Haha mine just calls TOT and AVE the hand guy videos. It normal goes something like "when you're finished watching the hand guy can you do this" I try to explain the difference and show her but she gets this look on her face and normally stops me and says hunny I just don't care
This is many years on, but the wife knows ToT as "the guy with floofs" because he had those kittens for a while and she calls them floofs.

A side of life some people don't experience, I was thoroughly entertained
We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days nickels had pictures of bumble bees on them. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now was I... Oh yeah! The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

I just watched 15 minutes of a man's hands cleaning metal chips from his shop while listening to him tell a random story, and I loved every second of it. Merry Christmas!

Jared Maddox “back” is a relative term in lathe based time travel. I would agree with you if you only considered lathe time travel in imperial.But if metric was used! Any thing is possible.

Back in the day when I was a wee lad, I worked with an old guy with the initial "LBJ"! He was usually pleasantly primed by the afternoon. So he bitched at me when all of OUR maintenance work didn't get done. He finally got the boot when they found him in the parking lot in the trunk of his car with his big red nose, curled up with his bottle of seedless Red #4!!! (He had hinged the backseat back to allow him access to the car's trunk). He was very cagey about it, but when the supervisors couldn't find him, they set up a watch on his car; and they actually caught him climbing out of the trunk into the backseat of his locked car!!! 😎👽

Three years later on a dark, depressing night and with Christmas at least 13 months away, I find much needed distraction and comfort in this hand-choreography masterpiece. It deserves an Oscars-category. For “Best hand actor” or “Most used black sweater”, they can skip the nominations and go straight to the price giving ceremonies.
Tony, thank you for giving me a laugh this Christmas. It hasn't been a very happy one, due to the loss of someone dear to me this year. Your videos are brilliant and they have given me more laughs than you can possibly know. I'm so glad that I found your channel and thank you for the great content. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Make that 3 of us. Our work vehicles were also “retired” police cars with the luxurious rubber lined floors, spot light, and 150k+ “gently” driven miles on them. Never saw so many people slyly try and put on their seatbelts in traffic before. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

Reminds me of the story of old Pete. Old Pete worked the booth of a city parking lot. He took people's money every morning. Pete was professional, clean, sharply dressed and always friendly. He worked 5 days a week, year in and year out. People came and people went and Pete was always there. 20 years roll by and one day... Pete wasn't there. Nobody knew what to do. Finally, someone did some calling. Every department they reached in the city knew nothing about that parking lot or Pete. Finally, someone with the city knowing of all the city parking lots was reached. They knew nothing of that particular lot, it was not a city lot and Pete was certainly not a city employee. "Pete" took money from people 5 days a week, every week for 20 years then "Pete"... took off.

I just finished my similar cleanup - it was a memorable mess but now my tools are clean again and I found things that I had been looking for for a while. I like those cheapest paint brushes for swarf sweeping - the thin ones with the unpainted handles - because they can get into places that the bigger more expensive brushes can't and they don't fluff up near as quick. MC&HNY.
that is the worst chip brush I have ever seen...........

It was pure torture watching the ineffectiveness of that brush. I tell ya.

Amazing ! I went out to the shop to clean it up moved one item on the bench which triggered a domino effect and knocked something over at the back wall Thoroughly frightened I headed in to find an old tony Christmas story. I'll clean the shop next year.
The instant I heard Mr. Pete on the phone I started laughing like a "patient" and had to excuse myself from Christmas dinner.

I’m now having a conundrum, I don’t believe your shop ever gets this dirty but I also don’t know how you could make them look so convincingly dirty looking.
A clean shop is a shop that either rarely gets used, or it was just cleaned before the next project.
Actually, shops get dirty without you being there. You don't ever actually have to work, the chips just manifest themselves in the chip trays and on all control surfaces. I have years of evidence of this...
@@Hawk013 that sounds roughly like my experience but I get a mixture of sawdust and grinder dust on everything instead of proper chips.
@@garethbaus5471 you guys are telling me that you don't do a marginal clean after every use? My shop ain't sparkles but there's no metal shavings to be seen. Cleaning the shavings after every use keeps it from "manifesting" I suppose 😂
@@EAGLINWRX I try to remove as much as possible off of surfaces to reduce the fire hazard but at least with most of the stuff I do it can take an hour or 2 for everything to settle.

I used to work for "The City" too. A pretty accurate description of the interpersonal dynamics and expected behaviors. I suppose they are all like that. I was the Tech at the Sewage Treatment Plant. A stinky job but pretty good pay and lots of "benefits". All the brown trout you could... never mind. One of our co-workers was like "LP". If you made eye contact you were pegged down for at least 25 minutes. Thanks ToT for punching the Nostalgia Button, or was that the broaching machine that you used? And that's when I see a new upload from Tony, and it's a true story not phoney baloney. As usual it's funny, it cost little money, but did I just watch a guy clean?
