dogmatic Islam, and Judaism spanning over several millennia. A stone and feather were dropped from the leaning tower of Pisa to demonstrate not only gravity but also aerodynamics, turbulence,forces acting on airplanes in flight, derived later. But scientists of medieval ages were tortured, killed , yet honoured, posthumously. Present-day scientists have the luxury of standing on their shoulders to claim Nobel Prizes.No one has come up with a comprehensive Biographical Encyclopedia for all the scientists,experimenters, physicists, chemists, and mathematicians, among others.People like HoodBhoy is not granted that honour but sacked from Professorship. Happily, he still Loves Pakistan. He deserves resounding applause from all including the voiceless. A case study for X-PM Imran Khan to ponder over, just in time. His rosary is no hotline to the Almighty.

    The audience bewilders me. They seem to be random handpicked people. What is the series about? These are certainly not classroom lectures.

      The sad reality is that it seems to be impossible to get a sizable audience for these kinds of topics in Pakistan. The general public is least interested. Dr Hoodbhoy is an intellectual giant among dwarfs.
