its also fairly common to be allergic to detergents or overstimulated by residue left by too much detergent. In fact! Products like tide pods are very bad for this reason, coming from the experience of someone with sensitive skin. MOST detergents advise you to use too much, but at least in liquid or powder detergents you decide how much to actually use. Products like tide pods remove that ability and often contain way more, way stronger soaps than you actually need to clean your clothes. And though they advertise as being cost effective due to the sheer soapy strength!!! they are not for exactly this reason. You can usually get away with using like 1/3rd of what they tell you to use The tl;dr version :: More soap does NOT mean more clean. if you regularly have rashes that are triggered after sleeping, it could be soap residue left on your bedding from manufacture instructions telling you to use too much laundry detergent
I was thinking the same thing but within the video she explains she flew to Arizona to be with her family for Xmas, so she'd be sleeping on different bed/sheets, and possibly changing clothes/bathing
the more JAIDEN talked, the more i was worried for jaiden, and i'm still worried since they never pinned down the cause. considering they only ever seemed to appear or get worse when she was in bed, i wonder if there was an allergen or antigen on her sheets or maybe even an allergic reaction to bedbugs or something. like TELL ME she cleaned her bed at some point!
It's so cool to see this fully explained. A month ago, I had the exact same thing happen to me (let me tell you, sleep was not happening. Only suffering) and they told me the same thing that it was idiopathic. It's reassuring to know that this happens to a lot of other people. Sometimes, I wish I had a better explanation than "it just happens sometimes", but I've accepted that this is something we might never find the cause of. It only happens every few years, so I'm not worried about getting hives all the time for no reason. Anyway, super cool to hear someone else going through the exact same thing as me.
@@i.i.iiii.i.i Reactions aren't always fair use, in fact, fair use reactions are fairly rare (though I think this one counts). Among the fair use factors are; did you use more of it than you had to for what you're doing (any reaction that doesn't edit and cut down a significant chunk of a video fails this), can your product replace the original (ie can I watch a reaction instead of the original and be satisfied), and is it transformative. Most of the time reactions only stay up because owners of a video allow it to, recognizing that taking videos down is a good way to annoy your own fanbase and taking it as free marketing. The same applies to let's plays of any story-heavy game where you could watch it *instead* of playing it. This is also why Paradox is one of the most pro-youtuber companies around, their games only benefit from being let's played.
I love this kind of reaction video!!! it's not like the others where they just are in a corner making some expresions. You watch and explain, you teach us some important and curious things. That's so interesting!

GAGAGAGAGA I just disliked my own face because I am unpretty. HOWEVER: I always like my GOOD videos however. No dislikes allowed where I come from. Don't be mean, dear chris
I told this on the actual video but Imma copy and paste here as well. The one time I had Hives, I was in Elementary School and I used this soap that I was allergic to, apparently, so my body was itchy as hell. My mom, with her "Infinite Wisdom", saw the intense scratching... and got all annoyed at me. It took her a little bit to realize that my body was pink, and she took me to the hospital... they diagnosed me with Hives. I don't remember too much of this story tbh... but I do remember the "Rashes". I was in South Carolina back in 2018 mid Summer to visit some family, and one day I was chatting it up with a couple folks outside and everything was all good. It was hot so naturally I had to put some Sunscreen on... well later that day, my Step-Relatives noticed I was growing a rash on my arms, but I didn't think too much of it... the moment I went into the shower, however... I obtained rashes on my legs... and I went and told them about it, and went to the ER. They noticed the rash and gave me the shot of steriods right away. My guess is the Sunscreen caused it but there were loads of bugs flying about. I'm never going down south again.
i’ve had them pop up when i’ve been in old houses, using the soaps in school dispensers, cleaning and just wearing clothes i haven’t worn in a long time. i can remember being as young as 9 waking my mom at two in the morning and calling the hospital because i was coated front to back. severe soap and dust allergy over here 😬
This is the frustration I’ve had with so many doctors is that they just treat the generalized symptoms instead of investigating and alleviating the underlying cause. Doctor Mike is one of the few doctors that I would actually trust to help me.
i've had to deal with so many doctors that don't check everything and just give me a very common diagnosis and it would be something completely different from what i actually had
I've had bad pain near my appendix for over a year now, no it's not the appendix or anything/ I got ultra sounds done three times after needing to go to the hospital because of the pain. Well the most recent doctor I saw was like "Well its probably something not that deep, probably a fungie infection or something that hasn't been treated correctly" he gave me some stuff to rub on the place with the pain and so far it has been helping
@@GrimBirthday i kinda dont understand what you just said can you rephrase that, I'm not sure if its towards me or somebody else or if its an insult or something.
Considering she was having massive flare ups everytime she laid in bed, I wouldn't rule out that there was something in the linens that was causing a reaction. Soaps, aerosols sprays and all sorts of stuff settle in and cling to fabrics stubbornly. They also cling to animals too.
That's what I was thinking as well the initial outbreak on her neck she said she was cuddling with her bird but every single time after that she said she was in bed.
Her experience with doctors having no idea what's happening and just trying random things that aren't working is every single experience with doctors to me. A year and a half on, and I'm still coughing without anyone having a clue.
I hope you've had a chest x-ray or scan to preclude something growing in there that shouldn't be. If it is otherwise the only thing happening, something around you is constantly inflaming your lungs. You checked your house for mold?
Holy cow do you get like a little tickle cough that pops up for several months at a time and doesn't go away cause I've been trying to figure out what that's about. I've never been to a doctor for it though its more of a slight annoyance than anything truly worrying.
I suffered for years until I ended up in the hospital thinking I had appendicitis before a random ER doctor asked if I had ever been tested for Celiac Disease. Lo and behold, that's what it was, and only needed a simple blood test to confirm- but it took years until someone thought to ask and test for it.
You know, her comment section goes into some theories, that the hives seemed to have gotten worse every time she went to bed. So maybe there was something in her sheets or clothes that were there that affected her. Maybe mites? But it's thought that it was something she picked up from the hotels that she stayed at, since she went to so many.
Yeah, I think it might have something to do with her travel. I also had an intense itch after coming back home from a long trip. I might have picked up something along the way. I kind of think I had a viral itch or something, because my itch actually went away BY ITSELF shortly before I decided to go to the doctors (yeah, I was honestly trying to ride the itch out lol). Or that my itch was scared by the prospect of doctors and went away by itself lol.
I have Chronic Physical Urticaria and for a while being in bed was when it was at it's worst, while being away from other known triggers. Turned out in my case it was night sweats. Whatever bodily function causes a short lived fever during sleep was also making my attacks (hives) extremely bad, so much so that I wouldn't even get to the point of sweating. Not saying that was the case for Jaiden, as her condition will have been different to mine, but that temperature spike could maybe have made it worse for her too. Despite the complaints Mike had with the treatments she was given, it was a whole lot better than what I got. "Just keep taking anti-histamines and it'll go away by itself." Here I am 16 years later, life ground to a crawl because if conditions aren't just right I break out with those all too familiar burning, stinging and hyper sensitive bouts of hives, and they still just want me to keep taking the anti-histamines.
I have this too, the worst part about it is when you get embarrassed so you get flushed then you just start breaking out and then the anxiety causes it to happen even more. Life is hard..
As someone who recently had a massive allergic reaction to SOMETHING, this recommend is faintly hilarious. I ended up finding out as a long term eczema sufferer that eczema is ALSO classified as an allergic reaction that can be triggered by things other then stress. The more you know.
“the internet is ruining your brain!” jokes on you mom, the internet lets me learn new things and makes me aware of stuff that might happen and how to deal with it.
I've always hated cherries and so I'd never really eat them until 2 days ago, my mum bought some and I thought: "Well might as well have some since they're here." Ate them and my throat got itchy and tight, lip started swelling up and overall, I felt terrible. Found out later that I was allergic to cherries 😀
Having gone through something similar to this when I was younger, which led to us figuring out that I have a rather unusual food allergy...my guess is that some of the descriptions of the medical care she received leave out things you'd expect because she literally doesn't remember. Feeling like you're dying from hives doesn't exactly lend itself to having details etched into your long-term memory beyond OH MY GOD MAKE IT STOOOOOOP. The only reason I have any idea what happened back when I was dealing with this "fun" is because my dad is a fastidious note-taker and gave me the notes afterwards.
It has been 2 in a half years since I watched Jaiden animations and this video made me watch her again. Thx for this reaction! Edit: My highest like on a comment was like 3 and this made my day. Thanks!
I think you should react to Disney medical scenes because there's a lot of Disney scenes where people get hurt and almost die. Esmerelda when she inhales the smoke, Megara being crushed by a pillar, Mulan getting stabbed, and ect. I haven't gotten this much attention on a comment of mine! Tysm :)
This guy makes me more comfortable with going to doctors, no joke. I’ve always been nervous because I don’t know them personally (my family never go to the same one) and I don’t really trust them, which is because I haven’t been told before, only my other family members. But this guy gives me reasons why they do some things, which is something I need a lot. I usually don’t believe something without reason, if you know what I’m saying. And if you read all of this, then thank you.
Literally same... I went for an MRI scan recently and I'm really uncomfortable when people touch me or anything. It makes me feel horrible and unsafe and panicked and all kinds of nasties. But, suddenly I added medical professionals to my list of people who can touch me because I've been listening to and watching lot of medical professionals lately- Especially Dr.Mike but yes
@@da.snzzzz7120 Wow did we really need to hear this? Don't go in every single comment section to point out people's interests thinking you're the one cool guy. You're not. You're not funny nor cool.
You should also react to Markiplier's video "Pain" in which he describes the experience of having a tumor removed from his adrenal gland and the incompetent care he received from the doctor.
As someone much older, and probably in a different country (UK) our doctors will prescribe a multitude of tests to help identify the cause if the illness isn't obvious. They do treat the symptoms of an unknown illness to provide relief but they do investigate further. If your doctor doesn't do this, maybe you need to find a better doctor.
Like my doctors who just gave me ponstan for my "period pain" that suddenly got more intense than usual when actually my right ovary was swollen & had cysts. Took me 4 doctors to get actual diagnosis
Depends on the situation. If you're coming to the ER, they're only gonna treat things that could be a threat to your life or limb (as it should be.) Another good reason why people need to stop using the ER for their primary care.
This is why we take our pets to the vet. Vets give our pets medicine to cure their illnesses and infections. As a side benefit we don't get sick either.
1:45 I am just in love with the fact Jaiden is playing Untitled Goose Game. I've also experienced hives. It was from a bath bomb because I didn't rinse after using it. It was the worst on my stomach. Yesterday I broke out a little like right above my jaw which was weird considering I hadn't done anything to break out.
That sensation she describes with the needles reminded me of when I had shingles. They didn't hurt so bad I couldn't move so I had to still go to work, but instant someone brushed against me I had to really struggle not to scream. Doctor kept trying to find any possible answer for why it couldn't be shingles because I was 24 at the time and it's so rare for someone that age to have it.
@@memorycelle Not likely. Shingles almost always occurs on one side of the body lateral to the spine. In my case it happened on a patch on my leg that formed black bumps and the more traditional rash on the same side just above the hip. Showering was a nightmare.
Singles is the worst! I got them when I was 38 weeks pregnant so I couldn't really take anything for them. Mine itched SO bad, but luckily it was from my armpit to my spine so I couldn't reach to itch. They were surprised since I was only 28. They looked at it and had to go do some research to confirm it was shingles.
I had shingles when I was 19 lol. Thought it was a spider bite or something, end up popping some on my back when I sleep and now have permanent painly keliod scars on my back from it. But tbh, that period was pretty easy for me, I was a little moody and have a slight fever but thats about it.
I hope Jaiden saw this. I was interested when I first saw Jaiden's video because hives are normal for me. I was actually told I'm more prone to getting hives and two years ago from July to December, I got them every morning when I woke up. They were usually all over my legs and feet but, occasionally, I'd get them on my arms as well. I wasn't allergic to anything around me as we learned through trial and error. We changed my sleeping arrangement several times, I tried meditation in case I was stressed out (though I didn't feel it), I took allergy pills, etc. Eventually, they just went away on their own. I still don't know why that happened but while I still get hives, they aren't as bad. The only other time it was bad was last summer and it was a reaction to sulfa drugs I was taking because of another medical ailment.
I had hives as well when I was much younger. My family had no idea what it was from, we went to the doctor. The only thing they told me was to get benadryl, even tho it wasn't from a allergic reaction. I heard from other people who've had hives including my dad is that they come at some point in your life to terrorize you and then disappear without a trace. I would get hives whenever my skin got irritated, like if I'm scratching my arm it'll flare up. I don't flare anymore, thankfully.
I keep my 2 epipens in a ziploc bag in my purse, and I keep my purse with me whenever I go. I've never needed to use one, but me and my mom are allergic to a lot of things and the severity of the allergic reaction can change depending on the season and stress so I like to always have them. I keep them in a ziploc cause I heard you shouldn't get them wet, and I keep some water on me cause I have to put medications through a GJ feeding tube so I'm always worried the water will leak and ruin them
Maybe, but I have chronic hives and they don't know why. I have learned from Googling that hives are often worse at night due to our circadium rhythm (I don't know how to spell that), being warmer and our blood vessels expand, etc. I also thought it could be my bed, but I ruled that out when I slept in a different place, stayed up all night, etc. and I still break out at night. Now I just make sure to take my medicines before bed and that helps (Allegra and Pepcid).
hives are the worst, I've had them since I was a baby and it was painful, I still have them now but just not so frequent anymore and way less painful. So I can definitely feel the pain Jaiden's going through
I too had them a couple of times as a kid, but thankfully it was a long time ago, and haven't had Hives since. *UPDATE* Tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday 01/04 and now I have hives probably from it. Man.
Me at the start: "Oh, cool, he had a look at that! I wonder if Jaiden knows that a content creator/doctor saw the video..." Me at the end: "...Okay, maybe it's better she doesn't know the myriad of _terribly_ concerning things should COULD have had with those symptoms."

Products like tide pods remove that ability and often contain way more, way stronger soaps than you actually need to clean your clothes. And though they advertise as being cost effective due to the sheer soapy strength!!! they are not for exactly this reason. You can usually get away with using like 1/3rd of what they tell you to use
The tl;dr version :: More soap does NOT mean more clean. if you regularly have rashes that are triggered after sleeping, it could be soap residue left on your bedding from manufacture instructions telling you to use too much laundry detergent

I hope ur doing good now :D
Reminds me of when I used this specific brand of soap and the day after I woke up with a rash all over my body. Needless to say, never used it again.
i’ve had them pop up when i’ve been in old houses, using the soaps in school dispensers, cleaning and just wearing clothes i haven’t worn in a long time. i can remember being as young as 9 waking my mom at two in the morning and calling the hospital because i was coated front to back. severe soap and dust allergy over here 😬

Hello

Could be allergies. I always need to keep my house clean or I keep having insistent coughing.
Besides the obvious respiratory conditions, it could also be gastric reflux.
I suffered for years until I ended up in the hospital thinking I had appendicitis before a random ER doctor asked if I had ever been tested for Celiac Disease. Lo and behold, that's what it was, and only needed a simple blood test to confirm- but it took years until someone thought to ask and test for it.
I love how your videos are entertaining yet informative.
can we just appreciate how sweet it was when he talked about his doctor and he said his dad like I feel that right on 🥺

Do you think this was also around the time she was suffering from that eating disorder?

As someone in their 20s I can confirm that doctors usually fix the immediate problem we have instead of going deep about what caused it.
That's what urgent care is for, urgent care. They solve the then and there problems so you can go see your GP to solve it long term.
Depends on the situation. If you're coming to the ER, they're only gonna treat things that could be a threat to your life or limb (as it should be.) Another good reason why people need to stop using the ER for their primary care.

Oh wow, I was wondering if what was happening in this video could be shingles. Didn't know whether some people get it all over their body or not.
@@memorycelle Not likely. Shingles almost always occurs on one side of the body lateral to the spine. In my case it happened on a patch on my leg that formed black bumps and the more traditional rash on the same side just above the hip. Showering was a nightmare.

I also have chronic hives. I hope mine eventually go away. It is frustrating.
@@catwhisperer1253 I hope they go away for you too. I know how annoying and irritating they can be. Chortisone 10 works wonders though.
I'm allergic to Sulfa as well, and I have to remind doctors of that fact more often than I care to admit. It's in a surprising amount of anti-biotics.
@@Dillon-117 I know. Many in my family are also allergic to penicillin. Can’t even have it in the house. That narrows it down even more.
Huh I never heard of that
Maybe, but I have chronic hives and they don't know why.
Man.
Same I have had them my whole life and it's torture and u can never sleep
Me at the start: "Oh, cool, he had a look at that! I wonder if Jaiden knows that a content creator/doctor saw the video..."
Me at the end: "...Okay, maybe it's better she doesn't know the myriad of _terribly_ concerning things should COULD have had with those symptoms."
If my skin touches grass, I’ll break out in hives, especially if it’s dry grass. It’s like 10 times worse.
I never knew I wanted to see Dr. Mike react to Jaiden until I watched it, that's so awesome
Same!

You can tell he’s smart because of the words i don’t understand
No he just studies, study medical knowledge and you’ll know these stuff
@@moved2938 When you study you gain knowledge, when you gain knowledge you know more which makes you smarter-
Knowledge is power
@@tophbeifong3780 knowledgeable and smart are 2 different things and yes he is smart but it’s still 2 different things
Knowledge is to know what to say and wisdom is to know when to say it
I've been on TH-cam for literally 12 hours a day: Why haven't I been watching interesting medical stuff??
