    Thanks for this video. I am a 75 year old resident PA deer hunter who can no longer hunt because of a stroke in 2014. I can live again thru your efforts of filming and the hunt. I miss it dearly! God Bless you and your crew for showing off my PA Outdoors! Lt Col Doug Robison, USAF Ret/ Capt. UAL Ret.

    My favorite deer hunting vids. Real hunters who really love what they do, going after regular bucks that don't have names and four year photo histories.

    • @HillTrekkerSarge
      @HillTrekkerSarge 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      ditto x10....no feeders or fences, no pet deer with names
      I've done my share of public land hunting...you gotta work to kill deer consistently
      literally anyone can shoot a deer over bait

      Love these show, but spare me the BS. Just because some of us don’t hunt like these guys, doesn’t mean we’re less passionate about hunting.
      I hunt private land and work my ass off for every buck I have. Matter of fact, all of the bucks I have wasn’t even taken anywhere near the feeders.
      There’s more than one way to skin a cat. So get your noses out from the clouds. You’re not better than me as a hunter because “you put more work in”. I work my ass off for every deer I’ve taken and I do it all legally and ethically, with low or no fences.

    • @JK-cv9jf
      @JK-cv9jf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@carlosopinion5629 Unless you have a large piece of private land where your bucks live most of their life, and you have four year histories and names for all the Boone & Crockett bucks on your property, this comment wasn't aimed at you. Think we've all seen the shows and know what I'm referring to.

    • @carlosopinion5629
      @carlosopinion5629 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JK-cv9jf Fair enough. And yes, I know exactly what you’re referring to and I do agree on a lot of levels. But even high fence has there place. Simply put, I don’t judge other hunters on where and how they hunt. I’m sure everyone has their reasons. And it’s not my place to criticize or belittle another hunter because I don’t feel like he’s worthy.
      My only requirement is that you do it legally and ethically. And if you pass down our values to the younger generation, all the better.
      But at the end of the day, we all share the same passion for these animals and the outdoors.
      It just pains me when I see certain negative comments from the community. This crap happens in the gun community too. You’ll always have a group of folks that think they’re better than everyone else.
      Just sayin’....

    • @JK-cv9jf
      @JK-cv9jf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@carlosopinion5629 We hunt 600 acres, have many cameras and food plots. I still get shut out on decent bucks some years even though I'm a fanatical hunter. But the few times I've ventured into heavily hunted public land, I've had a hard time even finding deer, much less finding a nice buck. Any one who hunts ethically is OK in my book, but a hunter who can consistently find shooter bucks on public land is a step above my level. Kind of like a weekend golfer can admire Dustin Johnson's game while still enjoying regular golf.

    Congratulations to Joe and Zach on their PA bucks. I like these Public Land Challenge collabs where we get to see and learn different styles and see them be successful. I thought that guy was pheasant or grouse hunting, but here he was jumping puddle ducks. Way to adapt and overcome that situation.
    I hunt from the ground since we don't own much property and I like being down there with them, I want a tree saddle eventually for certain situations. But mostly from the ground. I am glad that deer was recovered, very rare to see one get shot full frontal. Thanks for sharing.

    Congrats on a nice PA buck. Ive hunted Pa for 20 years now and that is a real nice PA buck. We do have bigger bucks and since the restrictions were put in place, we do see better bucks but not every piece or farm will have big bucks on them. They are around tho. And speaking of the pressure on public land. Hunter numbers are way down in PA. You really dont see almost any hunters until the early muzzleloader season comes in, thats when most of the pressure comes in PA. I can remember 10 to 15 years ago counting 100's of cars on public land roads. Its not even close to that anymore. If you guys come back to Pa again, i would suggest coming before that early muzzleloader comes in or after it ends. I usually dont see anyone until then. Goodluck the rest of the deer tour!

    The hunting in PA has gotten so much better over the past 4 years or so. The amount of big bucks I have gotten on camera over those years has greatly improved. I've gone from getting 8 points as my big bucks on camera to it not being uncommon to get big 12s on camera. Last year I got about 3 or 4 10s and 2 or 3 12s. Pa is quickly becoming a big buck state with thousands of acres of public land

  • @PennsylvaniaSasquatch

    Best video on bowhunting PA public land whitetails that I've ever seen. Love the transition from treestands to groundblinds to hunting close to parking areas for overlooked spots. But nothing perked my attention more than seeing that big old mature buck come in close by
    calling done by Dan and Joe at the end of the video. That got my heart rate up just from watching it on the screen!
    Also, Congrats to Zach for becoming the ground hunting whitetail wizard that he has become. Zach needs to write a book on his ground hunting tactics. That's a niche in the hunting genre that has been overlooked and badly needs to be expounded upon.
    That hunt where Joe and Dan skickly moved into an overlooked spot near a parking /road area is truly also whitetail savy at it's best. My only public land whitetail buck to date was taken under the exact same scenario /conditions. Roads mean nothing to whitetails; but seem to mean everything to us.

    Its nice to see you guys hunting PA. I’ve been going there from Maine for archery season the past 25 years. When a biologist worked to change to antler restrictions many years ago people almost ran him out of the state. Now he’s a hero with some great bucks available and fewer button bucks being killed. In the right circumstances; restrictions work. Great public land available and I’m fortunate to have several landowners give me the privilege to hunt their property.

    This deer Zach killed reminds me of the last deer I killed with a bow several years ago. I got one lung and the liver. I found him in a skidder rut, still alive but unable to get up. He just looked at me. I backed up and sat for over an hour while he died because I had nothing to finish him with. Eventually, he let out a bellow like I have never heard and thrashed around for about 10 seconds. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I just didn’t want to bow hunt anymore. In fact, I just stopped deer hunting for several years. I still hunted turkeys, but I just didn’t care for that feeling I got from that incident. It eventually passed a few years ago.
