Really like the way you broke this down Craig and gradually increased the complexity. I'd love to see the vid that you hinted you might do "Bandsaws for Wood turning"

Great video. I realize this is taken from a live video, but you did a great job of combining lecture with example.

Lovely video Craig. I haven't been very successful in the past but some good pointers for future attempts. I have the AT2552B Bandsaw so very informative

Sure would have been extremely helpful if you would have provided a chapter table of contents with a video this long.

Very impressed with that, mine seems to wander off everywhere when I cut anything thick! Got a finer tooth blade on at moment though

It is not “All in the blade”. It is also in the feed speed.

whilst watching and listening to the video i was also shopping for the blade quoted as being a good one to get. I could not find the one mentioned a 93"x 1/2" skip tooth. ended getting a 3tpi instead

Obviously no one at axminster tools does like to answer my questions. May be something was unclear.
Settings of my bandsaw are correct according to the producers guideline / manual.
However often my cuts aren't straight. Especially when cutting thick material of 15 -20 cm cuts get waved. Even with very low feed. Bandsaw parameters are correct. Tension adjusted , Blade and table are right angle....
    Once again:
    1. You recommend 10 teeth within the wood profile. Respecting your other recommendation >>3 TPI for timber cutting (along the fibre) you could reach a maximum height of 3,33 Inch or 8,46 cm. This appears rather poor to me. So one would not be able to saw logs.
Therefore: What is the recommended Saw Blade Dimension for log cutting of 10 -12 Inch Diameter?
By the way offers for 3 TPI blades aren't very common.
    2. On the other hand you show log cutting within your video at timestamp 1:03:17, with a blade that is more than 3TPI. Maybe 6 or whatever.
So you don't follow your own advice, 3 TPI??
But for me it looks like that shavings do not impede that blade that much...

Great demo. Can you offer your thoughts on cutting bow stave in half down their length. They are usually about 2 metres long and from the triangular rift sawn section of a log cut. I normally split them out of a log, so not flat edged or 90° cuts.

Hi Warren, the following reply is from Craig - "I think I know what you mean! I would use a 1/2" x 6TPI blade for this, it will stay straight but wont have a very coarse tooth, so will leave a reasonable finish. Remember to try to get a good straight and flat edge to run on the table to start with."

I'm rather impressed about your demonstration, especially your tips for choosing the blade parameters and jig using. Nevertheless I got some questions, perhaps some misunderstanding:
    1. You recommand 10 teeth within the wood profile not more. Respecting your recommendation 3 TPI for timber cutting (with the fibre) you'd reach a maximum height of 3,33 Inch or 8,46 cm. This appears rather poor to me. So one would not be able to saw logs.
    2. On the other hand you show log cutting within your video at timestamp 1:03:17, with a blade that is more than 3TPI. Maybe 6 or whatever.
For me it looks ike that shavings do not impede that blade that much...
I got a Record Power Sabre 350. And I hope to be able cutting logs of 10 Inch diameter (Wild cherry tree)
Disclaimer: I'm a German guy. So excuse me if not using correct idiomatic English.

Hi Wolfgang Fath, the following reply is from Craig - "Thanks for the question.
On all cutting during the video I used a 3TPI Skip tooth blade, which I find the best for deep ripping both in logs and planks. The 2 tooth minimum & the 10 tooth maximum is a rough guide but if you slow down the feed rate a little the waste is cleared well enough as the skip tooth shape will help with this.
      I hope this helps."
