liberalism is built upon two ideas: maximum freedom and maximum equality. Both of these ideas are erroneous because human behavior has to be restricted for the greater good therefore negating maximum freedom. Maximum equality is not possible due to differences in knowledge which establishes hierarchy. We’re driven a lot by our emotions as opposed to our logic. That's why life seems chaotic and all over the place. We don't live a logical life full of logical people. Logic is useful for building things but socially it's a crutch because a lot of things people like are subjective. Praying is just admitting that you don't understand everything, it doesn't have to be associated with God.
I found faith in God in the rooms of AA. When I would pray in the morning and have a "let go and let God" attitude, nothing could stop me. In my first 6 months sober I was evicted, had health scares with family, and lost an employment opportunity and I didn't drink. Simply because I was handling all that I could, and let God handle the rest.

Your prayers have been answered by God! More and more proof. God is not ok with all of the evil that is going on right now. He wants his warriors to stand up for truth!! Speak out against all evil! It takes huge courage..

I’ve also prayed for him since he started his TH-cam channel two and a half years ago! He’s a very humble guy. Humble people seem to find the truth. Or does TRUTH find humble people to reveal himself to?
I’ve also been praying for Andrew since I started listening to him. I love his heart to teach and how he deeply appreciates the complexities of the human brain. We are designed to connect with the Spirit of God. Glad to hear his life has improved through prayer. Peace to all. .
I am so encouraged! About a week ago God put this dear man on my heart to pray for him. I am a faithful listener to his podcast. As a Christian, I have always wondered if he believed in God. Wow! God assured me in this video that he’s doing a great work in Andrew Huberman. This scientist is a gift. What a heart! I celebrate where he is on his journey in seeking God. 😊
Yeah same, it’s crazy how gods plans work. I’ve been watching this guy for a while and he’s help me a lot with managing my ADHD. Like he said, some things are not capable of being done on your own. I have tried everything under the sun to help me manage my food and porn addiction but nothing helped. I would just fall into a cycle of falling into sin and then coming back to people like him to feel better about myself with a sense of “I’ll change this time”. 2 months ago I gave my life back to Christ and god has helped me so much. I beat my addictions and going stronger and stronger. It’s amazing that god constantly used Andrew as a means of helping me and hearing that he believes in the power of prayer says so much. I pray Andrew finds his way into Christianity ✝️.
Jesus Christ loves everyone. He died for us all and rose. All you have to do is accept Him as your Lord and Saviour and repent from your sins and He will save you and grant you eternal life in Heaven.
Dr. Andrew Huberman is one of my heroes. The degree to which he’s been able to help myself and others all over the world is nothing short of incredible. Thank you for everything you do.
I am a Geriatrician doctor and I need to say that just listening to this made me cry. Tears of joy. I am praying every morning and I KNOW that there is SOMEONE there listening as my life changed (in good) so much since. There is someone much greater than we are and this is a such a great hope. God bless you Dr Hubermann.
This made me cry as well. The humility in reaching outside of ourselves for help that we all need, for glimpses of a bigger picture... so beautiful, so rich. He is onto something life changing (although it sounds as though he's always had the hunch God just might be listening). I was honoured to hear this conversation.
The Greatest Befriender Physician is still the same yesterday today and forever So it's not clever to live alone forever and Tetelstai was His victory cry from the Cross as He died quickly yet His character and lifestyle besides His identity is true God The Son Jesus the CHRIST once for all sacrifice has been maligned mocked scoffed at, He doesn't want to call your bluff, but He didn't have much stuff, but He was tough, not a wimpy kid. Tough act to follow but don't swallow your pride, just Dai Daley and your Amigo will show you His Ego is perfect!
I'm thankful that Andrew spoke out about his faith in God; especially being in the scientific community. It's so amazing that the creator of all things listens to our prayers and wants us to rely on Him. I got saved four years ago. I was an alcoholic and drug addict for 20 years. The day I excepted Christ all my addictions ceased. My parents prayed for me and God answered their prayers! God is so good!
God bless you. God is so generous, loving and kind. Glory be to Jesus. Thank you for sharing your testimony. Jesus is the resurrection and the life - whatever we put in His hands He will breathe new life into it.
It is a sign of the times that we have lost that humility. While I am not religious myself, I also can see how deeply flawed our belief in ourselves is. We are merely something that relies on many things that are plain for anyone to see we could not do without. From the food we eat to the gasoline we put into our cars - we’d be nothing without all these things we got that we didn’t make ourselves. Also, despite all the progress in science, there is a lot we don’t understand. I personally believe we don’t know why we’re here and find people who reject the notion of god in the absolute sense of the word to be making themselves guilty of the same as which they accuse religious people of - of pretending they know something they do not.
@@teddybearroosevelt1847 that is beautifully said. As an agnostic, my only worry is that sometimes “faith” can lead to an overconfident belief that you are doing what God is instructing with disregard to dissenting voices. In other words, it can become the opposite of humility.

I was an atheist but when I returned to my Catholic faith, I’ve prayed the rosary every morning for the last few years. It centers me, overcome destructive habits, and it has brought me tremendous peace.
I am so grateful to this man for his courage in speaking out about his prayer life. All this courage return to him 11 fold. The amount of love he has for his audience to face this giant and go outside of his comfort zone shows his true love for the people he creates content for. All this love return to him 11 fold. His faith will be rewarded in ways he will lose count. All those who benefit from this witness will also reap those rewards. God called to him to speak out and he answered. That is a good man a soldier of the greater good
Andrew seems so vulnerable and honest at the same time while speaking on this. You can tell he has been through some real battles internally and his search for external references has really helped to ground him and give him a renewed direction. I wish him the very best on this never ending journey
I used to be athiest and died last summer, please read all of this: Jesus is the only way to heaven because God is the father, yes. But you NEED Jesus because he died on the cross for your sins shedding his 🩸to pay for your past, present and future sins. God sent Jesus to die for us. King James Bible because sin separates us from God but we are all sinners. The bible explains because Adam and Eve were tricked by Satan to sin. Before Satan was an angel in heaven beloved by God but Satan who was a high-ranking angel gathered 1/3 of heavens angels to try to get rid of God and be God himself. Clearly that did not work so God made hell for Satan and cast him and the 1/3 of angels turning them into Satan and demons. He made hell for them. Before it was just earth and heaven. Satan hated God and us, therefore. He decided to trick Adam and Eve to sin. And so they fell and all of man-kind. We are all descendants from Adam and Eve. Therefore we all sin. God allowed animal sacrifice to pay for these sins so they could be found guiltless. Then eventually he decided to send Jesus to die and pay for our sins by shedding his blood. Because Jesus was born to a virgin and God was the father, he did not inherit the fallen state. Jesus never sinned for 33 years and so he truly was the sacrifice for us. To accept this free gift and spend eternity with God and other people in heaven. All you have to do is have faith and pray the salvation prayer. Ask for faith if you need to. If thou shall confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus and believe in thy heart, God hath raised him from the dead. Thou shall be saved. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved. Saved from what? everlasting torment in hell. We are saved in grace, thru faith and that is not of your own works, lest any man should boast. It is the gift of God. That means being a good person is not what saves you. Faith in Jesus is what saves you. And if you don’t have faith you can pray for faith and you will not be abandoned ok. I used to be an atheist. Last summer, I died as a Christian and it was the most wonderful loving and peaceful experience. I have watched many NDE and there’s blackness and hell for the non believers and love and peace, mansions, gardeners etc for the people who accepted Jesus. Might not seem fair, but the bible tells us that God doesn’t wish that ANY should perish. So don’t perish and accept Jesus today because you never know when your last breath will be. If you want to accept him now pray this: 🙏🏻 Dear Heavenly Father, I confess Jesus you are lord. Father, I believe you raised him from the dead and even if I do not, I have some level of faith by praying this and your word I can trust that I will be saved. I choose to accept this free gift that Jesus died in my place to pay my sins so I could die one day and go directly to heaven. I pray this in Jesus name, thank you and Amen🙏🏻
What a self-revealing response, so moving to hear from Huberman, an amazing scientist and academic mind. Lex Fridman's gentleness and sensitivity always touch me. Two wonderful humans.
I saw this yesterday, which was weird, because the day before I had the urge to pray, even tough I’m not particularly religious. After seeing this I decided to pray that evening, and it felt wonderful.
Most of us who have been doing science for years realize that the more you go down this rabbit hole, the more plausible belief in God becomes. There is a huge shift in mindset from the sophomore or junior in college sitting in their introductory biochem, evolution, or genetics classes to the grad student at the end of their journey to the experimental researcher with decades of experience. The more you do science, the more you realize how unbelievably complex and intricate life is, the more you realize our current models and theories are inadequate to explain that complexity, and furthermore you realize positing God as an explanation for the universe doesn’t contradict with the scientific mechanistic explanations, on the other hand it enhances and gives meaning to your scientific endeavours - I can definitely say it has for me. Much respect to Andrew Huberman! Hope he continues down this path.
I resonate with everything he's saying. Plus his advice for cold showers and sunlight saved me from seasonal depression last winter, got a daylight lamp and do 2 coldshowers daily now.
That newfound energy got me into stoicism, with the literal quote "and in the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an endless summer" I now walk a stoic yet spiritual path and I have to thank Dr Huberman for his studies and insights into your relationship with your body.
King David gave us the gift of the Psalms to sing for all eternity. The Catholic Church prays the Psalms seven times per day in the Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office. A Priest need not say Mass everyday but he needs to recite the Liturgy all day everyday. Viva Cristo Rey!
Surrender. I've been a fan of Andrew for maybe a year now, but I gained a greater appreciation for him in being humble enough to to acknowledge the role of faith in his life. God bless you.
Man, I love this. Thank you for sharing Andrew. For the longest time I felt ashamed to admit, I wanted to believe in a higher power, because in college, I studied biology and had a professor teach an evolution class where he mocked religion. As I get older, I feel like I’ve had much of the same viewpoints Andrew shared where it feels like a sense of release, giving up your control to a higher power. The ability to talk through your problems and getting everything out there is therapy in itself. The power of prayer is powerful.
Huberman don’t be ashamed to be bold in your faith! This was a powerful message, especially for me as a new believer who’s studying & practicing to understand. Thank you for sharing🙏🏽
Giving up all self reliance. We (self) is the biggest barrier we have. By asking God and seeking Him, he will help you and he will show you the work that only He can do through you. I am so happy to hear you testify on your experience. There is no shame or embarrassment to admitting this. Admitting that you are human and cannot do anything in your own power is very freeing. Let go and let God.
So thankful for Andrew Huberman’s humility and vulnerability in sharing his experience with God and prayer-truly a man I’ve come to respect through listening to his podcast over the years. His love for learning and teaching is so authentic and helps all of us who tune in. And well done to Lex who was brilliant in asking the question and unpacking the thought. It’s truly a life-transforming revelation that brings so much freedom that has def changed my life and I pray changes many more.

This is absolutely amazing to watch. I am very confident when I say that I respect this man more than anyone on the entire Internet. This video cemented that.
I feel so much more connected to the work that Huberman does knowing that he indeed prays each morning. Thank God a scientist has the humility to entertain a relationship with something metaphysical and larger than any one of us.
I suffered from mania, delusions, psychotic episodes after smoking weed for 4 months. Hospitalized a whole summer, they let me out twice and both times I was still screwed up. I asked God for help once and was immediately better.
Probably nothing stronger that a man can do than to admit that he isn't strong and ask for that strength from whatever source it comes from. What a blessing that men like this exist that are willing to tell us about what their experiences are like in earnest.
As a deeply connected and practicing Jew, this Andrew, is one of the most meaningful things I’ve heard you say. You’re a brilliant scientist who understands so much about the Human body and mind and yet you have real conscious awareness of God, the Source of it all. I respect your honesty and courage to be proud of what you truly believe in.
Thank Dr.Huberman for sharing your experiences and reflections with so much introspection, vulnerability and humility! You are wonderful, unique and inspiring! 💖
Not to sound weak, but this made me want to cry. I have listened to Andrew Huberman since before it was cool. He has always struck me as such an incredible human being. This explains everything.
I've also recently started praying and agree, it helps take the weight of the world off your shoulders and put it out to the universe that I, one person, cannot be perfect and need assistance. I don't know how, who, or what receives my signal, but it's amazing how there is a response, and things change in accordance with my prayers. It's not something I remember to do every day, but I want to
Coming from the scientific community I realize what courage it took for you to say this. Your humility in sharing is heartening. Thank you, Andrew, and thank you, Lex, for hosting and affirming this which speaks to the spiritual reality of what has been said.
It brings a tear to my eye seeing Andrew Huberman going in the wrong direction. It's okay, otherwise he's an extraordinary human. It's nice to see he's fallible.

Well done, Huberman! I am also a man with deep scientific training, specifically in medicine, but more importantly I’m a man of God. It’s nice to see you open up about that very important part of your life. Speak it with confidence. Prayer IS powerful. 👊🏽
This is so powerful ! Belief in a higher power and prayer is crutial for recovery of ANY self destructive behaviour and to live a happier life in general that is why is the backbone of 12 step programs : Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
I've been really going through it recently. Full on existential crisis. Just hearing someone as smart as Dr. Andrew Huberman humoring something.. anything more than us is so goddamn comforting. Thanks Doc, you really helped me today. Thank you, Lex.
I know you’ve probably heard it a million times, but if you’ve never actually looked into it, I suggest you explore Christianity. It’s unlike any other religion. Every religions tells you there’s a God on a mountain you’re trying to get to, but Christianity acknowledges you can’t get up the mountain by your own power, so God comes down to carry you up (that’s what a Jesus really did when he lived, died, and rose again). So please I only type this because I care for you and I was where you are. Just give it a fair shot :)
Study the Bible, deeply and critically, but with a honest heart and mind. There you will find Truth. Do not be afraid to compare the evidence for Christianity with that of all other belief systems. Study apologetics. If you are a sincere seeker of truth, you will find it. I pray that God will help you through your current crisis and that you will find truth and meaning for your life.
Thank you Dr. Huberman for sharing your experiences with prayer. I pray that this video reaches a broader audience and allows others to connect with Him through prayer.
"You're not asking for some magic hand to come down and take care of you; You're asking for the help to come through you so that your body is used to do these right works." He's so right on!!
I wish Tim Keller was still alive to sit down with y’all. Encouraged by your revelation Andrew. Praying for y’all for more wisdom and understanding from God!
Thankful too for Tim Keller's life, and that we have his writings to turn to still. He was (to me), one of the best integrations of faith and intellect.
There are many rock solid books on apologetics. If you really want to go heavy then get Evidence that Demands a Verdict. It’s not for the casual reader. But for starters, just know that the idea that there is a conflict between faith and science is quite simply a lie.

It's such an encouragement to see this kind of humility and intellectual honesty from someone seeking truth and human flourishing. Praying God draws Andrew Huberman closer into knowing Him.
Andrew, it was humbling to see somebody I have HUGE respect for being so open about the concept of prayer. Prayer, as it is now, is often about nothing more than reciting words. Prayer as it's meant to be is communing with the Universe, and our own higher selfs too. My respect for you has grown immensely.
Ive always been of the mind that truly intelligent people, if they can overcome their pride, will eventually come to God. So happy to see this ❤ what a wonderful man
This story resonates with me, an all-life round atheist, at some point I found myself on my knees, and I surrendered. I laid down my weapons, I recognized that I could not do it on my own, and that I would not be here unless there was a God full of mercy. And I asked. And I prayed. He was not what I wanted Him to be. Thank God! He is what he is. What I did not recognize, up to this point, is that I too had been praying secretly for such a long time, ashamed. Still now, sometimes, I find it hard to say His Name, Jesus Christ - from all the slander that His Holy Name has received, from me, myself. Κύριε ἐλέησον, Κύριε ἐλέησον, Κύριε ἐλέησον. I will pray for you, Andrew Huberman.
I'm an agonistic and I pray every morning and every night as a supplement and complement to my meditation sessions. Both help tremendously to help me stay above the fray, manage stress more effectively, and manifest good changes.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Thanks for posting this. I grew up very religious but am no longer and have kind of felt lost regarding a spiritual practice. I now work in the field of behaviorism and am working on my master's to become a therapist. I can relate to what you were saying here because I still find it rewarding to pray but I feel conflicted because I no longer have a rigid set of beliefs regarding a higher power and because it makes me feel like I am not being a good practitioner if I am talking to something that I really don't have solid evidence for. Again though, thank you for this post because there's just something powerful still about surrendering to something greater than us when there is so much that is out of our hands.
Wise words of a humble man. Thank you Dr.Huberman for your integrity and wisdom. I think too, that's a part of us, which we discover when we get mature, grow older and it's beautiful. Spirituality is beaitiful. G C.Jung noted that second half of life should be a time of turning "inwards", towards one's soul. Half of life is a breakthrough time of transformation. If it is an escape from development or an escape from the unknown or suffering, we can deny it, and then we might end up going backwards in our development. It is scary to get open to the unknown but it is necessary. Thank you both for these wise words.

I'll listen again.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Andrew but this clip amplified it. I have so much more respect for him now because he’s brave enough to show this side.

Can you believe God told me the same?

I am praying every morning and I KNOW that there is SOMEONE there listening as my life changed (in good) so much since. There is someone much greater than we are and this is a such a great hope. This made me cry as well. The humility in reaching outside of ourselves for help that we all need, for glimpses of a bigger picture... so beautiful, so rich. He is onto something life changing (although it sounds as though he's always had the hunch God just might be listening). I was honoured to hear this conversation.

Praying is a act of humility. To find your self you have to loose yourself. Mr. Huberman is dead on. Thank you.

Andrew seems so vulnerable and honest at the same time while speaking on this. You can tell he has been through some real battles internally and his search for external references has really helped to ground him and give him a renewed direction. I wish him the very best on this never ending journey
As an atheist/agnostic, I greatly appreciate Huberman's humility and approach to discussing his personal faith.
I used to be athiest and died last summer, please read all of this: Jesus is the only way to heaven because God is the father, yes. But you NEED Jesus because he died on the cross for your sins shedding his 🩸to pay for your past, present and future sins. God sent Jesus to die for us. King James Bible
because sin separates us from God but we are all sinners.
If you want to accept him now pray this:
🙏🏻 Dear Heavenly Father, I confess Jesus you are lord.

That newfound energy got me into stoicism, with the literal quote "and in the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an endless summer"

Psalm 40:1-5
King David gave us the gift of the Psalms to sing for all eternity. The Catholic Church prays the Psalms seven times per day in the Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office. A Priest need not say Mass everyday but he needs to recite the Liturgy all day everyday. Viva Cristo Rey!

I suggest exploring Buddhism. It can be practiced in a secular way, no metaphysical mumbo-jumbo yet it can give you peace and meaning.

This story resonates with me, an all-life round atheist, at some point I found myself on my knees, and I surrendered. I laid down my weapons, I recognized that I could not do it on my own, and that I would not be here unless there was a God full of mercy. And I asked. And I prayed. If it is an escape from development or an escape from the unknown or suffering, we can deny it, and then we might end up going backwards in our development. It is scary to get open to the unknown but it is necessary.
Thank you both for these wise words.
Love to hear him talking about his faith publicly. Prayer is very powerful.
I believe this man will be very excited when he finds out Jesus is God and starts having a relationship with him and following Jesus' guidance
