I’ve been coming back to these older videos over and over. I’ve been working on tight fast turns in my small yard. I’ve got a tight figure 8 with a 14” log at the interchange. Forces me to keep my eyes up to anticipate body position for the log and I have some things to add. DONT DONT DONT drop the elbow/shoulder or lean the body too much. Lean the bike. Keep the eyes moving forward, try not to focus on a specific spot. I always lose my line if I focus on the deep rut. I see the rut and immediately look to the log. As I approach the log I start looking towards the corner. I believe the most important time for perfect body position is this. Lastly. Throttle. Trust the throttle to hold the bike. The bike becomes upset/unbalanced if the throttle is choppy or intermittent. Im doing low revs and as soon as I have the front wheel where it needs to be, I slightly increase throttle and power out of the corner. Now I’m no A class rider folks. But after about 30 minutes a day for 3 days. It really came together gaining LOTS of confidence. Only problem is….I hardly EVER hit corners like this while in single track. I’m going to set up a camera and run 20 laps sitting/ 20 laps standing and see where I’m at time wise. I’m most comfortable standing but it feels slower doing these drills. If anyone gives a shit, and I remember, I’ll comment the results.
What's great is that althought this is a hard enduro channel and not a lot of it i can do on my wr250r, especially as a beginner, stuff like this looks great fun and i can definetely do on my bike!

👍👍 of all things I find tight cornering on grass and flat surfaces the most difficult. I always feel like the front is going to wash out and go too wide
yeah you can use your boot for stability but I used to race and got told/seen it happened, some guy put his foot down and it caught something and tore his acl so I don't drag my foot I just use it to balance.. that's why I wear astrict knee braces when I ride it's supposed to help prevent that not to mention they're way better than knee cups but worth the money
Seems like all the sliding is good for is sharper turns while going faster and that its just losing traction / kicking up dirt... But i learned something! the technical aspect of the foot and how riders hold it out like that when cornering in motocross... NEVER understood WHY lol ty for that
i always figured the foot was out drag along the ground if needed but it seems it's mainly to act as an outrigger for better balance, i put it out a lot more nowadays as a result.
I can't believe it's already been two years since you published this. Time goes too fast and riding dirt bikes only makes the time go faster because of the fun factor.
My 03 KTM 250 didn’t want to go down into the turn, I had to force it down. And my new husky wants to naturally turn deeper into the turn. I hold it back. Based off that. Each bike is different.
could i do stuff like this on the free ride 250r? or is she a bit too delicate? their isn't any beta dealers near me and i'm a short rider so the free ride is really my only option currently.
Can you help me with a little issue? Sometimes the rear is sliding nicely when suddenly it finds grip again. When that happens the bike shakes violently (so much that it trew me off a few times!) and wants to flip in the other direction. is it because of too little trottle or is something wrong with my position? Thanks!
yoshyoka hard to say without all the details, but generally if you are sitting forward as much as possible and have your inside boot in line with the front axle you should be able to ride it through smoothly when the rear wheel does suddenly find grip.
CROSS TRAINING, ENDUROCROSS & ENDURO TECHNIQUES I usually sit as in front as possible. I might add that it feels like the back violently gets back in line with the front causing the bike to flip over the other side. It happend to me also once during a supermotard race on asphalt. (Thanks again!)
yoshyoka It sounds to me like the bike is too upright with not enough throttle applied. I did that a lot while learning and high sided until I got tired of wiping out, that's when I got more aggressive and got it right. Throttle control is key.
If you're on a flat track you really want your foot digging into the floor with a lot of pressure, almost acting like a third wheel or a peg. This is where you normally wear a steel shoe.
Last time I powerslide it was too close to the ground and i ended up popping back up and went flying over the other side of the bike. I have 6 inch scar on my arm

Great to hear, your riding will progress in leaps and bounds with exercises like that. 👍
Hey, how's the progression looking? Are you a drift master now?
One of the many things I have to get right after rebuilding and starting to ride my ol' DR 6 fifty :D
What's great is that althought this is a hard enduro channel and not a lot of it i can do on my wr250r, especially as a beginner, stuff like this looks great fun and i can definetely do on my bike!
Very good vid. 45+ yrs riding/racing here 🎉
Rock on!
Thanks Barry. Could you explain a bit more about keeping the front wheel counter-steering? I struggle with this.
i can barely drive a bike, yet i watched this video at 2am

And it's counter intuitive that the best way to get front wheel traction is sitting forward on the seat....

Already love practicing those, it was a weird feeling at first but you get use to it fairly quick. Great video and very doable on the DR's :) *T4S*
Great video!
Like the slide, easier with enduro tires, knobbies will sometimes hook up when not expected and spit you off.

The beach looked like a great place to practice. Was that Double Island?
no, quad sand.

thx for more tips king gumby
Clones2011 did I see you comment on an MLB compilations video?
nah
Another great vid, thanks!
No point being 1st place if you don't look cool. Slides all the way bby!
😂
Do you need to force the handel bars into a counter steer? Or do they naturally want to counter steer?
My 03 KTM 250 didn’t want to go down into the turn, I had to force it down. And my new husky wants to naturally turn deeper into the turn. I hold it back. Based off that. Each bike is different.
Nice explantation.
nice video
Hey, finally subbed to make sure I see all your vids. By the way, how'd you do in your event, or have you done it yet. No DNF, I hope. :)
Mark Griswold one week to go, hope to finish!
Nice slides
I power slide my postie :D

it's so fun to power slide lol
dopamine inducing i swear.
Do you press the rear brake
tyler hughes no but that is an option some guys use. we'll be doing a vid on sliding into corners under rear brake soon.
that guy who talks is the same of visioracer?
need to apply a rear brake or not?
no
Yeah, but it is fun :)

Yeah that's called high siding and you can't do much about it until you just get better at doing what it is you're doing.
wow

i got to wear the steel shoe in canada recently: th-cam.com/video/CGU5FDVxFRc/w-d-xo.html
Need to get a Harley Davidson XR750 Flat Tracker and a steel shoe.
+CrisKG125 will the HD be good for log jumps and hill climbs too? :)
WHY NOT A HUSABERG?!
Phillipp Hambale ja, i too vont to see a berg in the next moofie...
Who cares about speed…, I just want fun!!
this is what I want to learn to do..but I need to hang a pair on my bike cause I am such a chicken,,scared I will drop the bike
I dropped my bike multiple times A day Dirt bikes are designed to He dropped the worst it will do is scratch your plastic
@@theruralrenegade8911 that’s what my uncle tells me but I felt disappointed when I dropped his bike for one time
Like rural renegade said. Dropping our dirtbikes is an everyday occurrence.
