If you're a TH-camr yourself these things are really important to know to maximize the amount you are earning for your effort. I wanted to make this video because I really think today is the BEST and easiest time to make a TH-cam channel a sort of side hustle by sharing your valuable information and passions about whatever you happen to be interested in- IF you monetize it correctly. You really don't have to be getting quite as many views as you used to a few years ago to make a significant amount. This is great news for anyone that is interested in creating content, because they don't have to chase the clickbait-y titles or brand deals as much, they can make more videos of things they are interested in and have the means to hire people, upgrade their camera equipment, etc. to produce better free videos for everyone enjoy.
Also keep in mind, this is just a portion of the earnings TH-camrs make. Most people also monetize through affiliate links, brand deals, merch, etc. Just had to add that in there because I know someone was gonna be like "wtf, how did you just buy a tesla then" since these earnings don't really add up to that haha. I guess I lucked out, my one and only 1 million view video made $20K at the 1 million mark, its' $45K at the 2.1 million mark...and for beauty! Which typically isn't a high CPM (mine was exceptionally high for some reason)

I was basically thinking of David Dobrik the whole time. He talks about how little he makes off his videos compared to his friends. It makes sense now.
Because people watching him are probably kids, therefor less cpm.

summer C David’s videos get tons of views but they normally get demonetized bc they aren’t “family friendly “ and his age range ranges from 8-24 (I’m guessing but especially teens ) but he does have his second channel and he does get seat geek sponsors.He says he gets most of his money from his merch and things like that.
His videos are short and not family friendly. For this reason, I’ve kinda always known he doesn’t make much on them 😕
No but David is also really smart with his content bc he maintains a strong fanbase by having short videos you can binge easily and continue on with and by growing his name, bigger and more lucrative sponsors reach out to him (like seat geek) so while his adsense won't be comparable, he's still making out with a decent amount of money while not having to compromise his content

Right! I just started my own channel about growing medical cannabis and just my minor editing took me a long time.
Brand deals vary pretty drastically tbh... some just give merch to review, some offer credits for their monthly subscriptions if subs use the link, some give like 1-10% of sales, and some have a dollar amount based on views within whatever time they think matters...

Almost no ASMRtists don’t put any mid rolls on their videos because they wake people up or disturb them while they’re trying to watch since they’re so loud. ASMRtists make them long purely for the enjoyment of their audience.

@@habakuc yeah but she also said it depends on some factors like viewer's location, watch time, video length, and although I don't think she mentioned it, ad content value based on relevancy to video content, etc. So this video could make as low as $1500 ($1 CPM) to as high as $27,000 based on that insanely high CPM of $18 of one of her videos.
It’s a win win. We get more content, you get more money!

My most viewed video has 11M views and earned $43. In contrast, my highest earning video made $5,745 but only has 1.4M views.
This is probably because my video with 11M views is 59 seconds long vs my video with 1.4M views is 10 minutes long.
I have 815K views on one of my videos but I didn’t make any money on it and I’m even monetized

And a lot of them complain. TH-cam is proving them a lane to generate income. One TH-camr told me TH-cam places ads, she is saying she can determine how many ads to out in video. This guy had like 15 ads in his short video

And for that video to earn that kind of money, the huge amount of time and effort spent that didnt a dime because the channel was too small/starting out/just beginning? It take years of uploading quality videos regularly for anyone to be able to earn a decent amount of money from TH-cam
Sandra Quantin relax. It doesn’t compare to a 9-5 hour job dealing with annoying customers. They have their own schedule they do whatever they want and they get paid for uploading and editing. It’s not rocket science
@@user-tw6xi9nn8h haha right you clearly have no idea of the life of a TH-camr and think it's all glam and brunches. It's cool, but it's wrong. With a 9-5 job we leave at 5 and don't even think about work until the next morning. These guys have to prepare the videos, set up the filling space, shoot the video, watch it, shoot it 2,3 ever 4 times again if the other videos weren't good enough, add that to over an hour in editing, all this for free. After they post their videos they have to read and reply to comments. If the video is demonetised for some reason, all the above has been done for no money at all. Imagine the time spent when TH-camr upload 2-4 times a week. Their working days usually start at 7 and finish at 11pm. But cool for you to think that "they work their own hours".
@@sandraquantin-dumont3202 being a youtuber isn't easy but it's not hard either. They choose their own content and it's something they usually really care about and let's be honest a youtubers job isn't 7-11. It is only if they keep taking breaks. Making TH-cam videos aren't that hard. Some influencers like to show it like that but you need to watch some honest ones on that subject. How do you think a lot of youtubers do 2 videos per week and also has jobs??
