    This is the thing about baseball that I love. You can watch it for 50+ years (like I have) and still see things you've never seen before on a fairly regular basis!

    • @alanhess9306
      @alanhess9306 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, that is not true. It depends on the situation. In this video the runner did not interfere with a play, so there is no interference.
      If you are standing on second base and a batted ball hits you, you are out.

    The editing on all these videos is horrendous - can't tell what the result is for half of the plays

  • @shannonmcstormy5021
    @shannonmcstormy5021 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a weird question......sometimes when I see players, both offense and defense, trip, a clod of turf flies into the air. It appears as if the turf gave way, tripping the player. If this is the case, isn't the "error" the environment? Or doesn't it matter what caused the player to trip? (And shouldn't such a thing be fixed?)

    • @UsaSatsui
      @UsaSatsui ปีที่แล้ว

      The key thing to look at is if an average player would have made the play with ordinary effort. A fielder slipping on loose turf while chasing down a ball may or may not be an error, it depends on whether or not the scorer thinks said hypothetical average player would have also slipped in that situation (is the weather wet, is the turf slippery, is it just in terrible shape, etc...). It may have been out of his control, but life's not fair, he would still get an error. Note that even if the player trips because he's clumsy, the scorer might still rule he couldn't have made a play with ordinary effort and not score an error.
      Offensive players don't get charged with errors.

      Mariners apparently worked hard with Eugenio Suarez on his baserunning. He'll never be a speed merchant...but for the most part is now staying upright on the basepaths. Defensively Geno is excellent at the hot corner.
