I plan to upgrade my radio to another Pioneer brand, do I need to disconnect my battery to swap to my newer radio? All interface connections have been in place since my first Dual brand aftermarket radio. I will also be sure to check the DIAL on the interface to be sure it reflects Pioneer.

4:32 ughhh.... I was hoping you would talk about the speaker/amp wiring for the ford/mercury pac. My Milan has the factory Sony system with amp in the trunk(?) If I connect the speaker wires from the pac wire harness to my new head unit (Dual) harness, doesn't that mean the signal sent to the Sony factory amp will be speaker, not line level? Which would be bad. ? Unless thats how the factory head unit works, and the Sony amp converts the signal to a lower, constant level. Just guessing.

  • @dabloesco

For the black box model, I have this RP 5GM 11 and I am intending on upgrading the door speakers as soon as I can from the Bose factory unit but currently I have my mono amp and one subwoofer wired in ready to connect to remote, but I don’t know if I should connect the harness as non-amplified or amplified since I’ll be running a separate amp if it’ll be an issue. Obviously when I get my door speakers in for channel, I know I bypass it completely but in the meantime, do I need to bypass so I don’t have interference or will it continue to power the door speakers and everything operate. Unfortunately the paperwork for installing this harness doesn’t really have any diagram or info, so I’m kind of at a wall. All my wires are connected and tied up, ready to go. It looks like, but then I have another harness I don’t even know where I’m supposed to tap into or if I cut it and re-wire but it just doesn’t seem like that it’s I’m all tied in and clean and taped up. It seems like it should be plug and play but I’m afraid to do so right now

Got it done. Worked. Was awesome. Watched this video over and over doing it. I accidentally had the accessory wires soldered in on the wrong side of the rp5. Rehooked them up on the head unit side of the rp5 and harness. I say "wires" cause I also installed one of the parking brake bypass units like you did. Where it automatically sends the signal that the brake is engaged for the two time stamps. It all worked perfect after I rehooked up the amp and parking brake bypass accessory wires to the correct side of the rp5.
