There was a girl who was behind me in school who was very smart, and she was always picked on because of it. She was the nicest person ever. Being a black girl with brains is a detriment in the black community. There is nothing wrong with being smart.
That's a myth imo. I remember a girl that skipped a grade and was put in my class and we all respected her and we were some really bad azz kids. I never knew anyone who got picked on solely because they were smart. More because some smart children can appear awkward.

Fast forward she is now a Bio-medical Engineer and not that she is inspired by all the money she makes because she makes quite a bit she just has a love for science and is trying to inspire other girls to as well.

How do you even know she wants to be the type of doctor who treats patients? Many people go to medical school so they can become *research scientists* and work on finding cures for diseases. The fact that she's earning a masters degree alongside her bachelors shows that she might intend on getting a PhD after medical school (or be in a dual MD/PhD program in medical school). The master's degree is to prepare her for higher-level scholarly research and writing that she will need for a PhD program, and the PhD is a requirement to be a lead medical researcher.

So true. I suffered the same way in school because I love to learn. In Baltimore City. I had to learn to be quick with my jokes and defend myself 😢
