Omg this is crazy! I’m applying for college soon and I was thinking about majoring in music business, this video came at the right time! I’m so glad it was recommended 💕💕
In my view anything related to business major is super amazing! Either a pure professional business administration degree (this is what I'm doing) or a more specialized and specified degree in Music Business or maybe Fashion Business!

thank you so much for making this video and sharing it here! I was considering music business before coming here and now have a much better idea if I want to go into music business or not. the structure of this video is clear and the explanations of the courses are super useful.

Hi Lillian. I’m Jerry, a music producer from LA based in Beijing. Really appreciate what you are doing and the information you share with great detail.
I graduated from music performance degree and Im interested to pursue my master in music business. Thank you for your clear information and brief about it.

I'm loving your videos! You talked about networking and how hard it was in college, but when you joined Spotify you did a lot, you could do a video about how to improve those skills.
I loved hearing your story! I also went to school for music tech (kinda related, I guess), but now my work is split between audio/visual tech at a megachurch and Chinese language content for my TH-cam. You mentioned you're international from Taiwan... how is your English SO GOOD??
This is great info! I just have a question for this, so you need to know music theory or how to play an instrument to get into the music business major?
Thank you for your valuable sharing! I am a high school student in the sophomore year and may apply for music business program for my undergraduate study. So, I want to do some extracurricular during my high school. But I don’t know what should I do, can you please share some of your experience about the things (extracurricular etc.) you did in high school, that will help me a lot! Thank you!
I wish I knew about this 20 years ago.. this was what I was leaning towards to.. Music and Business. But the opportunities are limited indeed. Well, I end up in real estate full time and music on the side, after spending decades in music .. all still works out eventually =P . Thanks for sharing and all the best to your endeavours!
I got to speak with the president of the Music Business Program at NYU Steinhardt for work. Nice dude and very nice program, definitely a lot to learn there! That shady bar looks like the Bossa Nova Civic Club where I DJ'd not too long ago. I didn't think it was that shady :P Nice folks there
Thank you so much for sharing the info! I find them really useful. I have a question: I am also an international student who have great passion to the music industry. But unfortunately my application to the major music business at nyu was turned down. So I am wondering if it is easier for me to apply the major as a transfer student?
Interesting to know that you pursue this unique.Do you play any musical instrument? I am from Singapore.watching all the web development and dtat analyst courses for a mid career switch.
is the music business degree worth it? | career outcomes (NYU Music Business) The value of a music business degree ultimately depends on an individual's career goals and aspirations. While a degree in music business can provide students with a solid foundation in the industry's legal, financial, and marketing aspects, it's essential to consider the specific career paths one intends to pursue. For those interested in working in record labels, publishing, or music management, a music business degree can be a significant advantage in securing employment. It provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of the music industry and stand out in a competitive job market. However, for those looking to become musicians or performers, a music business degree may not be as crucial. While a strong business acumen can certainly help in managing one's career, it's essential to prioritize developing one's musical abilities and networking within the industry. Ultimately, the decision to pursue a music business degree should be based on a thorough evaluation of one's career objectives and the specific opportunities available in their desired field. It's always recommended to research the career outcomes of graduates from the program and speak with alumni to gain a better understanding of the degree's value.
For someone in analytics, it would have been helpful to potential students had you provided some analytics in your final verdict... no? The hideous truth is that many of these job outcomes that you talked about lead to unsustainable salaries for the student debt that's taken on (45000$/y vs the 280 000$ debt you mention). Even with minimal interest rates, I don't see how anyone can get out of that debt trap without suffering from a rational and constant anxiety for years if not decades to come.
She said she spent 280K. She did not say she has 280K of student debt. It could be that her parents paid her tuition. She does not look stressed to me.
@@Bobxchen333 i bet the 280k doesn’t include a personal finance class. Yikes! My cousin has a similar job as hers and spent 30k going to community college then UCLA for 2 years. The OP is right there is no financial analytics or ROI in this video to say if it’s worth it or not.
@YT Flava Student loan payment usually starts in about six months after graduation. Since she graduated in 2019 it is possible that there is a pause on student loan payment because of Covid. Anyway it is not 5 years.
Well she's pretty happy with her decision and she's talking about her life experience. If someone wants to go in blindly without researching their career themselves, it is not her fault.
@@PritamDas_26 LOL not even close, she's a business analyst, not a software engineer. Even if she was a software engineer, when you consider NY rent, it would probably take closer to 5 years
University does not depend on being signed by a label and cannot in any way guarantee that. Instead it would prepare you to work within the music label.
