- Here's a HD video showing off the new Matterhorn Bobsleds ride. This was recorded on 6.14.2012. This is the first time guests get to ride it after its 6-months long refurbishment. The vehicles will also be replaced to a single seater instead of the lap sitting, with three seats in each bobsled with two bobsleds linked together for a total of six guests. This use to be my favorite ride when I was 5, that's when my dad lost his Lakers hat. I always wondered if that monster was wearing it.

I remember riding this the first time when I was 6, and desperately pinning my Daisy Duck cap to the cart’s floor with my foot as the ride felt so fast, I didn’t wanna lose it.

I rode this at night a couple of years ago at Disneyland. It was very interesting and actually quite eerie. This ride never scared me or nor does it now, but something about it at night, just gave me a chill.

@@kmgaming1762 Well, the Matterhorn is said to be haunted . . . Actually, the first death at Disneyland was on the Matterhorn. In May of 1964, just before Midnight, 15 year old Mark Maples got out of his restraints, stood up and bumped his head on the concrete mountain and fell out of his car. He had severe head trauma and was unconscious when they found him. He died a few days later, never regaining consciousness. 20 years later a woman from Arizona died, Dollie Regina Young. She was riding on the back of the bobsled around 3:30 PM and fell out onto the tracks being struck by the following car.
Anyway, just thought I'd toss those in there as potentially why you might feel a chill? Other than that, it might be because it does get chilly at night and it is an old roller coaster?

I (and I'm sure many other's) have had such good memories with Disney.
Matterhorn being one of them.
I remember when I was really young, everyone was going to Matterhorn, and I was really nervouse because I could here the Yeti's and the riders screaming.
But then super relieved because I was told I'm able to sit with my mom.
It's one thing when your scared on a ride of some sort and you can only hold on to someone's arm, sitting alone takes it to a whole nother level.
I still miss the hollow Matterhorn with the "Skyway" going through it. Scared the living hell outta me when I was a kid.
This is such a classic, amazing ride! I wish this was also in Florida :/
Some things in Florida are better tho, at least from what I have seen

The old yeti has done nothing but haunt my dreams
have literally had the image of the yeti standing over the cart from this exact version burned into my memory whenever I think of Disneyland ever since i was little
That yeti still freaks me out every time I ride it.

Not gonna lie, I nearly fell out of my chair going on this ride back in 2007 since the seats weren't very secure. I just hope these new ones are more secure for riders..

I rode this ride as Paint The Night was going on and I cant explain how great it was.
I went on this when I was 10 and I remember I kept my eyes closed the whole time
I LOVE just LOVE Disneyland and this (other than Pirates of the Caribbean) is my ALL time favorite ride

I love how it starts when it's early, with daylight, and by the time he's about to ride, it's dark... how long was the freaking line??
The line is usually long but the line moves at a pretty fast speed
It's usually the longest line along with Space Mountain.

I rode the Matterhorn, first, at age 10. Scared as hell!!!! But, according to my calculations, I've been riding it ever since for over 35 years. My travels have taken me around the globe. Now back in LA I can't wait to ride it again, thanks to your POV :)
I've just looked it up and yeah, you're right!
Last time I went on it was sometime in 2007, and I'm pretty sure it was moving then.
All I can think of, hearing the guy go, "Wheeee! Wheeee! AAAAAAHHH!!" is Cheese from Foster's Home. XD

Is it smoother? I remember in the "good ole days" it was a smooth ride. When I went last year, even after the track redo, it was jerky.

Going on this last week just made me wish that I went on the Nightmare before Christmas Haunted Mansion one more time.
Always go on the left. If a cast member tries to push you to the right, ask them if you can ride on the left. The Tomorrowland track is a bit faster, has sharper turns, and has a couple dips. The Fantasyland track (right) isn't as fast and is smoother.

I just went on it last week after YEARS! And the new Yeti’s actually move and try to claw at you. I love this ride! But it almost gave me whiplash with how jerky it was 😭
Harold the yeti AKA abomidable snowman scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. I thought that my blue jeans were going get ripped off by him. I didn't know what Audio Animatronics were back then. Now that I'm grown up,I'm NOT afraid of him.
Yep! There's a similar one in Orlando.. but it's called Everest Expedition. Matterhorn Bobsleds is in Anaheim only :3
That's good! I went on it when I was a kid. It was my favorite. I have the pin which has Stitch in lederhosen in which you can move the snowball up and down. The pin is on my lanyard.

Nice ride! Im going to ride this monday!! I like the new bobsleds, the new lighting on the lift and the yetis, and I like that the waterfalls that the cars ride down work again!

the matterhorn is back to its vintage color
Hey, is the ride still as rough and jolting as it used to be? My wife and I love this ride, but due to a severe car accident in 2008, my neck and back simply cant handle how rough the track was. Id really like to ride it again if they smoothed it out at all.

I never went on that ride
They repainted the entire ride. The whole inside and outside, they fixed some little effects, made the place look nicer, added new cars, made the yeti louder, and fixed/added new lighting effects.
This used to be my favorite ride, but the last time I went was horrible! The new single-seat cars are the most uncomfortable ride cars I have every experienced. I am 6'0", and the only seat they could fit me in was the front - even then my knees were crushed against my chest, and I ended up with severe bruising in my shins from the front edge of the car.
There are 2 different tracks that run throughout the Matterhorn. Both tracks share one yeti and each track has it's own 'exclusive' yeti.
Okay I went on this ride not long ago and the left side was way better! The right side was really boring! But the left side had big drops and it was way better!

Expedition Everest is one of few roller coasters that change tracks. Both rides are equally great with each it's own strengths.

Matterhorn is a great ride, and since I hadn't been in six years, I forgot that there were not seats to separate us before. But, now I do remember. Matterhorn, to me is fun, but very jerky and not very smooth. But, because it's the Matterhorn, I still suffer through it, lol

I wish Disney would bring back the old Matterhorn seats. It had a lot more leg room. The new seats are extremely uncomfortable if you're tall. Now I can't even ride it.

Actually this version of Matterhorn is 3.0, originally the interior was hollow, each bobsled had one car instead of two, and their was no abominable snowman.

Disneyland in TomorrowLand and FantasyLand. 2 sides each! You can't miss them. I know my way around there very well, so I have to help people out with it including my parents.

sucks that they changed the cars. i was scared of this ride as a kid but i loved it so as long as i rode with a family member it was cool, now kids can't do that haha

This ride honestly gave me a panic attack. If they were actual coaster seats that didn't constantly shudder I think I'd have been fine. The people who can actually enjoy this ride are lucky, I'm jealous lol. It looks really cool. I saw pretty much none of it when I went on it because my eyes were either shut or blurry from crying xD I went in 2010 and then again in 2017... The second time was worse
I think the Yeti we have over here in Animal Kingdom on Expedition Everest is much more intimidating. That is, it would be... if it was working. I've heard the E.E. Yeti hasn't been able to move for a very long time, so all they do to give it the proper effect is flash a strobe light on it and blow a fan in its hair. I envy the people that got to experience the ride when the Yeti was working. Still, this ride looks pretty darn fun. Makes me want to visit Disneyland even more. :)
If your referring to Expedition Everest. It's a completely different ride and premise. (Matterhorn is in Switzerland, while Everest is in Tibet) and you have two different monsters Matterhorn is the Abdominal Snowman and Everest is the Yeti. Then both the coasters are entirely different. Matterhorn is a tubular steel track with bobsled trains while Everest is a wooden roller coaster with some steel with regular trains.

you only saw two because you only went through one side of the ride. you see, both sides share one, and then they both have fun individually. :)
There are two tracks. One yeti is positioned so both tracks can see it.
The other two are specific to each track. So one ride = 2 yetis.
But there are 3 yetis in all.
