Cole, I value your opinion. I’m an old center and 39 year offensive line coach. However, if you ever attend OU/Texass, you will rate it higher.
Respectfully.
I respect your thought put into this list. However:
If Texas’s biggest rival is OU and OU’s biggest rival is Texas…
Then, how is A&M vs Texas a bigger rivalry than Red River?
I don’t get it, genuinely.
The Aggie game is certainly worthy of consideration of a list like this, but it doesn’t have the same level of tradition, nor competitiveness, as the others on the list.
In state hate. Nothing like it. Bama v barn, Rebs v Dogs. If there's a game with any more feuding hatred than Ole Miss and St. it needs to be cancelled bc it would be too dangerous for a game to happen.
But Army Navy and Ohio state Michigan are hated rivals that aren’t in-state rivalries.
In state hate is just one type of hate.
@@cconnell7009 Yeah as a Texas grad, I hate OU, but mostly just laugh at lil bro A&M.
@@JJ-yx6jy that’s the understanding I had of the rivalry pecking order. Still a rivalry but it’s more their thing. Kind of like Bedlam was an OSU thing.
@@cconnell7009 cheers🍻
People outside of Alabama will never understand the hatred, depth, or importance of the iron bowl. It’s as close to life or death you can get as a fan
If you’ve never been to ou vs Texas you can’t talk. I’ve been to “THE GAME” and ou Texas was the best atmosphere I’ve ever seen
@@blakegood2157ou vs Texas holds is nowhere nearly as important or heartfelt a rivalry as the Iron Bowl
@@sw3090 this statement just shows how little you know about the rivalry and the true hatred of this rivalry. Go to the game…
@@sw3090You're DEAD WRONG!....no game means as much to two groups of fans as The Red River Showdown betwixt the Texans & Okies...nuthin...
RRS is undoubtedly 1 or 2 without question in the SEC. Iron bowl is the only game that is in the same conversation.
My personal rivalry list( as Georgia fan) based more on the current/recent, but I do acknowledge the histories of Rivalries as well:
1. Iron Bowl
2. Egg Bowl
3. Red River
4. Georgia Florida
5. Texas vs Texas A&M
I’m completely with you Cole on your top 2 rivalries knowing those fan bases as a Georgia fan and how these in state rivalries can get heated. I think Red River does need more respect though. These programs have been near the top of their conference the majority of the time in the Big 12, have their biggest recruiting battles historically against each other and have played with conference title implications on the line. Georgia vs Florida is more personal to me and know the battle that comes with these programs. Texas and Texas A&M is a historic rivalry of the past that I’d love to see be revived again.
I would move the egg bowl to 5 and move everything else up.

Both states have the Magnolia as the state flower, so Magnolia Bowl.
Football is better when the Magnolia Bowl is good
Arkansas/Tejas
I was at the Cotton Bowl for Eli’s last game Ole Miss vs Oklahoma State in the State Fair Stadium. Rebels won !
Nice!
The difference between the Red River Shootout and all other CFB rivalries is the history of the RRS is the history of America in the twentieth century.
Texas was self made, the union begged them to join, and one of the largest economies in the world. Oklahoma was lands given to tribes 'cause it was so worthless. Texas was oil barons and cattle tycoons. Oklahoma was homesteaders and reservations. Texas is white collar. Oklahoma is blue collar. Heck, in the 60's through 70 Texas was all white while the first family of Oklahoma football is a family of black farmers from Eufaula.
The venue is far from what makes this rivalry great.
Red River is top 3 rivalry game overall. It's first if not second best game in the SEC soon to probably be replaced by the UT vs a&m rivalry game. Everything you said for auburn Alabama is the same for Texas vs OU and possibly Texas vs a&m
the difference is that OU vs UT are different states, We in Alabama live next door to each other
@@GranTheftPandalol Dallas is closer to Oklahoma’a campus than UT. The entire north part of Texas is owned by Oklahoma fans. This isn’t an informed take
@@Jmcsanz You dont live in the same damn state as the other university. Sorry Iron Bowl over this.
@@Jmcsanz Why don't you go to your own crap state?
@@GranTheftPanda please look at a map. Your imaginary border didn’t change distance. Iron bowl has less top 5, top 10 and top 25 matchups, worse competitive record and one has 2 bluebloods and the other doesn’t. Auburn isn’t good enough to be apart of the best rivalry in the game when two of those exist already.
I don't see how you can have Texas/A&M on this list when they haven't played in 10+ years. It's an insult to all the other great rivalries that happen every year - including Texas/OU! I'm a Texas fan and I can tell you I'm MUCH more looking forward to the Cotton Bowl that then game vs. A&M this year.
My personal list:
1) Texas/OU
2) Iron Bowl
3) Egg Bowl
4) Alabama-LSU
5) Georgia-Florida
As a Tide fan, I'm glad IB made that catch. As a girl dad, I feel for you brother. Nothing's worse than baby girl crying.
Im not a huge pickle fan, yet my wife is. I was listening to the show and mentioned wicklrs pickles and i wonder if they are good. My wife went to the fridge and brought over the jar and said here try one. I was floored, that we had some in the house. They are really good.
As an LSU fan, my favorite SEC rivalries are: Iron Bowl, OU/TX, Egg Bowl, FL/GA, Texas vs. Texas A&m, once they start playing again, LSU/Florida, LSU/Bama, LSU vs. Auburn the Tiger Bowl, Auburn/Georgia, Arkansas vs. Texas will be fun to watch, TN/FL, Ole Miss vs. Arkansas and Texas A&M vs. Arkansas have been fun to watch.
Oklahoma vs Texas Best rivaly in college sports just look at the women world series.
I think the National Championship implications for both teams is what makes the Iron Bowl #1. It truly has national implications almost every year. When is the last time the Egg Bowl had national implications?
By that logic every game that involves Bama and uga has national championship implications. Auburn hasn’t been in title contention since 2017. Auburn exists to consecrate the achievements of others. It’s not the best rivalry game until Auburn improves.
Auburn plays games with national implications? Is this 15 years ago or something?
Have to admit, hard to argue.
Immaculate deflection , The Stand , piss miss double dismiss, everybody knows
So Ga v Fla & LSU v ATM aren’t huge rivalry. Smh
Don't forget the pure hate for OU-Texass!
🤦♂️ OU Texas at 5 is wiiiiild… got the SEC blinkers on there mate 😂
It's not big in the SEC and neither team have any SEC lore. Nope he's being honest. Which most Texas fans have a hard time with
Egg Bowl is a great local rivalry but doesn’t mean anything, aside from bragging rights. No implications. A list without Florida-Georgia in at least the top 3 is simply just incorrect.
Alabama Tennessee above OU/TX is wild.
Its like you played in the sec west or something
Iron Bowl!
I’m very interested to see what UT and OU look like as the season progresses. SEC is more difficult week in and out than Big12. Doesn’t mean they won’t win games and be successful, but it will wear different.
The same question applies to every team in the SEC.
RRS has been a great rivalry game but when you are the only two competitive teams in your conference nearly every season it kind of loses its hype. Let's see how it's going in a conference with twice the competition.
Nah it's still worth the hype. You can say the exact thing about the BIG's lack of competitiveness yet Mich Ohio St is huge.
As you said, you’ve never seen the RRS. Come back after you’ve done your homework. Lol
Have you ever been to the Iron Bowl? I doubt it. Cole is entitled to his opinion.
@@zacharyallen1878the iron bowl is a every 2 year game, the only time auburn can win is when the game is at Jordan-hare.
I'm 40, so I'm not exactly young, but my rivalry was always LSU v Arkansas, Battle For the Boot. Of course, as an LSU fan, Saban leaving then ending up at Alabama and kicking our a$se$ for the next 15 years, there will always be a hatred of Alabama that far surpasses any others.
I’m sorry but Georgia Florida has to be in the top 5…
Oklahoma vs Texas over All sports is the greatest rival in college sports just look at the women world series.
conecuh sausage? You can delete if i got it right, until they sponsor the show.
100%
#CONECUHSAUSAGE Yall get in here and pay the man.
Biased take, being an SEC alum, I've been to an Iron Bowl and Cocktail Party, any LSU night game are INSANELY INTENSE.
The Red River may be more meaningful when it's SEC on the line
Iron bowl!!!!!
Clown take 🤣
What about new rivalries
QB Dart was hit in the helmet by a State player in the last game, and it wasn’t called.
God can you get to the point?
You hit the nail on the head regarding MSU and Mississippi. The fan bases themselves couldn't be more different. State fans are normal down to Earth people who are generally nice and welcoming and try to get along with everybody. Meanwhile Mississippi fans are snobby self centered elitist who tailgate with fine china and chandeliers and they only tolerate minorities. To be fair, there is a large segment of middle to lower class people who root for Mississippi but they tend to be drawn to the "only tolerates minorities" side of Mississippi fans. The elitist fans look down on those Mississippi fans because of the income and education gap. But they share the love affair with confederate symbolism so they have that in common.
I think that sums it up.
what kind of idiot loves confederate symbols?
You gotta school up Josh Pate on this. His media pass and being able to go to the fair during half time have distorted his view of a rivalry game.
What is wrong about what he said about OU Texas? He didn’t say it was definitively the best rivalry he just said that the game doesn’t take a back seat to any rivalry. OU Texas is a top 3 rivalry game in college football with the Iron Bowl and The Game
@@mylespoun9709 his view is highly jaded by the ability to attend the fair at half time. The ability to attend a fair should have zero impact when comparing rivalry games.
@@corvoshlorpe3849 Or maybe it is because the game has come down to the wire and been extremely exciting for a while
@@corvoshlorpe3849 Or because damn near every game for the last 10 years has gone down to the wire and been exciting. It is also really the only rivalry game that has the unique experience of being completely split down the 50 yard line by fans
@@mylespoun9709 meh
Navy vs Army? Please stop
The Iron Bowl would have been number one 10 years ago. It isn't the same anymore. Nobody cares. Stop living in the past
I’m sorry Cube but RRS is the SEC New best Rivalry
Sorry, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas and South Carolina aren't SEC. South Carolina is ACC. Oklahoma and Missouri are Big 8. Texas, Texas A&M and Arkansas are Southwest Conference. I need Georgia Tech and Florida State in the SEC
unfrozen caveman college football fan
Wow, CUBE keeps just attacking people. Him and Mcelroy need to chill. Unsubscribed. Annoying.
soft ass
Bro this dude doesn’t no ball putting red river at 5 is a fucking auburn bias
Had to turn this clown video off after RRR was number 5, lol. Closer games than any other rivalry game in the SEC, also more top 25 and top 10 matchups than any rivalry in the SEC. It takes a back seat to no rivalry in the entire country, save maybe Michigan-Ohio State.
SEC? Zzzzzzzzz.
