That's me! 0:48:37 G11543. I knew I was in your vicinity because I kept seeing familiar runners especially the suit guy. Excellent video quality. Sorry about your DNF. Thank you for documenting your run
Loved this! I grew up watching the Comrades on TV with my family and it was on my bucket list. After completing 1, I discovered that there was a back to back medal so I had to return and run the opposite direction the following year. I did so but my goal was just to finish. I qualified in D but had planned ahead of time to run with the G and H batch runners, and have a lot of fun. I didn't think about the fact that back of the pack runners have to constantly think about cut off times and adjust the pace accordingly. Like you tried to do in this video. Mad respect to you for wanting to go back. I have no intention of doing a third Comrades, but I continue to watch it on TH-cam and love the perspective of runners like yourself!
Well done Simon 👏🏾 you are a true inspiration 👏🏾. You inspired me to do the Comrades Marathon 2024 through your video (2023 CM). Never give up ❤😊 You'll finish
Thank you, and great to see the route again! Yes, you must invest more in training and even than you could have a bad day! However, if you train bit more than you will reach the finish line! Great video, excellent coverage! I enjoyed it to the fullest. You did well and a pity you did not make the cut off. Try again, I salute and hope to see you next year. Will wait at the finish line.
Thank you for sharing your Comrades video. Love the quality. What camera are you using? Did you carry the camera in your hand, or was it on a selfie stick? I recorded the Comrades Marathon this year using a GoPro Hero12. I mounted it on a selfie stick to get some different angles. The stick helped a lot at the start with the extra height to record the full start sequence. The stick also helped to record video without hearing my very loud breathing!
What a great record of your day out Simon. Thanks for sharing and allowing us dreamers to experience the route and the atmosphere vicariously through you and your brave running kinfolk. I’m inspired to join project #GetAbdulKathySimonToThe2025ComradesFinish 👊🏽 So so close in the end for you 😔 but massive congratulations on lining up despite challenges and on transporting your body and spirit over 80km! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks Francois not quite the result I wanted but happy no the less. Abdul has been injuried and very busy at work but he is back on the road ! No doubt he will make a return to the video's soon. Thanks again.

Great video!
I got cut off at Polly Shortts in 2019. Went back and trained harder. I now boast a Bronze, Robert Mtshali and Vic Clapham medals.
I actually made it 2019, but with a bit more training! Up run is a beast!
