    5 long years ha! Sounds and looks amazing man, seems like a keeper. Every old dumpster guitar that i restored sounded great after many hours of love and effort put in it, like it's somehow grateful for the work being done. So that's a way of putting things into perspective: It's still a '67 335 and you saved it, gave it a purpose and made it like it once was. Just like that tornado goldtop that Jared plays.

    Nice, a “players grade” vintage guitar meant for use and not just collecting to sell.
    You don’t need validation from a bunch of strangers on TH-cam 😂 congrats and enjoy- sounds amazing

    What’s that blues solo from? Incredible playing, really classy stuff…reminds me of Bonamassa a bit, especially some of the phrasing. Been trying to play his Ballad of John Henry solo from Live at Red Rocks and it’s totally got the better of me. Guy is a monster player.

    Many moons ago I bought a walnut bodied Epiphone Dot for buttons. Got someone smarter than me to fit Dimarzio EJ Custom pickups, new tuners, loom and a bone nut. Does that make it a fake Dot? That guitar looks a million bucks mate. Seen Luther Dickinson play one very similar many times, and it is a tone machine. Keef has one too! Enjoy your new toy, mate. Great find. Love the playing too.

    Finally some nice clean tones from ES Gibson. Dunno why, so much videos doing only "amp about to explode" tones with these.

    Define fake? If you bought a BMW and replaced the engine, would that be fake? People customise guitars all the time, this is a genuine Gibson, imo.

      @@PedalPawn not a problem. I put it like this, if you were old enough to have owned it from new, you wouldn’t throw it away if the neck got damaged beyond repair, surely?

  • @Shoevette
    @Shoevette 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The distinction will be important only if you sell it. You get to enjoy it for what it is and what made it iconic in the first place. But collectibility is a different animal. As long as there is full disclosure from here forward (including owners down the line -- where it gets murky with each successive owner), there is no harm.

    The Gentleman did incredible work on your Guitar. The most important aspect; are you happy with the guitar? That’s all that matters. You bought it to play, and you certainly play well👍. My belief is now you have a Modified Restoration of an original 1967 Gibson ES 335. IMHO.
    ENJOY!⭐️⭐️🎸⭐️⭐️

    I think as it has the non-oem Gibson headstock it is boarder line. If the old original headstock was spliced onto a new neck that would be fine however you did not have this. The safest thing to have done would be to have a blank headstock fitted. However as I assume you are not selling it you can enjoy it for what it is.

    • @PedalPawn
      @PedalPawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would’ve been a good shout as well, definitely not looking to sell this anytime soon so that’s cool 🎸🤗

  • @paulmatulevich3623
    @paulmatulevich3623 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd think of it as a percentage. You might think more about it from the perspective of it being a set neck but when you look at Strat's that sort of parts swap is parr for the course. Depends how pedantic someone wants to be

    It's not a fake. A fake is an imitation set out to fool someone that's it's the real thing. This is an extensive restoration with a new neck. So it's just a restoration not a fake👍

    That sounds nice and chewy. $1000 for a '67 is one hell of a steal. As far as the neck goes, it was needing a new one anyway. I see no difference in that guy making one for it then if you sent it to Gibson to have them make a new neck.

    If it was my guitar, I'd have had the luthier emboss "Neck replaced 2022" on the back of the headstock. That would have made it a legit '67 with a scar. I happen to be a '67 myself, with a few scars and a few pieces missing, and that's OK. We've been around for 55 years, things happen. This one thoug, well it is now a '67 with a hidden trauma, so to speak. Personally, that would bother me, if it was my guitar or if I had done the repair.
