That is so adorable! 💜💜 This is off topic, but I had to let you know you saved me this weekend. I'm a Personal Gardener for private clients and my client asked me to go to the grocery store and get some flowers to make a bouquet for his kitchen table. I must have looked like a deer in headlights. Not my comfort zone at all. I specialize in outdoor containers. I literally broke out in a cold sweat. On the way to the store, you popped in my head. Ok, what would Laura do? So, I just recalled all the bouquets I've seen you make all these years. And believe it or not, it came out amazing. He requested purple and white and everything was red and white for valentine's day, but I found 1 bunch of purple roses and several other bundles and spent 30 minutes putting it together. So thank you for the major save, and thank you for inspiring me when I had to get out of my comfort zone!! 💜💜💜
I searched how to make a heart topiary to make a special gift for a coworker that is leaving and I was so happy to find a how to video on Garden Answer. I can always count on Laura and Aaron to have the perfect DIY video. I've been subscribed to your channel since March 2020 and it has brought me so much happiness. Thank you! I just ordered the jute twine using your link and I will send you a picture on IG when it's complete. 🥰
Woooowwww, these would make great inexpensive gifts for a new mom, promotion, birthday gift, the list is endless. I am definitely making the big heart one for my mom on Mother’s Day. She has tons of windows in her apartment and she LOVES plants. Iam going to also make one for my nieces baptism. I just LOVE this channel. Laura you and your husband are amazing.
Hi Laura, please do more of these simple fun projects, it's uplifting & something many can do during the stay at home dulldrums. Thank you for bringing sunshine to our days 😀🌞👍
These are awesome! Gotta go get some of the wired jute twine. Never seen it before and possibilities are endless and pretty too! Thank you for all the inspiration. 🪴❤️🌿
What a wonderful idea to share with us today! And to keep it on the less expensive end, very helpful for this old school bus driver...we're not usually able to afford much, but $10ish is very doable for a gifting project like this 😀👌
Some muted colours of organza ribbon could dress it up for Valentine’s and you could remove it after. Like ecru, a smokey mauve or pink, even grey would look pretty! Thanks for the great ideas!! ♥️🪴🍃🌺♥️
Hi Lauren. These are so sweet. I purchased that jute twine last week to use in attaching plants to moss poles and orchids to wooden mounts. Love having a new use for it. Thanks.
Pay attention fellas! This would make a great Valentine's gift for your special valentine. Or ladies it would be great for Galentine's with your besties. Love this!!!!
Would you explain how people can tag you on social media? I know so many of us would like to share the many ways you’ve inspired us. You’ll never know how many lives you’ve changed with your inspiration, especially during this pandemic. You guys are a shining beacon of kindness and a reminder of how much we really are the same. Thank you for bringing us all together.
Most of us just share in the Facebook group "Garden Answer Groupies" and she occasionally sees things posted there. Or if you are on Instagram you can tag them as in your picture or comment their handle
Your best bet would be through Facebook or Instagram. You may use @gardenanswer on your comment and hope they read it. With over 1 million followers, she does not have time to answer all the comments. I noticed that she no longer answer comments here, where she used to before. Now, she does a weekly recap and answers some of the most asked questions there. Here is a link from Google: support.google.com/youtube/answer/9637404?hl=en#:~:text=to%20your%20fans.-,Mention%20another%20creator,fit%20within%20the%20character%20limit.
Thank you for this lovely idea, I already have all the supplies on my list and I’ll be heading to the store shortly. This is a perfect gift for my sisters, just a simple thinking of you. 🥰
Love this idea. My mom used to grow ivy in a pot and she used something she called a peat post which she trained her plant around. Ha, she didn't train it. She wrapped it around the post. I have tried to locate those online but haven't seen anything like what she used. This gives me some inspiration.
I slowed the video playback to ..25x to watch how she made the wire forms, and it's perfect! But... now I know what Laura sounds like if she was tipsy on a bottle of wine hidden under the table!! 🍷😂 Good times! Happy V Day 💚🤎💚🤎💚🤎
One thing I look for at thrift stores that I use as planters, are soup tureen's. I like ones on pedestal personally. People don't use them Much anymore so they are easy to find and relatively cheap. If you have a diamond bit you could even drill a hole for drainage and place on a lovely thrifted plate.
I just repotted some vining Hoya on a sort of meh topiary. I love this idea of the jute covered wire, I might even redo my project with this method. Also, I can see some pink primrose tucked in these. So cute!
I love this that was a great idea they came out so beautiful you always do a great job on everything you do with your plants🤟🤟🤟 your hearts came out really pretty💟🥰😍🤩👏👏👏
I'm planting up some pots for a friend who hasn't had success with house plants. Her granddaughters name is Ivy so "Glacier" ivy was my pick for her. I found some nifty spirals of vines cut off a small tree that was getting wrapped to death. It gives a more abstract effect but I think it will look nifty with little care. Gonna try to find that twine though, I like the look.
I love this idea, Laura! I'm definitely going to try this project with the jute wire. I have done something similar before with thick wire and a philodendron plant. I ended up inserting some garden landscape fabric staples around the metal frame to help keep the frame upright in the pot (philodendrons can get heavy!) and that has really helped provide a sturdy frame for my plant to grow on.
So cute!! Love the idea of using the wired jute twine to make the form. I could though REALLY stand to have more information on is how to keep ivy growing. In the past, I just tend to kill it eventually or it never grows much. Bought three little cypress trees this winter. Two I planted in terra cotta pots and the other one I left in its nursery container. Guess which is still living? The one in the nursery pot. Some things I just can NOT figure out.
What a WONDERFUL idea!! I love when I see these sorts of things at the store, but I never want to pay the price and I like to do my own with plants. Then try to find the topiaries and like you said, hard to find, then.... I don't want to pay the price for them, either. I've tried doing coat hangers and didn't like it. Next time at the store, I'm going to pick up some of that wire jute twine and then I'll have it on hand. And when I see a good ivy I like or something along those lines, I'm going to grab it and I'll be ready to go! Thanks so much for this.
kind of random but have you considered a magnolia tree as one of the new trees you plant? My grandmother has had a beautiful saucer magnolia in zone 6 for years. It is absolutely filled with large flowers each spring. The outside of the flowers are deep pink at the center to pale pink/white at the tips and it has really smooth, gray bark and large, dark green, leathery leaves. It just seemed like something you'd like! Love your channel!
I'm going to try this. I wish it was a little slower for at least first container. I'm not very good a "crafty" projects (novice gardener as well) but I love this idea. I've watched this video a few times so hopefully I can get the hang of it. Love the channel. Thank you
So sweet for valentine or all year round , I have an ivy here that is so long and on my bedroom dresser and every time I open the drawer it gets pinched in it , these ideas will solve my problem, thanks 🙏 a bunch, Laura
I've never heard of the wired jute twine before, you bet your bippy that I'm running out to get some and make my daughter a valentine gift. Thanks for letting us know about it.
I am SO excited to see this! I have been looking everywhere for small topiary forms, that weren’t tacky or cheap, like one you showed in a recent video, and I can’t find anything. I was thinking about taking a wire hanger and making one and wrapping it in jute but I hadn’t thought of this! I can’t wait to do this. Thank you!
I loved this project! I saw your video and it gave me the inspiration of doing the topiary using a clothing hanger! I did it and it looks fantastic! I added it to my latest video in my channel and shared the DIY topiary with the community plus a yummy shake of star apple and star fruit! Thank you for the inspiration Laura! You are amazing!
Laura, Your videos are always so timely in my life!!! I was looking on line to buy a small obelisk/trellis for my potted ivy. And your video pops up!! Going to Jo Ann's tomorrow!! Thanks so much!!
Excellent project. I often make my own topiary forms to save money so these will be great. Just have to find the rolls of twine wire here in the uk now!
Thank you Laura! What a Sweet idea! The hearts & sphere were perfect! Do you have to seal the chalk paint? The plants are low light so I was thinking they add oxygen to a room & how neat for my mother-in-law to sit by her chair & window. Such a good gift idea for the elderly!💖
I used to make them out of clothing wire hangers.... the ones that come with dry cleaning. Straighten the top curve and shape the wire.... worked great.
I was just today thinking about where I stored my wire so I could make some of these so your timing for this video is perfect. I will try it because it looks much easier to work with.
That is so adorable! 💜💜

The heart was very impressive and then you started the sphere. Thought is there anything she can't do...beautiful!!
Chalk painting and wiping off the paint to reclaim a scruffy looking terra cotta to give it new life is a brilliant idea! Rustic cottage charm! 🙂❤🪴
This is just the project for our -0 weather today! Thanks for sharing something to keep my spirits up. 🤗🪴

Laura you are so talented, what can’t you do with plants😀
I used to use clothes hangers and they all turned out beautiful for years to enjoy under the porch.
You are so talented/creative! Love this ❤️
Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Beautiful
Can you show us how you'd make your own moss stake for vine houseplants? There are a few on TH-cam but I trust you most!
