About 10 years ago I decided to try playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game sequel with an English patch, but the patch wasn't actually finished so eventually it went back to Japanese and I got stuck at a trainer who wouldn't let me battle them no matter which dialog option I selected. So I had to start learning some Japanese characters just so I could progress. And I never stopped, so thank you person who didn't finish the patch for being the reason I became bilingual

Funny Pico story. About 3 years ago I pulled up to a Chevron gas station and as I was getting gas, I noticed a Sega pico in the trash can. It was super random. I pulled it out and it had all the wires and 2 storybooks. Took it home, cleaned it up and it worked perfectly. I was blown away. Why would someone throw this away? I sold it on eBay about a month later for $70.

Trading Card Game 2 is also fun because the opponents on the second island have deckbuilding requirements that you have to meet (like having at least four pikachu in your deck, or having only type of energy). It was a welcome change from the first game, where you can just make a single good deck and steamroll everyone with it.

    • @MaxRavenclaw

Just for the record, the Japan exclusive Pokemon Mini games all have fan translations into English available, and emulate quite well. If you're one of the few nerds to actually own one there is a (rather expensive) flash cart to play those translations on the actual console as well, but that flash cart is currently rather hard to get due to parts shortages and they're only being made by a small team.

Imakuni is actually in the TCG game boy games (both of them) and can be dueled in a game of cards. He is typically terrible and the card named after him confuses your own Pokemon. But he rewards you with one of every booster pack in the first one so he was worth finding (would appear randomly).

    • @-IceCat-
      @-IceCat- 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Here is a trick I did to farm him for the packs. 1. Load the game up.
      2. Go check each “gyms” break room/area and he will be at one of the book shelves facing the wall.
      3. Beat him in battle.
      4. After you beat him save and quit. 5. Rinse and repeat.

Fans believe this game could've localized over here, but I had my doubt at the time, due to how smartphones and tablet devices were so popular in the early 2010s, the game might reach a low sale.

Every last part of those games (images, mechanics, sounds, controls, ect) were stored in a barcode/qrcode like system that you scanned to transfer the code into the eReader. What im saying is id like to have seen that pushed to its limits. People are still making nes games to this day just to see how far they can push a 30+ year old system and what they can get out of it. This is the same idea. What is the largest game somone could make using it. Somone literally made a version of doom that runs on a pregnancy test. How has somone not atempted to do somthing similar with ereader.

Why was Pokemon Tretta never mentioned? The arcades are available outside of Japan, sure (but not in the west), but the 3DS accessory was only released in Japan. Also, the arcade game itself is really fun.

      @@FRANZTENDO64Philippines your point?
The Philippines is where I got to
      Play it too.
My point was that while the Tretta machines *did* technically “leave” Japan, as they made it to other Asian countries (seeing as the video title mentions games “that never left Japan”), the accompanying 3DS accessory was only released in Japan, thereby making that particular game/accessory exclusive to Japan. So the 3DS part of it should have made the list.

The first pokemon GBC game also had training mode in the form of repeat battles for free packs at the professors lab with several of his assistants, so idk why it was notable that the GR Dan Sanjou! title had it as well, because it was nothing new, they just gave it it's own menu this time. It was the SAME MECHANIC. Also, ya'll totally failed to mention the Japanese title by name, any references within the game itself, and basically just read the box summary it sounds like. GR stood for "Team Grand Rocket" or "great rocket" and this game was one of the first, if not the first of my cartridges I ever ripped onto a rom as a fresh script kiddie. a whole 2 minutes spent talking about basically nothing of note from 3:15 to 5:30 lol

Excuse me! I take exception to your claim that this is EVERY Pokemon game that never left Japan. What about Pokemon Tretta Lab for the 3DS? Unless I missed something, you completely missed it. It's probably the most fascinating title that never left Japan and you somehow don't even acknowledge it?! It came with the accessory that was only sized for the original 3DS model, and could read your Tretta puck things, these little pog-like things you'd collect for the Tretta arcade game, and could be played with in this 3DS version, where you could analyze 2 of your own Tretta pucks at once and could auto battle. It's really fascinating, and you missed it!
