After doing this 2 years full time I wanted to share with you a little more about what I learnt in terms of the economics about being a TH-camr as well as share in detail how we get paid. Remember everyone has different aspirations in life and what your ideal income would be will differ from others & theres nothing wrong with whatever that is whether it is high or low. This video is made so that you can understand more about my financial situation and also learn so that you can decide whether this is the right path for you and remember these are all my own experiences and will be a different experience for someone else.

There has been a lot of discussion as to whether TH-camrs get paid when you skip ads. This is what I know from the google support forums.
"With TrueView in-stream ads, you pay when a viewer watches 30 seconds of your video (or the duration if it's shorter than 30 seconds) or engages with your video, whichever comes first. "
This basically translates that advertisers only get charged when the full 30 seconds is watched or if a use clicks on their ad. If you skip after 5 seconds then they get charged for 5 seconds which I assume is such a small amount that after we take our cut of 55% of 1,000 views it does not amount to much. That being said I want to clear up we do get paid somewhat but just a small fraction and they don't mention how much it is charged at so I'm not sure :)!! Hope this helps clear up some of the speculations :) This area is ALWAYS changing so this information may be outdated very soon if Google changes their policies so it's always important to keep up to date if you're curious about these things :)

I hope to make it full time, I tried to make it full time but I doubt it'll even put food on the table for me CURRENTLY, so I guess I'd have to get another job for now.. But until I make it a lot bigger, somewhere like where you are at right now, I'd make it full time (Even though I'm posting twice a week) I know 2016 is going to be my year! Your story and how you stopped your 6 figure job for TH-cam and your drive for TH-cam really did give me a boost in mine.

Yahoo has new software in place to detect adblocker, and they were disabling people's email accounts who used it. TH-cam will likely do the same soon, especially when (people) like you boast about using it on their service. Typical millennial; expects everything for free and brags about it to boot.

This was a great explanation. She doesn't flat out say the numbers but if you follow along, you can get it. Basically if you have 1 million views, 600,000 of the views are counted. Divide that by 1,000 views (how they get paid) and multiply it by anywhere from $1-$5. So as an example, for every 1 million views you get, you can make $600-$3000 on your video.

+Daniel Iliev That's cheap compared to NYC standards. Translates to $1,740 a month US. There are studios in my neighborhood that cost $2,000. One bedrooms are $3,000 and up. Regardless, $1,740 is a lot of money to be paying for an apartment.

Thanks for sharing the part about ads. I skip ads all the time on TH-cam when the option comes up- I hate watching ads cause I think it's a waste of time. Maybe I'll just mute ads from now on so that TH-camrs can get paid for their video.

i really hate the aspect of paid for views because people pimp out their kids and pets trying to get viral videos. it's only entertaining if they didn't intend it to be viral, and now people are trying so hard. plus you can buy views so it's like an investment in yourself.
in general youtube was cool when it first started but now it's become so commercial and infested with people who steal content to make money, the entire internet is overflowing with this. it's an oversaturated market.
that being said, I like this channel, and this girl. I like more of these channels and less channels of morons commenting on other people's content, that's not original.
+annie b I agree with you 100%, You Tube has created some real monsters. I didn't realize people got paid until recently and then it turned me off. People throw up titles like "kissing my mother" and other sick things to attract viewers. It's a real pimp mentality now.
But you do have to sign up for your account to be monetized too. TH-cam is automatically set up to pay you.

Before posting the video you monetize or when you go on settings of the video and blah idk when they get paid tho
Charlotte Lewis You create an Adsense account thru Google. put in your bank account direct deposit. Then click MONETIZE on each Video. What she forgot to say was be careful not to use copyright music. They are very strict about that. Also reach out to businesses. You should also have other high traffic social media links on your description box and CONTACT link for businesses to reach out to you.
Your Google Adsense should start getting more traffic once you get your first $100.00 dollars.
Sometimes that jump starts the process. It's like that first $100 minimum direct deposit gives you ADs that help your channel.

I have had about 3 channels in my past. and i loved making them. but I got to the point where I was never motivated to make videos because I had so much drama going on.. i made a channel on the account I am currently on and After the second video I just gave up.. I loved making them but I dunno.. I recently left school as I needed to escape from social and education issues. I am planning on getting into a few makeup courses and I was thinking of starting a new channel. My goal is to get my confidence back up and show my love for making videos. I don't expect to ever make money making them. but I just wanna do what I love. I hope I do well. This video really helped to put confidence in myself. Thank you 😊
