I'm a senior class 21' kinda scare about college essay, like I dont know where and how to start. My body is shaking and I trying to apply for NYU, but I haven't start thinking about other college so NYU is the only good college I seen so far.
my advice is to do some research on NYU and figure out how you would fit in here and write about that. this year is definitely going to be very different and I can't imagine how hard it is applying to college during COVID but college admissions officers are humans too and they understand how stressful it must be right now. hope that helps a little. good luck with your application!
literally I’m a senior rn too and I have felt so lost during the entire admissions process. I just applied RD for NYU and I didn’t know what to do for my common app so I just wrote about my major lmao
insightful video, you sound like a prodigy! i have a question about my chances i'm aiming for Tisch Drama because i want to do voice acting and especially musical theater for a living. but i'm not nearly as experienced as you. i only joined school theater this junior year because that was when i discovered it's my passion. by the time i turn in my application this november, i would have only done 3 productions while working on my 4th. i haven't been in chorus since 6th grade, and after auditioning i'll be in Concert Choir GT rather than Chamber choir. i will definitely be in Thespian Society at least, and hopefully join this selective theater youth group outside of school. my parents can't afford to really put me in workshops, and i'm worried we won't afford a vocal coach. we immigrated to the US from Peru when i was 2 and my parents are working class. the skills i've been building throughout my life have been mostly on the internet teaching myself whatever i want. so when i discovered musical theater and became hyperfixated on it, i binged tons of videos on it all the time and practiced certain songs. always catching up do i have a chance at NYU Drama?

I’m freshman in high school and looking into applying for NYU my senior year. How important would you say my grades are in regards to getting in? What did your grades look like throughout your four years? What other extra curriculares do they look for?
Hey Karen! It's great that you're already doing research so early. My grades in high school were pretty consistent with an average in the low 90s. Depending on your program, grades might be more or less important. For me, since I'm doing music, my portfolio and extracurriculars were way more important than my grades. In terms of extracurriculars, I'd just say do things that truly interest you. High school and even college is a time to explore yourself so don't be afraid to branch out and try different things.

as long as you've done everything you can within your circumstances and your resources to create your best work, that's what NYU will be looking for
