- Coheed and Cambria Black card performance on Aug 20 in Memphis, TN. Star Cecil, an unknown to ones who haven't gotten their hands on some shabutie takes. But, It was an amazing performance. The show was one of the best ever. Good times.

I was standing right behind the guy taking the video at that show....it was probably the most beautiful thing i've ever heard in my life
He didn't seem very happy before playing the song, but damn that is probably the best sounding version of this song. So beautiful.
He certainly appeared to be bothered by the dumbfucks in the crowd asking about the "green lantern ring."
I love this version so much because 1. all the fans are quiet and in awe as I would be if I saw this live. 2. The girl in the beginning right before Claudio starts singing that says "Star Fucking Cecil!" It makes me happy inside.
Man, I wish I would have been there. But watching this video, I swear the world faded around me, I just got so sucked into the performance, felt like I was right there, thanks so much for posting this. This song is just so incredible. From what I understand he hates performing this song, seems like it was a really painful time in his life dealing with Nikki, it shows, the emotion is so raw, it's captivating. Truly one of the greatest songwriters and performers of today.

I recently stumbled across a couple Shabutie EPs and to discover this just made my day! So cool to hear Claudio perform it with his "man" voice and acoustic. He just can't seem to write a bad song. Thanks for the upload!

Claudio is so talented! The emotion I feel is inexplicable, Claudio’s sound and creative ability is why He/ Co&Ca / PFI will always be my favorite music! I never stray far and always come back! I absolutely love looking back and watching and hearing how he has developed over time..This piece is beautiful!

What I wouldn't do for a modern recording of this. Strung Short and a couple of the others as well, but this is by far the one that most needs revisiting.
This piece should never have stayed in Claudio's rear view mirror. Idk if there was a rights issue of some sort with the other Shabutie members, but man, if Claudio made a new recording of this happen... would be the absolute, ultimate fan treat.

man i was at this... had no idea there was a video. so awesome... wish hed have hit the high note on the "maybe" part but still a 10/10... i was 24 when i saw this with my mom. was a great night.

I was there! I was so happy to be so close and to hear something from the Shabutie days was just icing on the cake. I'll never forget it and he still sounded amazing. I didn't think him feeling sick changed his amazing sound. Thanks again @sghiotto for lending the black card to my buddy. :)

This song reminds of my early twenties, It was one of those songs that I fell in love to, and I still think of Nauraushaun, and I get that feeling in my stomach that adolescent love, you can almost still feel it.
shakezulla86 oh man Nauraushaun. people just have no idea. and the first ever live performance early leak of mother superior before the lyrics were finished. I have a hard time finding any relatable material that moves me like those two .mp3's do. the closest thing would be maybe some rare unreleased AFI songs.
Yeah man, I can't find anything online that has the old videos of bootleg Mother Superior, the closest is maybe going on Cobaltandcalcium the fan site and going through the old forums and trying to find links, but I'm sure their all gone by now.

Of course when I go back there five minutes later, he's long gone, but at least I got to meet Mic, Travis, and Chris. All awesome guys!

I wonder if they still perform Shabutie on a whim or if they take requests. I have yet to see them live
I've seen them 7 or 8 times and never heard them play Shabutie. I've seen them since the early day (around the time IKSSE3 came out, right before or after, don't realy remember but i know when I first saw them in concert it was already out). I love Coheed so much, Shabutie as well, but the one downside to CoCa (an upside as well), is that they have such a large discography (including their covers, alternate versions of songs like acoustics, bsides and original tracks like Deranged from Batman Arkham City, that it's nearly impossible to hear everything they've got live. I missed Neverender SSTB which sucks so much because one song I've ALWAYs wanted to hear live is God Send Conspirator but even though I saw them when they played plenty SSTB, never got to hear that song, and it's one of my favorites. But I'd love to hear Shabutie, and any other songs that they cover, or originals, remixes (I love the Acoustic versions of Junesong Provision and A Favor House Atlantic). I love a lot of their Acoustic songs but those stick out because they are so different and the lyrics are changed a bit. Goddamn Claudio and Coheed are just so damn original and amazing. Too much great things to hear. I still find songs I've never hear them do here and there and I've been listening to them since 2002/3, kinda crazy.

it's a 'taylor' guitar.. sounds way better than my 'Martin'. Also use strings like 'elixer' that have a protective coating. the scratching sound comes from the ridges on the strings, if you notice, your high b & e strings don't scratch due to not being wound like the others.
