This past Sunday, my 67-year-old friend passed away. He was a creature of habit riding his bike around 7:45 am on a rural road when he was stuck by a white truck and killed. The perpetrator left the scene and the police are continuing their investigation. My friend had a wife and two grown children. Listening to Andrew’s Podcast this morning renewed my faith in God. I experience with psycodelics and many 'New Age' practices in an effort to reach God when I was younger. Althought the experiences were intense and surreal... they were fleating. I eventually became saved in October of 2000. I did nothing. God drew me to Himself via the Holy Spirit. God gave me a new heart with new desires after His own. Over the years I have experienced God in a supernatrual way that can not compare to psycodelics. God healed my L4-L5 last year. After 15 years of doctors, procedures and pain pills.... I woke up in the middle of the night and it felt like someone was grabbing me by my tailbone and shaking me violently. In that moment I knew I was healed and started to cry like a baby as I praised God. I woke up the next day.... no pain. A week later..... no pain. A few months later.... I tapered off the pain medication. It was a legitimate healing. God is real...

@@MrCmon113 well, perhaps I didn't explain myself correctly. Humble is the one who doesn't affirm or negate things for which he has no evidence or no knowledge of. It is true that negating a premise doesn't need evidence, but the premise has to be valid. E.G: debating what happened before the Big Bang is based upon a false premise since time itself is a dimension which arose from Big Bang itself, so there shouldn't be a before, strictly speaking.

I believe it's the idea that science has to have some kind of proof and studies that are known to be true, and we don't have worldwide proof that God does actually exist. but the kicker is, what proof do we have that he doesn't exist? I think that belief in something so pure and good and healthy is beneficial, even if it's not true because there isn't a negative consequence to believing in god if he doesn't exist. you have an anchor and you're happy, and you die and it's just black. but if you don't you'll look god in the eye and he'll tell you he was there, trying to get your attention the whole time and you ignored and rejected him. personally I don't want to have that conversation.

Although AH makes no mention of Jesus in his experience of praying to God, his desire to “harness care and love” models Jesus (the God-man) of the Bible he is endeavoring to read. As to the life-changing quote from the author of this thread, Galatians 2:20 comes to mind (sounds familiar to the point he is making). The reality of it’s truth in my personal experience has been a source of strength & peace. How? Not sure, exactly. And like AH said, “it works.” I guess that is the point of faith. (Hebrews 11)

God has tremendously blessed me and my family with material blessing. I constantly remind myself that my participation in him doesn’t necessitate this. His promise that he works for the good of all those who love him and are called according to his purposes does not require him to materially bless me. We live in a fallen world where Jesus said we will pay a cost, we will endure trials. The promise still stands that God will work it for good. It’s not worthless or wasteful.
On gifts and skills I think skills are inherent to the uniqueness of who we are, while gifts are things where he imparts a capability that we didn’t have. I think it’s responsible to be a good steward of gifts and skills but I think the hat trick of God is that when we participate in his plans, he will use the skills and gifts we possess to bring about his glory in a way that the world would not have expected. He will use a skill or gift in us that isn’t what the world would have thought is required for that success outcome. We see this time and again from Moses to Hannah to David to Peter to Paul to Timothy and many more.
    This was an encouraging clip.

If you want to believe in a religion and also use the scientific method, go ahead.

@@creativeape8994 As Dr. Huberman mentioned in this video, read the Bible. Start in the New Testament (book of Matthew) and take note of everything Jesus says. Contemplate it, wrestle with it, apply it. The Holy scriptures are a fountain of wisdom.
      A boiled down synopsis…
The timeless, spaceless, immaterial, personal, and all powerful being (God) created our universe (time space and matter). He created us as his representatives (image bearers) to love Him, love others, and flourish under his design and purpose for us. Humans were created by God with free will and chose to rebel against God by violating his standards and purposes for us. Because humans violate God’s law (lying, stealing, cheating, adultery, coveting, treating one another poorly, not honoring God…) we become criminals and a penalty/fine is accrued that must be paid. Because God is perfectly just and perfectly righteous, the penalty/fine must be paid, otherwise He would be unjust. Instead of you paying that penalty/fine through separation from Him in a place called the lake of fire, God came down in human form as God the Son (Jesus) and lived a perfect life (never violating the law once) and paid our penalty/fine through his crucifixion and death. Then he rose from the grave and now sits at God the Father’s right hand being given all power and authority. Everyone who trusts in Jesus alone for their salvation, admitting they are sinners (law breakers) and submitting their entire lives to him, turning (repenting) from their old ways and making Jesus Lord of their life are therefore given a righteous standing before God as well as eternal life in God’s presence/Kingdom.
That’s the Gospel. Either you can pay for your sins (wrongdoings) or Jesus can pay for them for you. The choice is up to you. God bless you, I pray God illuminates your path and guides you. 🙏🏼
“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

I recently came in to a big life change. I travel quite a bit and always come up with excuse to why i can’t fit things i need into my life. I have been wanting to explore my connection with God/ nature. To feel the presence of something higher.
These last few months I found the discipline to wake up before work every morning and exercise, before work. After that I meditate. I stacked these two habits. I made sure to do both. To exert myself and to also find time for stillness. Both so important in different ways.
After some time of practicing this stillness I was able to fathom praying. Something I have never done as an adult. I did it as a child. It somewhow faded overtime. I do feel that its becoming easier and, for what its worth, I feel changes in my spirit and attitude.
Exercise and meditation have become an amazing constant in my life. Maybe prayer will be the next pillar!

I think us in the medical field believe in God more than anyone else. I’ve seen stuff that can only be explained by our Father. I’ve had God takeover my hands and guide me. If we tell anyone they’ll think we’re crazy which is why we’re hush hush about it. I’m glad he’s speaking out 🤲

Thank you Andrew. Thank you for being vulnerable. Thank you for not being afraid to say what you really feel. Thank you for just stepping out when science doesn't normally do that. You can't see the birth process or how things are structured and not be amazed at creation. You can't explain it. When you go to a funeral and it's spiritually uplifting because you know isn't the end here on earth. That's peace. That's God speaking to you and thru you. And now the platform you have will allow you to share that as a scientist. People need to hear the truth now more than ever. I'm always searching for how to be better and do better and the youth tree so to speak. But when I step back and read the word, hear worship music, and just feel his presence and love...well then nothing else matters. God's got this...let him speak thru you. That's why you are experiencing what you are experiencing. God Bless You my friend.

Absolutely love this clip. Andrew Huberman reminds me of who I am becoming professionally and our journeys feel similar. I am in the medical field with a background in functional medicine/Chinese medicine, science - & want to help humanity with my research and blog posts. Andrew is such an inspiration to me. I came to know God more last year, and my life, relationships, business, and health has become better since praying every day. I just started reading the Bible last month before bed & my insomnia went away. I have this unbelievable peace and happiness that I can’t even put into words. It’s refreshing to see a man of science believe in God. Reminds me of Dr Emanuel Swedenborg from the 1600s who was also somewhat of a neuroscientist and searched to understand the spirit of the human body. After decades of discoveries of the human body he ended up Becoming a man of God.
