Unlike Tara's theme, Vyn's theme is one of the rare times where the old composition I had still held up for me, so most of the melody has remained unchanged from the old versions! I mainly just tried to rearrange it with better instruments and a better overall feel, though I wonder if I made it too intense by the end... Oh well

Hunter Chronicles: Tara and Vyn is an indie game inspired by the Mario and Luigi series - primarily developed by me and MaxLos. It's battle system is heavily based off those games, with you controlling two characters at the same time, and timing action commands in tune with their attacks.

Perfectly encapsulates the devil-may-care attitude that Vyn seems to have. Amazing song!

Love it! Reminds me of the kind of stuff you'd hear in an old western film or something.

Thank you!! That's the sorta vibe i was trying to go for, as it's related to where Vyn comes from ^^

Time to analyze the theme for the other protagonist.
This song starts off almost like a jazz theme, with there only being cymbal taps and a soft acoustic guitar, which really helps immediately set this in contrast to Tara's theme. Instead of being carefree and fun, this theme feels more soft, calm, and almost solemn right off the bat. I think this a great intro to the song, and might be one of the best in conveying the mood as soon as you start hearing it.
The song immediately forms a unique identity as soon as the saxophone and drums kick in. The drums here are especially interesting, as it sounds like they are trying to emulate a half-time feel. In case you don't know what that means, a half-time feel is when an instrument in a 4/4 song (usually the drums) makes the first and third beat strong enough to make what would be a 4/4 song feel like it's in 2/2 (half-time). It works really well here, because half-time feels generally make a song feel slower than it is, and it perfectly represents how this character is more laid back and less energetic than Tara. Works perfectly for Vyn! Whether or not that was intentional, it still already makes this song very unique.
Then we have 0:40, which is where the song gets really funky. The first measure is fine, with the quarter note upbeat at the end perfectly leading into the next one. However in the next measure, the upbeat is not a quarter note, and I still haven't figured out a proper way to break this up. I want to argue it's some weird swung 4/4, or maybe an upbeat triplet (if that exists), but that's a bit of a stretch. Overall it creates a sudden rushed feeling to get to that next note, which is really unique and somewhat bizarre. Not a bad thing, just a strange thing that makes that part really stand out to me. I also love how the bizarre upbeat perfectly goes into the long triplets as well. Overall this little bizarre upbeat into the triplets creates a strange vibe to the song, letting us know that Vyn isn't just your average emo protagonist.
After a little guitar riff at the end of the strange triplet section, we get back into the main half-time feel theme with what sounds like a soft rock guitar supporting the saxophone, leading to an epic conclusion to the song. The rock guitar being overshadowed by the saxophone does a really good job of helping not only make this song too intense, but also keep the intensity of the climax of the song from feeling dry. I also love how it loops, with both instruments holding the final note into the introduction of the song.
Overall, a very good song for our emo protagonist, and while it starts off normal, has some unique musical elements that make it stand out from anything so far. I'll definitely be looking forward to any other unique uses of musical elements as well.
