oh absolutely! Cat is one of my favorite ships! having the ability to further customize it and gain some extra capabilities with it would be amazing :)
What's interesting is that one day we'll be able to store missiles on racks, we might actually be able to carry more by placing racks in the bay & just moving them around when needed
yeah i hope so too! i think CIG have hinted at similar things (like manually loading torpedos on the Polaris for example) and its pretty exciting the possibilities that could be on the way!
I can’t help be in love with this ship, in theory. I don’t know anybody that owns one and it’s kind of the only multi crew ship I want to be a crewman on
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to get lots of use out of the firebird! Another amazing video 🎉 Hope the weird targeting gets fixed so you guys can get lots of use out of the modularity of this ship
Citizen Kate nicely done on this video and I found the entire thing enjoyable and I'm looking forward to seeing part two. As for the modularity of the ship and its ability to enter change from each module there is something that you may not be fully aware of or you have not thought about. For example, the module for living quarters is not something that isn't intended for the crew but is actually intended for transporting a high valued VIP who wants to move secretly from one location to the next and would give you a huge reward for doing it by getting them there safely. The drop module could be combined with the cargo module so that the crew in the drop module would have additional ammunition or possibly a bump in the cargo module to take to the intended target. this is why this ship will be very versatile if people think out of the box and try to be a little more creative in using the value of the ship to its up most capable abilities. This is why I have this ship in my fleet because of its versatility and capabilities which will be used for transporting those very rare items from one point to the next in a heavily armored heavily protected vehicle they could pretty much hold its own in a fight.
The workaround for the turrets firing off angle - turn off pilot weapon power (P). Warning that you lose the ability to fire chaff and flares while it's off.
I’m very excited to see modularity finally being implemented into the game, it’ll be super cool to see how it works out with other ships later down the line!
I always enjoy your videos. I bought the Tally base model a long time ago just for the future modularity. I used the loaner torpedo bomber quite a bit. With the gold pass and the modules that came out, I had an empty ship with no real purpose now and worst of all no pilot weapons. So I bought the cargo modules for it but with such a small cargo capacity and no pilot weapons, I still found little use for it unless I wanted to crew it for very tiny cargo runs of maybe valuable cargo. So with a price tag of $185 for all the modules, making the modules cost more than the price I paid for the original ship, I sadly CCU'ed my beloved Tally and melted the two cargo modules to an Ironclad. With that and a little store credit, I got the Ironclad for $185.
Tali is a fantastic looking ship. It's just that the crew requirement for manning guns is comparable to a Polaris. That's probably another key point that hurts it.
No escape pods are functional yet, but a bunch of ships have beds that also double as escape pods with panels on the exterior that are going to open at some point.
The Tali with cargo seems to work well for me it's fast enough and tanks enough. I took off under fire and still got my cargo to the destination. It may not work every time but someone the time is still good. I upgraded my c1 to the Tali and I'm very happy with the choice. As everyone else is thinking I'm getting really excited about the possibility of the caterpiller with modules. Oh and gun slings so you can be in a uniform and carry a weapon stowed.
Seeing you playing around with the modularity is too funny, even it is way too small for anything. I really hope I can find a fun team like you gues at the end of the year. Also I am not sure, that I like the ship with the modules. I love those colored floors, but the rest didnt convince me. Lets hope your second video will convince me more hehe Stay aweseom and have fun!
Best cargo ship in the game! For real though, excited to see what modules we may get down the line. After watching a few retaliator videos I couldn’t resist buying myself one 😂
A Cutty started shooting at my cargo Tali at an outpost. With it being empty and having no pilot guns I got a little red behind the ears and challenged the perp to land and fistfight me on the ground. It turned out to be an NPC so I took off and left it at full throttle and hopped into my top turret and killed him. Great video.
You do have the advantage of a higher lvl radar in 3.23.x, now that radars do have different range based on the level, so you can spot sniper or bomb stealth builds before they get too close
interesting to see the modularity coming. kind of a weird way to implement it though. thought it was going to be more of a tactile plug and play. like with shipping containers.
When I watch the different features your inspecting, a thought came to mind. What about space mines? I remember reading a halo book, I think it was ghosts of onix or something where the UNSC prowler ship deployed stealth mines to cause havoc with the Covenant. The thought was whether that would be able to be used during your combat events with other players.
Fu...yeah !!! *Galaxy* i hear you coming...Closer & Closer...Woohooooo...Finally. We wait so long for that Baby Now..Hopefully comes she This Year as well.
Hey Kate, I read that on the PTU 3.23.1a patch there are more updates for the Retaliator, including now size 3 turrets. Any idea if the issues you folks experienced got fixed on the PTU?
I literally have the original vanguard modules. Not sure if they will just disappear them, sell them back to me, or replace them with the new versions when they come up with them.
I am hoping this comes to the Carrack soon. Modularity will really make ships a home away from home in due time. As they could really make all manner of modules. Recreation, science, medicine, etc. Possibilities are endless when a ship can have modularity.
They really need to fix the crazy movement when you move the elevator. Things you place in a ship become sub-part of the ship and move with it. But placing it on the elevator platform should connect them to the elevator instead.
Man, I love these videos. I wish I my friends played the game like this. Sadly they fell out of love with the game ^^ soon tm though they’ll be back hopefully
Can buy the ship in-game but cant buy the modules in-game, nice one CIG. its just an empty hollow shell without any modules unless you have friends and if you do, there is better ships
I hear rumors of a turret buff. Imo, the retaliator is the last ship you'd really want for cargo, but it is a great addition since it's so tanky that you could run into trouble and get out alive Maybe in the future, we can get more dynamic modules that will serve the retaliator better. Source: I own one for ERTs.
I was pretty skeptical of the Retailator being used as a cargo ship, but seeing it take hits from an NPC Cutlass for a solid 2 minutes and coming out mostly unscathed makes it a lot more attractive. I have lost a lot of ships on those very same missions lol
Here's to hoping that C.I.G. doesn't with-hold module-swaps from the in-verse stores for *each* that's made available down the line; those currently flight-ready & those to-be. Especially *after* 1.0, beta or official; relying on such an impeding practice after such a point wouldn't be very stellar when weighing player-base satisfaction w/ financials. Awesome to see the long-discussed features come to fruition, nevertheless.
Still looking forward to the carrack gold standard… it should be able to carry larger cargo boxes; but to manually load them is impossible right now, due to small doorways an no way to load them directly into the cargo bay from outside… the carrack should have deployable modules including openable cargo modules, AND it should have a metal shield that can cover over the cockpit/bridge glass based on the OG concept art, but sadly it seems to have no further progress on the play style it is ment to fill, and theres no way to swap the modules so you cant adapt it to another. The Carrack is in a sad state… being dominated in its current role by the Polaris with no updates on the horizon. The Polaris has a larger hangar, more space and more modularity by the looks of things; while the Carrack seems to be forgotten with the vast features it should have but simply doesn’t. It should have been thinner, and was released chunky with next to none of its vast features working. I love my Carrack, and i will forever, and i hope it gets the love it deserves in the future.
If the retaliator cargo bays are shielded and have that extra climate control that CIG mentioned for sensitive cargo I could see the retaliator for some niche cases. Overall I'm kind of disappointed because the ship really needs to be overhauled because of how out of date the design is. A ship the size should really have a copilot and a large bomber needs to have a Bombardier(there is that engineering station that could be overhauled). When it comes down to it I blame the Hull-A for looking so much better than the Hull-C
I wish they'd do a full rework on it not just bolting on gold features, but I can understand why they didn't, the buttons to open the cargo bay doors are really weirdly placed because they all have to be inside the modules, otherwise a very nice ship.
The ship certainly requires another gold pass look. There are some obvious misses in the Gold Pass. Upper turrets clipping through the frame? Vehicle loading is awkward. O2. Bug when removing helmet. Upper current aim calibration is off. Turrets don't share the ships atmosphere. No landing flood lights. Nice to haves- Faster top speed Medical module Pilot guns Bomb module ( love to see a bomb carousel / or 2 size 10's I per module). Electron warfare module.
This ship being sold as empty instead of cargo by default should be a major issue for the community Fully crewed it’s worse than the pilot DPS on a Corsair as well, the cargo variant should come standard

I mean right now all it’s good for is the 6 torpedoes, it needs 7 crew members to do similar gun dps to the Corsair so if you’re unladen or have the cargo variant it’s a total waste
I hate how pitiful of a state the tali is in right now because I love the idea of it. It SEVERELY needs huge buffs. I hope the next ship with modularity is the Caterpillar, it really needs some love.
And that detachable command pod ;)
oh absolutely! Cat is one of my favorite ships! having the ability to further customize it and gain some extra capabilities with it would be amazing :)
@@Citizen_Kate What modules would you want on the Caterpillar?
Personally I would want a salvage one if they do it, maybe a med bay!
@@VelkaruTheHunterI hope one day I can turn my cati into a bootleg Orion
The Caterpillar really needs the modularity now! With the introduction of the Ironclad, its function as a cargo ship has been severely limited.
actually, I hope the Carrack gets some love... because right now, since the cargo doors don't open - the game has kinda past that ship by.
What's interesting is that one day we'll be able to store missiles on racks, we might actually be able to carry more by placing racks in the bay & just moving them around when needed

Thanks for flying a ship I normally wouldn't even look at.

at 6.23 the upper crew quarter you reffer too is meant to be the escape pod for the crew but i do not believe it is in (wasnt in the prior patch)
oh cool i didnt know that! if so that explains a lot :D
No escape pods are functional yet, but a bunch of ships have beds that also double as escape pods with panels on the exterior that are going to open at some point.
@Citizen_Kate not much has been said about it since the concept. Most multi crew are still lacking on the escape pod game play sadly.
@@gwebby87likely because escape pods rely on modularity like the Caterpillar command module, too?

The Retaliator with cargo is for high value stuff only. It's a gunship first with good protection... ideal for punching through somewhere maybe.

Could be a pretty bad ass blocade runner size 9s for whatever is in front of you, and supplies to deliver in the rear

The Tally was always a weird ship, by layout, to me. Now it's even more weird in layout with the cargo modules
I literally have the original vanguard modules. Not sure if they will just disappear them, sell them back to me, or replace them with the new versions when they come up with them.
The Retaliator is REALLY durable...

Retaliator epitomises everything that's wrong with SC development direction and greed today.
I hate how pitiful of a state the tali is in right now because I love the idea of it. It SEVERELY needs huge buffs. Right now the tali is a complete joke and objectively and VASTLY inferior to running literally any other larger ship + extra escorts for the same crew cost the tali has at max and be better in EVERY single regard.
