2012 Silverado SWC steering wheel control programming to Android car stereo from Seicane

  • Video showing need for interface module between 2012 Silverado radio harness and Android car stereo from Seicane in order to use SWC steering wheel controls, and showing programming of keys on Seicane steering wheel keys screen. Used PAC RP5-GM31 interface. Axxess interface should work too. Jumpered radio ACC to orange ACC wire on climate controls just below radio. Don't forget the extra 16 inches of yellow and black wire to add into PAC wire harness if there is a service bulletin flyer in your purchase pack, and lots of shrink sleeve or electrical tape.

    Great vid bud!
Just FYI for others intending to do this....
The interface module is not needed for simple vol+/vol- controls; but for every other function, it is.
This is because the vol+/vol- interface is a simple N/O 5V+ entry (N/O=Normally Open switch). Thus; you "can" run Key 1 and to their respective switches (ie: Key 1 to Positive switch Vol+ and Key 2 to Positive switch Vol-). NOnce you press the Vol button 5V is applied/sensed by the head unit and its respective programmed function will operate.
However; all other controls require a PWM resistance "translation" which is the reason as to why these types of modules are required.
I have also seen issues in "some" GM vehicles in which the installer decided to utilize the harness ground opposed the chassis or e-brake for video playback on the move. I "highly" recommend against doing so as (again in some GM models) this can trigger an On-star fault which results in an Air bag "hard" fault code (ie: can only be reset via a Tech-II programmer/reader once triggered). So; always use an independent grd for this connection (same for back-up cameras if adding one of those)

Thank you! I haven't found the expected SWC wire behaviours defined anywhere else. Hopefully this will help me troubleshoot why my Atoto is not recognizing output from my RP5-GM11

My PAC RP5-GM31 has a relay in the wiring harness for the higher current Accessory out to the Radio that runs off the Yellow wire that is spliced to the other yellow wire you mentioned, Works as it should so maybe your PAC interface is a older model without the ACC relay.

At least on a 2006 and older (not sure about 07+), it's easiest/cheapest to just remove the pins from the BCM and hook them straight to the Android Head unit key wires. Easy peasy and free. I'm not spending $80 on a harness just for this. The BCM pinout is easy to find on google and the connectors are easy to access... Of course this is if you don't want the stupid Onstar active because it removes the button on the steering wheel from the circuit. I prefer to use that button to trigger google assistant anyway LOL

I too went with the rp5gm31. I have an Eonon 2188. They too asked what kind of car. I had a jvc dvd player. The steering wheel controls plugged right in. Everything worked fine. Set on JVC of course. Git this nice new radio. Same exact software as yours. I thought maybe I was programming it wrong. I set my volumes exactly like you did. When I use the steering wheel volume up or down it's like the two are arguing and the volume goes up, down but doesn't go anywhere. I thought the resistance must b so close it couldn't differentiate. I have Alexa Auto too. I just use that to control volume and next song. I don't mind spending time installing something right. I am now set on Pioneer like yourself. PAC recommended that. If you have any ideas what might help please let me know. Thanks

thanks for taking the time to make a video. 2012 chevy impala. I've already installed this harness with a JVC double din. Just ordered an android radio. The Rp5 had a 3.5mm jack that plugged right into the JVC. My steering wheel buttons are the same as your truck. Idk how to wire them to KYE1, KYE2? The harness has been in for a while? Am i forgetting something?

Any help with my 2012 Silverado? I got a pioneer MVH-1400NEX and an Axxess interface. I need to know what colors the steering control wire colors are behind the radio.

Hey there. I have a 2013 Silverado and the same PAC interface. My SWC do not work with the Android radio I bought (Atoto A6) and I didn't fully understand the part at the end about splicing the 12v+ and the ground wire. The video was kind of dark there. Would you mind explaining that part? That may be the missing piece of the puzzle.
